Much anticipated...
Okay! This year's Hollow Eve gift is a spider!
1) It's a biomechanical tarantula. Its main function is to take field experience out of one skill and make it a bonus pool available for that skillset.
2) It can be used once every 10 minutes (subject to tweaking).
3) It is mildly inefficient, insofar as you lose a small number of bits in the transfer process.
4) You cannot use the same skillset twice in a row. You need to vary it up a little bit each time (you can jump back and forth though, so Armor Magic Armor Magic is valid, but Magic Magic isn't).
On metal eating:
1) If you have something that's a valid metal for the forging system, you can feed it to your tarantula to change its metallic components.
2) This is cosmetic only, but it's neat and should work with any metal present or future.
3) Doing so will consume the entire source of metal, be it 1 volume or 100. Use small ingots.
4) You can recycle some weapons/armors this way, depending on how they're set up with respect to our metallurgy system. However, items that are bonded, registered, or flagged internally as do-not-delete cannot be eaten this way.
General Usage stuff:
1) The item is general worn. Most of its functions can be use while worn, except metal eating which requires it to be in your hands.
2) The item does no damage to you, despite how... interesting... some of the messaging is.
How do we use it?
TURN TARANTULA TO <skill>
RUB TARANTULA (to activate skill conversion)
SHAKE TARANTULA (with it in one hand and metal item in the other to activate metal eating).
Can I use this on any skill?
Yes.
Can I use this on multiple skillsets at once?
You can have bonus pools in multiple skillsets simultaneously, but you will only create one pool per activation.
Does it drain the selected skill to 0/34?
Yes. You sacrifice all of the field exp in a specific skill toward the bonus pool for that skillset.
Do the bonus pools work the same way as they did in the skill combine?
Yes, we are reusing the EXP BONUS system for this item.
Does it stack with REXP, and how?
Yes. It's additive with REXP, RPAs, and Nexus bonuses, as well as any other absorbtion bonus that exists. RPA and REXP bonuses are applied before the bonus pool is considered - the bonus pool is not multiplied by REXP, but it might affect how many bonus pool bits it tries to pull out.
Does it work for F2Ps?
Yes, within the constraints of their experience system limitations.
Can I alter it?
Yes, it is alterable. It loses its metal eating ability if its altered, and must remain a spider of some sort due to messaging.
Does it bond?
Yes, it will only function for the character that picks it up.
If you have any other questions, post them here and we'll get back to you soonish.
See you at the Fest!
