Mangonel

Mangonels are a smaller carapult-type siege weapon modified into a weapon for 'ship to ship' or 'ship to shore' attacks. They are mounted on decks and can be turned to face allowed directions, pushed and pulled to zero in on a target, and aimed at distant targets. To operate, first check if repairs needed. there is a crate of repair materials provided for each mangonel on board. crank down the ratchet by TURNing the mangonel. It will take many turns to retract the arm. A single operator can accomplish this but help reduces the time required.

There are three choices when it comes to loading the mangonel. The projectiles provided consist of chains to damage rigging hoping to cripple another ship, stones to snap masts and penetrate the hull or shore targets, and burning pitch to paralize a target with flames.

There are working models of mangonels on the Kree La or the Lybadel, both of which dock in Riverhaven.
