There seems to be some misconception as to how the assistant system tends to work.

Let me explain.

No, there is too much.

Let me sum up.

Person A runs the list. Persons B assists the merchant.

Person A draws Client A from the list.

Person B takes Client A into Room 1 and looks over their design idea, corrects any grammar or spelling mistakes, and rids the world of glowing arcane sigils of dewm. They also confirm that the Client has the necessary rare materials to provide. Nine times out of ten, Client A and Person B work together flawlessly.

In the event of disagreement, Person B generally says, Well I suggest you go with (insert design here) because arcane sigils of dewm are not allowed, so keep this suggestion as a backup idea.

Person B then escorts Client A to Room 2. Merchant collects ready clients from Room 2, and escorts them to Room 3 to do the actual work. The client generally has a good solid design, and can be accomodated in a very short amount of time.

Sometimes, players insist that the merchant view their original idea. THIS IS FINE! Quite often, the merchant just explains the same thing that the assistant explained -- I'm sorry, glowing arcane sigils of dewm are not allowed -- and asks for a backup idea. Client ends up happy, and the merchant moves on to the next person waiting in Room 2.

All that said, I understand that some players don't want to work with other players this way. That's not a problem, they'll just have to wait for a session that isn't using the helper system. There have been a couple already this fest, because we GMs like to try to accomodate every style.

For example, when we did the first-timer list, those selected worked directly with the merchant. Call me crazy, I wanted it to be extra special for them, so I did it myself!

I believe Sindah also tends to just draw a few names and work with them on her own, only using assistants on rare occasions. If that's what you prefer, maybe keep an eye out for her sessions?
