• Breath of the Heralds Asildu joins the adventure.

[Wilderness, Edge of the Primal Encasement]
An abrupt line slashes across the forest here, the tree line ending with a stark immediacy and with the ground cleared. To the north, a crater descends gently downward, encased in a veritable wall of snapping and writhing thorny vines that constantly churn the land and create an impassable barrier. Extending upward into a vague teardrop pinnacle from which erupts a golden beam of light, the lifesculpted spire occupies the same space Knife Clan previously occupied.

Stellar Statistician Urbaj just arrived.

Apparently Apathetic Apcar just arrived.

Casari glances at Asildu.

Asildu frowns.

Asildu gazes at the spire.

Casari says, "Beware, Asildu. At a recent Therengian Court meeting, some expressed an interest in murdering you, and it was seemingly sanctioned."

Asildu glances at Casari.

Casari asks, "Does the spire look familiar to you?"

Asildu asks, "Me?"

Casari nods to Asildu.

Asildu incredulously asks, "They want to kill ME?"

Casari looks at Asildu and shrugs.

Asildu gestures at the spire.

Asildu says, "I didn't do THAT."

Rienth just arrived.

Casari says, "No, seems like the Heralds did that."

Bloodthirsty Wenwick just arrived.

Wenwick snickers.

Asildu says, "THAT is the result of the arrogance of adventurers who don't heed warnings."

Casari gives a slight nod.

Urbaj says, "How many adventurers are inside of there? Not many. Almost entirely innocents."

Bloodthirsty Wenwick wanders south.

Asildu says to Urbaj, "Because adventurers were careless."

Urbaj says, "It seems like the Heralds were careless with their aim."

Asildu shakes his head.

[General] Your mind hears Asildu thinking, "Look what you have done."

Urbaj says, "Arhat's tower, and those responsible, were a few leagues to the east."

[General] Your mind hears Heartsfyre thinking, "What have they done?"

[General] Your mind hears Elizzibiana thinking, "ayup, we did that for sure"

[General] Your mind hears Belzor thinking, "Who, by chance?"

[General] Your mind hears Eskila thinking, "but I'm not done yet."

[General] Your mind hears Elizzibiana thinking, "pretty sure he is refwerring to knife clan"

Casari says, "Listen, I've told them to stop doing things to escalate the Heralds' ire, but it's starting to seem like the disappearance of our allies may have been knowingly perpetrated by the Heralds, so I was hoping... that you would try again to communicate with them. Get them to release our people. Maybe get some more cooperation as a result."

Asildu says to Urbaj, "You miss the point."

[General] Your mind hears Aryss thinking, "well that can't be right. No one I know of wields that kind of power..."

Urbaj says to Asildu, "Then please elucidate what justifies the apparent murder of thousands of innocent bystanders, and 0 responsible individuals."

[General] Your mind hears Buzan thinking, "you wouldn't know him - he goes to a different realm"

[General] Your mind hears Elizzibiana thinking, "and fairly sure he is refering to what happened at Arhats tower the other eve, that we irrated someone or something enough"

Mountain Lord Ezerak just arrived.

[General] Your mind hears Asildu thinking, "Such arrogance has caused this. Such arrogance of those who refused to heed the warnings of what sorcery will do to this world if it continues."

Ezerak nods politely to Asildu.

Asildu asks Urbaj, "What justified the reckless usage of sorcery when the warnings were so clear?"

[General] Your mind hears Elizzibiana thinking, "yeah yeah yeah, I cant speak for others but I'm tired of being pulled in so many directions. One group says this, another that and a third else"

Urbaj says to Asildu, "No action justifies this tantrum as a response."

[General] Your mind hears Lupdels thinking, "Asildu, you and others did warn us, and many listened. There is chaos and confusion, and many cannot decide the right course of action."

[General] Your mind hears Aryss thinking, "no you see, sorcery didn't do that. Someone may have done that because some people didn't do what they told them not to. But sorcery didn't do that. Let's be clear on who or what did that to knife clan. It wasn't the people at arhat's tower."

