"The number preceding the / is the current day of the
month (1-40), whereas the number following denotes the
current day of the year (0-399)."

Then you rotate the Day dial through Kertandu, Hodandu, Evandu, Truffandu, Havrandu, Elandu, Chandu, Glythandu, Faeandu, and Tamsandu. Then, slightly embarrassed to be playing with the device as if it were a toy, you reset it to the proper date.
