Events

Fyearikloa'i Rensh'a debate rules
The Fyearikloa'i will host occasional debates for the furthering of the scholarly interests of characters and the role playing interests of players. Anyone will be allowed to attend the meetings unless he/she has been specifically shunned by the Order, and we encourage everyone to come and participate.
Event
The debates of the Fyearikloa'i Rensh'a are that of a scholarly sort. While the points given may be made for themselves alone, the main focus of the debate is to spread knowledge of the topic (to both the debaters and the audience) and to test the argumentative tactics, techniques, and styles of those participating. It is hoped that debating a topic will cause people to become interested in both the topic and in learning -- and spreading -- history, culture, and the art of argument.
As such, we test the skill of those wishing to debate by choosing the side of the debate in which they will participate. It is to further knowledge and understanding and allow people to view the issue from all views.
The winning point of view is not necessarily that held by the Order or the participants, but merely the side that was best served by the debaters themselves.
Setting
Most debates will be held in the city of Shard, in the Chamber of Voices, located within the Great Tower. On occasion a debate may be set up in a different city depending on the topic or interests. Procedures
Scholars from the Fyearikloa'i may be asked to assist the teams in the debate. The team sizes must remain equal, and both teams must agree to the appointment. No team will have a choice in which scholar it receives.
Once the teams are selected and the positions determined, each team will have five roisaen to privately discuss its position and order of speaking. The speaking will then begin, with the teams alternately presenting a single speaker to give an argument or rebuttal. Two roisaen will be given for each argument, with a two roisaen rest in between. The dissenting team shall always speak first.
Once everyone has spoken, the teams will be given an additional two roisaen to discuss a final statement. The final statement will then be given by each team, assenting first, the speech lasting two roisaen. Judging will commence once both final statements are given.
Judging
There shall be three judges, all of them Fyearikloa'i. They will judge the debates on four aspects. They are:
Clarity - This is how well the teams managed to get their points across, and if said points were well understood.
Knowledge - This is how well-studied the members of the teams showed themselves to be in their specific points and topics.
Participation - The unity of the team shall be judged as well. How one point was followed by another, both in response to the opposing team and in a logical progression within one's own team, matters greatly.
Flair - This is for the extra touches thrown in by team members. It includes quotes from well known books, spell effects, item display, hand gestures, etc.
A judge will give each team member 1-4 points for each of these aspects.
So one team member might receive a 12 from one judge; this score is then added together with the scores from the other two judges to come up with the final score for that person. Totaling the members' scores will give the team scores.
The team with the higher score shall be declared the winner of the debate, and the team member with the highest personal score shall be declared the most outstanding debator.
Prizes
Prizes will be given out at most debates and may be given to the best debaters and/or the "winning" team.
Original FAQ from order website
Welcome to home of the Fyearikloa'i Rensh'a. We are a scholars' organization dedicated to studying the Lore of the Province of Ilithi in the world of Elanthia. We invite all of our guests to feel free to look around and see what we of the Fyearikloa'i Rensh'a have to offer. Although our lore primarily focuses on Shard and the outlying reigons, we are dedicated to learning of all things that merit interest.
Through research, fact gathering, and attention to world events, the Order of the Fyearikloa'i Rensh'a pledges to gather any and all pertinent information regarding the subjects of Ilithic history, culture, and society. This information will be selectively disseminated to the members of the Order of the Fyearikloa'i Rensh'a, and, of course, the people of Ilithi, at the direction of the Council of Ten.
The Order of the Fyearikloa'i Rensh'a was established to uphold the traditions of the people of Ilithi, propagate Ilithic culture, and record and restore to the people of Ilithi their grand history. We shall study all our diverse culture has to offer, be it common knowledge, obscure lore, or that which others set aside. We, as students of Order of the Fyearikloa'i Rensh'a, understand that with this knowledge comes responsibility and pledge to discharge that responsibility while upholding the honor of the Province of Ilithi and maintaining its unique and vibrant culture.
Fyearik-what? What language are you speaking and what does it mean?
The Order's name and titles are all in Gerenshuge, the Elothean tongue. Fyearikloa'i Rensh'a literally translates to "Thinkers of the People" and Bakshiloa'i translates to "Students." More information on the Elothean language can be found in Basic Gerenshuge.
Elothean language? So this this an Elothean Organization?
While the Fyearikloa'i Rensh'a is based in the Elothean traditions of scholarship and lore, we are far from being an "Elothean Only" organization. Our interests are extremely broad, and we welcome any and all people who are interested in studying the lore of the Realms.
Will you be providing maps, circle/skill/magic lists, or hints on your website?
We do not offer in-game help with mechanics, skills, and so on. Instead, we are interested in histories, language, and culture. The kinds of information we will provide will be on the order of library books, player dialects and studies, and logs or discussions of events. We may also provide songs.
Do you plan on acquiring sanctioning to become an official order?
This is our hope, although we need a lot more members than we currently have in order to get sanctioning. If you are not a member, you are more than welcome to submit an application.
What is the Order planning on accomplishing?
Our goal is to gather and spread as much knowledge as possible, maybe even hold regular lectures and teaching sessions with a different guest speaker and subject. The idea is to become recognized as one of the leading authorities of Ilithi's history as well as its current culture and heritage.
Will it mostly be for scholarly talk, or will there be expeditions and regular writings?
We will have both. Much of the information we find will be posted to the site, as well as in-game, and recently a number of the current Order members went on an expedition to find out more about the legendary Ferdahl named Corik. In the future we may sponsor quests such as that.
How is the Order organized?
All members on the Council of Ten have a unique title and very specific duties. Each member will be responsible for bringing up issues to be studied within the designated area of expertise. One position is the Bakshiloa Sainyuso'a (Student of the Divine), whose job is to interpret signs, omens and history from a religious perpective. That person might work together with the Bakshiloa Elothean'a (Student of Elotheans) in order to find some tangible proof that Elotheans were created from the Will of the Immortals.
When and where might there be some organizational meetings held?
Meetings will be held in Shard, most likely in the Grove of the Great Tower or the Chamber of Voices. We have meetings every week, although we alternate between having them OOC one week (in a chat room) and IC the next.
What's up with Pureblade's title?
He insisted.