Asildu says to Urbaj, "The end of the world does not justify a response? If you will not listen to reason, they are left with no choice."

[General] Your mind hears Elizzibiana thinking, "I'll make it plain Asildu, I dont trust any of you as far as I could spit ya. I'm going to just keep doing what I'm doing."

Ezerak steps towards Casari to join her, but Casari steps away.

[General] Your mind hears Amailia thinking, "Yeah, I think the gist here is that there will always be someone doing sorcery. Its like telling the clouds not to rain."

Urbaj says, "Then kill those responsible, not those innocently healing with herbs in a rural town."

Casari asks Ezerak to join her group, but Ezerak declines.

[General] Your mind hears Buzan thinking, "live your own life! Cast your spells you want to! Be Free!"

Asildu says to Casari, "They are angry. I still feel their rage."

[General] Your mind hears Cythra thinking, "we nae can keep going the way we been, that much is clear. Let's change it up. Peoples been doing sorcery stop and peoples nae sorcering start."

Casari says to Asildu, "And they probably have a right to be. But more anger is just going to keep escalating the situation. There's a chance to calm SOME of the most potent offenders down by sending back our people."

[General] Your mind hears Buzan thinking, "now that's a compromise!"

[General] Your mind hears Elizzibiana thinking, "if its immortals, heralds, someone else that didnt like what we did, then step the heck forward. Stop hiding"

Urbaj says, "Of course they're angry. They're hateful, nativist bigots. All they know is rage."

Bioexorcist Karthor just arrived.

Ezerak nods at Casari, obviously agreeing with her views.

Karthor waves.

[General] Your mind hears Aryss thinking, "Sorcery may in fact be threatening the existance of the realms. I have no idea personally. But Sorcery didn't wipe out Knife Clan."

Asildu says to Urbaj, "You know nothing of what you speak."

Karthor closes his eyes for a moment and grows still.

Urbaj says, "I know what I observe, which is that casting sorcery makes this plane more stable and balanced."

Asildu says, "You all think you know so much. You think you know more than the Heralds."

Urbaj nods at Asildu, obviously agreeing with his views.

[General] Your mind hears Elizzibiana thinking, "I think it was the event that Saragos was trying to weave a way to the missing five"

Asildu says, "All I have seen from adventurers since coming to warn you all is arrogance."

[Trade] Your mind hears Whynd thinking, "dont you dare insult Dokt like that, I love you but ill kill you, resurrect you, and kill you again, and make you a risen!"

Asildu says, "And look what it has done. What your arrogance has done."

Gestures toward the spire with greater emphasis.

Casari says, "It would be so easy to turn the tide and get hundreds of people on board if the Heralds would stop raging for a moment and hear the mortals."

[General] Your mind hears Elizzibiana thinking, "your threats might be more effective Whynd if you didnt use the trade channel, just saying"

Ezerak asks Asildu, "There is some evidence that sorcery may be helping, but perhaps you could speak to that claim? If it is not sorcery, then what is causing the feeling of balance after these events?"

[General] Your mind hears Nawain thinking, "Maybe he's selling the service."

Aerilia says to Asildu, "Even if you can justify your masters destroying an unrelated settlement in a fit of anger, you can't be blind to the reality that sorcery has reduced the effects of wild magic. Multiple times now."

Sofina just arrived.

[General] Your mind hears Elizzibiana thinking, "possible Nawain, one can never be sure these days though"

Asildu says to Casari, "The mortals refuse to hear the Heralds."

[General] Your mind hears Aryss thinking, "using an example I heard before, if someone threatens to kill you if you say another word, and you speak, and they kill you. The murderer is the one who killed."

Asildu says, "The Heralds are trying to save you all. Every last arrogant one of you."

Urbaj asks, "Did the people of Knife Clan refuse to hear the Heralds?"

