| Look: | No larger than a kitten, the rounded body of the beetle is bright red and covered by serrated-edged spines in neatly arranged rows. Beginning as little more than needles near the head and mandibles, the prongs get larger and more curved toward the midsection and middle pair of legs, then recede again as they approach its rear. Taken as a whole, the creature's carapace resembles a well-crafted spiked shield on a drastically miniaturized scale. |
