Paglar is the Head Guildleader of the Ranger Guild due to his teacher, Roopardua, constantly being on the move, exploring the wilds of Elanthia.
Description
Paglar is tall and broad, even for a Gor'Tog, with olive skin that has been weathered by the elements to a deep bronze. Below a heavy brow line often furrowed with the concerns of the guild he oversees are wide-set soulful brown eyes whose gaze is filled with a sense of deep peace. He wears a long suede tunic over a bone-colored wool shirt, belted at the waist. A low-slung hip quiver hangs down to the tops of his thick-soled leather boots and across his broad back is a recurved peregan laminate composite bow with burnished bronze tips.
Appearance
You see Guildleader Paglar Gretlef, a Gor'Tog Ranger.
He has blue eyes. He has dark green skin.
He is elderly for a Gor'Tog.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing an osage orange flat bow with a rough hemp grip, some rugged forester's boots showing faint stains, a wide-brimmed straw hat, some faded stalking leathers, a carved ironwood spear with a spirit feather tassle, a thigh quiver, a shoulder-slung satchel woven from twined threads of bamboo and a rough grey leather poncho with a deep hood.
Paglar nods at you and thinks for a moment, his deep brow furrowed. "There are many lessons you may learn about Rangers in books and from other guildleaders. But the most important lessons you can learn about Rangers are learned by walking with Nature and understanding the beauty of its Balance. Rangers are not like those of other guilds. It is not an easy path, but one that can bring you to more understanding and peace than any other."
Extending one thick hand containing an acorn in his palm, Paglar says, "On one hand, Rangers are protectors of the wild places of Elanthia and keepers of all the life within them." Paglar extends his other hand, slowly uncurling his fingers to reveal a small stone in his palm. He says, "On the other hand, Rangers know that though their place is not in the towns and cities of these lands, these places are needed, just like nighttime is needed for each day. This is part of the Balance, which is what we ultimately seek."
Paglar smiles and lowers his gravely voice, "You must seek Balance in yourself before you can preserve it in the world. Explore your freedom to lay your paths where your heart desires, but take seriously the discipline needed to return always to your guild. Find adventures of the mind as well as the body. Train hard, but do not neglect your rest. Use the shadows as well as the sunlight. Do these things well, and you will grow as a Ranger and go far in the guild."
Circling to 100
Paglar folds his arms across his broad chest and nods approvingly. He says, "RANGER, you learned many hard lessons in your journey to this day, and you did well. You are a good student and strong guardian of Nature." Paglar claps you firmly on the shoulder, and says through a broad grin, "I am proud to have you as a fellow Ranger."
Paglar draws in a long, slow breath and considers you for a while before saying, "Do not forget that the greatest lessons are found in Nature and in the Balance. You will not lose your path if you remember this."
He pauses before adding, "Oh! When your path crosses Tolle's, you should ask him to teach you about the hunter's bow. It is an old, old Ranger lesson and only the best in the guild can learn it."