Casari says, "Yes. Should they? Probably not. But that's how it is. So the Heralds will have to change tactics if they want change."

[General] Your mind hears Aryss thinking, "The killer is responsible for their actions. If you want to argue that it was justified, whatever, but the killer is responsible for the killing."

[General] Your mind hears Lupdels thinking, "Asildu, you warned us against sorcery, yet you knew many were concerned about our missing friends. I swore to Miraena that I was against sorcery, I have kept to that promise, yet have not seen the adventurers rescued, but have witnesses destruction in the Crossing and nearby."

Tempest Knight Saragos just arrived.

[General] Your mind hears Elizzibiana thinking, "oh, I know the threat wasnt directed at me as I didnt say anuthing about Dokt"

Asildu shakes his head.

Valynn gazes thoughtfully at Asildu.

Asildu says, "The Heralds answer to no one. We answer to them."

Urbaj says, "Then learn to aim better."

Casari says, "Like it or not, the dictation is not working. Cooperation might."

Casari says, "So get them to cooperate for a second."

[General] Your mind hears Buzan thinking, "change requires sacrifices"

Aerilia frowns at Asildu.

Asildu says, "This has nothing to do with aim."

Eyst looks over Asildu very closely.

Asildu says, "It is the result of an action. An action initiated by you all."

Eyst ponders.

Valynn asks Asildu, "The Heralds really caused this to happen?"

Saragos says to Asildu, "I have a question for you. You may not be inclined to answer, but I would state that, yet again, I'm trying to get to the bottom of this and prove your claims. I hope that you'll answer it."

Valynn frets.

Asildu says to Valynn, "They had to show you."

Saragos asks Asildu, "We felt ripples of unreality and energy surges, saw no-color afterimages, and you and Miraena seemed to have an accompanying physical illness, during Imroth's Sorcery casting event. These were seen and felt just before the the invisible voice spoke to us in anger and the earthquakes and drake attacks happened. Did those ripples and energy surges seem to be manifestations of the Heralds' anger to you, or did they feel as though they were from another source?"

Aerilia folds her arms across her chest.

Valynn gazes down at the ground.

Asildu says to Saragos, "What I felt was the anger of the Heralds. Through my connection, I could sense their rage, the power of it so immense, I could barely endure it."

Clematis just arrived.

Ezerak nods politely to Clematis.

Saragos asks Asildu, "The no-color afterimages, the ripples of unreality - those were the anger of the Heralds too?"

Urbaj says, "That sound really tough for you. Better than being crushed by a spire though."

Aerilia firmly says, "You'll feel it again before this is over, I'm sure."

[General] Your mind hears Amailia thinking, "I'm just starting to believe there's no right answer to any of this. Everyone is still all over the place, ha."

Asildu says to Saragos, "The flashes... the ripples... that was the result of the sorcery. The mixing of elemental and holy mana."

[General] Your mind hears Cythra thinking, "so is Dokt"

[General] Your mind hears Sofina thinking, "So is Dokt..."

Asildu says to Saragos, "The Heralds hated it. They loathed it. It enraged them."

Sclerotia just arrived.

Sofina says in Ilithic, "The anomaly that formed was pure arcane magic."

Saragos asks Asildu, "Thank you for answering, I just want to be clear - the ripples of unreality and the afterimages happened at Imroth's event, where all sorts of Sorcery was happening. Do you specifically associate those effects with elemental and holy together?"

Sofina says, "The anomaly that formed was pure arcane magic."

Sofina coughs.

Sir Madigan just arrived, leading his group.

Clematis nods to Madigan.

Ezerak nods politely to Madigan.

Madigan makes a grunting noise.

Valynn balls up her fists stiffly at her side.

Asildu says to Saragos, "I have told you what I know. You engaged in sorcery. You enraged the Heralds with your blatant disregard of their warnings and your lack of regard for the world around you."

Casari sighs.

Saragos says to Asildu, "In point of fact, I did not engage in Sorcery - others around me did. But the collective you applies there."

