Focus shifting

I'm new to playing a barb, but I got a message "You feel your focus shift." I checked on the dance page, and it says that will only happen when there's a change in burden or encumbrance. I didn't change either of those, didn't even add a skin or coin, when I got the message. The only difference was I got hit a couple times. Could vitality or injuries also cause the focus shift?
