iroko nehpar'i topped with an arachnid-shaped headstock | |
---|---|
Look: | Made from rich iroko, the body of this nehpar'i is carved with tiny skittering niello spiders all along the sound board, while the fret and neck are inlaid with thin alternating strips of black tomiek and white mistglass to give a contrasting look up and down the instrument. The headstock is shaped to resemble the cephalothorax and abdomen, joining the leg-like carving of the tuners. Adding a final touch, the instrument's strings are made to appear as webbing shooting out from the spider's spinneret. |