Ezerak asks Asildu, "Do you have any information on why it seems like at these sorcerous...happenings, it seems like balance is somewhat restored after?"

Valynn asks Asildu, "The Heralds barely gave any attention to the races until recently. What changed?"

Ezerak nods at Valynn, obviously agreeing with her views.

Ezerak asks, "That is a good question. Why now?"

Asildu says, "I grow weary of the constant interrogations when no one listens to what I say."

Asildu shakes his head.

Tezirite Luna just arrived.

[General] Your mind hears Chyral thinking, "I miss Klurge...now who is going to dye all of my armor pink?"

Asildu says, "At this point, I am starting to feel you are all a lost cause."

Asildu says, "Too arrogant."

Luna nods politely to Madigan.

Casari says, "I'm listening, as are others, but you and the Heralds need to listen, too, or this is just going to get worse."

Asildu says to Valynn, "What changed is the increased use of sorcery. The imbalance. The wild magic."

[General] Your mind hears Ophidian thinking, "I can try.. but maybe more on the red side than pink"

Madigan gets a mug of roasted coffee from inside his traveler's pack.

Medir just arrived.

Saragos says to Asildu, "Are you not happy with this result of seeing this Primal Encasement? The lifesculpted spire seems to match the vision that the Life-magic users had of the world when it was under the Heralds' control."

Asildu says, "I've been saying this from the start."

Asildu asks Saragos, "Why would I be happy?"

[General] Your mind hears Chyral thinking, "everyone keeps going on about Dokt..but nobody every mentions Kurge...the unsung hero of armorsmithing"

Madigan takes a sip of his coffee.

Asildu says, "This is destruction the... collective you... brought upon those people with your arrogance."

Saragos says to Asildu, "Because this is the world they want, isn't it? They're taking an active hand to make the world more like Primal Elanthia, the way it was before."

Aryss just arrived.

Karthor asks, "Destruction, but also creation. Does the spire itself promote the balance in some way, I wonder?"

Karthor strokes his beard in thoughtful contemplation.

[General] Your mind hears Ophidian thinking, "maybe i was his apprentice... just in the shadows so no one seen me"

Aryss looks over Asildu very closely.

Casari says, "Yes... does the spire DO something? Is it supposed to help? Give us something here."

Asildu says to Saragos, "Why do you speak nonsense at me? The Heralds want to fix the imbalance. They want to fix this world."

(Valynn points to the crater and spire.)

Valynn asks, "And that helps?"

Asildu says to Valynn, "If it drives a point home, perhaps."

Saragos asks Asildu, "I'm sorry, let me back up. Are you saying this Encasement is not the work of the Heralds?"

Valynn says, "The only thing that did was cause the death or isolation of an entire community."

Madigan praises Valynn.

Luna nods in agreement.

Casari says, "Okay, to be fair, it's apparently not the first community to be wiped out due to the magic problem."

Asildu says to Saragos, "I'm saying you speak of plans I know nothing about. I came to warn you all against the use of sorcery. That was all I asked."

Asildu says, "It is all I have ever asked."

Urbaj says, "A totally innocent community. The Heralds are basically executing random hostages. If their cause is just, then that's no way to persuade."

Asildu says, "And all I have ever gotten in return is insulted. Accused."

Medir furrows his brow.

Medir walks northeast.

Saragos says to Asildu, "Did the Life-users share the vision of Primal Elanthia they had with you? This has some marked similarities to that."

Asildu says, "I came to help you and you threw it in my face."

Valynn appears calmer than she did a moment ago.

Saragos says, "I'm not actually accusing you of anything, I'm just trying to understand."

Sofina says, "A totally innocent community that suffered due to the actions of a few."

Sofina nods to Urbaj.

Eyst tugs at the tip of his mustache distractedly.

Holy Lash Nawain just arrived.

Apcar gets a diamondwood camp stool with an embroidered goldweave seat from inside a swirling eddy of incandescent light bound by a gold-striated coralite frame.

