You recall a story you heard, once told by Vixonia Toryan. Your crystal aids in a perfect retelling.

Knowledge from your sanowret crystal about The First Frost rings clear in your mind:
Curled up fast asleep in her burrow, the young frost fae was startled awake by her sister as excited cries of 'Wake up! Wake up, Tina! It's Time!! Come on come on COME ON!!' Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she sat up and looked around in confusion as she saw everyone scurrying around in frantic expectation. With a sudden gasp it dawned on her. It was First Frost! This was especially exciting for Frostina since this was the first year that she was old enough to help.

Knowledge from your sanowret crystal about The First Frost rings clear in your mind:
Racing to get her tools gathered, she flittered from the burrow and raced to the classroom where her teacher was giving out the assignments. Her heart started racing as she heard that she was given the task of painting frost on the windows! She had expected to be stuck frosting tree leaves in the dense forest for first frost, but windows? With her wings fluttering twice as fast as needed she clutched her paintbrushes and followed the flight of her fellows out of the den.

Knowledge from your sanowret crystal about The First Frost rings clear in your mind:
Everyone was excited as they swooped and careened through the air toward the first stop on the frosty tour. Flying tentatively up to the house she took a moment to gaze at the pane and decide how to delicately frost it. A dab of her brush started a cascade of icy flakes over the cold glass and in no time, she had finished her very first artistic masterpiece. As she was studying her work, the sudden appearance of a shaggy head and a loud 'WOOF!' startled her and almost knocked her off her perch.

Knowledge from your sanowret crystal about The First Frost rings clear in your mind:
Staring back through the freshly frosted pane at the mastiff, she cocked her head to the side and for the first time, started thinking about the inhabitants of the buildings she was going to be decorating. Glancing past the dog she saw a fireplace that was gently glowing, the fire having burned down and mostly just the coals still warming the room. In the corner of the room was a pallet on the floor, with two lumps beneath a comforter which must have been the main inhabitants of the cottage.

Knowledge from your sanowret crystal about The First Frost rings clear in your mind:
As the dog started to bark more at her, she realized that she'd overstayed her welcome and that she'd better get a hustle on if she planned on finishing the windows she had been assigned before the sun came up. Dashing off, leaving a frosty trail in her wake she raced on to the next home, catching up with her fellow fae. Carefully painting a cheerful trace of frost across each pane she raced on to the next. From house to house she flitted, focusing on the outside as she artfully frosted each glass.

Knowledge from your sanowret crystal about The First Frost rings clear in your mind:
Most of the night went by with a breezy ease until she was decorating the upper window of a tall narrow townhouse and suddenly realized that it was much brighter than the last. Peering through the pane, she saw a young man sitting at a desk, bent over a piece of paper with a look of intense concentration on his face. Curious as to what he was doing she pressed both hands against the glass and looked more closely. He was drawing a spectacular landscape with deft and delicate strokes of his pen.

Knowledge from your sanowret crystal about The First Frost rings clear in your mind:
Another artist! She was enchanted as she watched each stroke add to the detail of the imaginative scene. With delight, she recognized the area he was drawing as a meadow not far from her burrow, but in the bright bloom of summer. His attention to detail was amazing to bring that area to life from memory. With a startled squawk, she realized he had stopped drawing and was staring up at her! Her heart hammering in her chest she flew from the pane and raced off to catch up with her friends.

Knowledge from your sanowret crystal about The First Frost rings clear in your mind:
'Stupid.. stupid.. stupid!' she muttered to herself as she flew off. She was not supposed to be seen while frosting the houses. That was the one rule! She was very careful the rest of the night as the flight of fae flitted from house to house. She delicately touched each pane with her brush and then flittered off to the next window quickly. As the sun rose she took a deep breath and looked around. The first rays of light glittered so beautifully on the efforts of their work. Tired, she headed home.

Knowledge from your sanowret crystal about The First Frost rings clear in your mind:
Apparently no one noticed her indiscretion because for the next frost, she was again assigned to windows and started gratefully on her rounds. Flying from pane to pane she expertly painted each with a dash of frost. She worked her way through the same village she had previously visited and smiled as she found herself face to face with the mastiff again. Dabbing her brush on the pane right in front of the dog's nose made him jerk back and snort which had her giggling as she continued on her way.

Knowledge from your sanowret crystal about The First Frost rings clear in your mind:
Flying up to a window she paused a moment. Stuck to the pane she was about to decorate was a small note artistically decorated with the word 'Thanks'. Peering in she realized this was the artist's house. Over the fireplace she spied a new painting -- a view of this same window with a small fae outside. It was like looking in a mirror, holding a paintbrush in one hand as she pressed herself against the glass. With a blush and giggle she painted his window with elaborate care before flying on, smiling.