Asildu says to Sofina, "I hope those few are happy with themselves."

Apcar opens the camp stool.

Apcar sits down on the camp stool.
The camp stool sags and creaks some.

Sofina says, "Ah, the Butcher arrived."

Sofina smiles at Nawain.

Aerilia frowns.

Nawain fixes Sofina with a solid, steady stare.

Medir just arrived.

Medir walks south.

Aryss says, "Well IF you speak for the ones who assault innocent bystanders, you're gonna have a bad time."

Luna says to Asildu, "You're making this about you, which is odd for a messenger, it seems to me."

Nawain says to Sofina, "Ahh, the maggot-tender is already here."

Sofina says to Asildu, "They are not. They patted each other on their backs complimenting one another on their efforts that evening."

Luna peers quizzically at Asildu.

Asildu says to Luna, "Because I came to help you. I came here to help the Heralds help you."

Asildu says, "And you refused to listen. You called me a liar."

Sofina says to Nawain, "I always show up where therers death."

Luna says, "And yet they send drakes..."

Sofina smiles at Nawain.

Nawain asks Sofina, "Tsk. Such lies. Have you ever spoken a truth in your life?"

Sofina says, "Look around, plenty of it too."

Valynn says to Sofina, "Kindly do not sow dissension when you practice the very essence of perverted magic."

Sofina casually observes the area.

Casari asks Asildu, "Ignore the opposition stance for a moment and just... listen. Can you ask the Heralds to work with us? Can you try? One more time, to get them to see how EASY it would be to get more to heed their wishes by giving us SOMETHING?"

Madigan moves into position to block attacks against Valynn!

Asildu says to Casari, "At this point, I don't think it would do any good. The 'collective you' will never listen. You will never learn."

Casari frowns.

Urbaj says, "This "scholar" has nothing to contribute beyond a feeble defense of mass murder. My path is clear."

Sofina says to Valynn, "I know what I practice, I practice sorcery and I wont stop. But my sorcery didnt bring a meteor down upon a clan."

Stellar Statistician Urbaj strolls south.

Valynn raises an eyebrow.

Casari says to Asildu, "That's a real shame, because I know what's going to happen if they don't, and it's horrible."

Valynn glances at Asildu.

Eyst asks Asildu, "I believe your colleague, Miraena, has had some success in gathering a number of people to follow your way of thinking. This collective 'you' that's being bandied about is quite so all-encompassing is it?"

Ezerak nods at Casari, obviously agreeing with her views.

Luna nods in agreement.

Madigan grins at Valynn.

Nawain holds her chalice at arm's length, gazing at Asildu through its translucent structure. After a moment she blinks and lowers it, glancing at Asildu thoughtfully.

Madigan takes a sip of his coffee.

Aryss sarcastically says, "But we all know how pro sorcery knife clan was."

Saragos asks Sofina, "Are you claiming some responsibility for the failure of the attempt to rescue our missing people? Is that what I'm hearing?"

Asildu says to Eyst, "The arrogant voices are too loud."

Nawain frowns at Asildu.

Valynn says to Saragos, "She's claiming not to practice sorcery."

Asildu asks, "You want me to speak to the Heralds?"

Sofina says, "Not what I said."

Sofina smiles vval

Casari gazes at Asildu.

Saragos asks Sofina, "Sounds like you're claiming to have dropped that meteor. Are you saying you worked to sabotage that attempt?"

Sofina says to Saragos, "And no, I have no responsibility for what happened in the tower. I had no part in that. That was yours and the Clerics experiment."

Casari shifts her weight.

Asildu throws his hands in the air, shouting up at the sky, "They want me to speak to you!"

Eyst frowns.

Luna gazes at Asildu.

Karthor strokes his beard in thoughtful contemplation.

Valynn asks Sofina, "And your participation in Mazrian's first experiments. That wasn't sorcery?"

Asildu exclaims, "They continue to doubt you! They continue to oppose you!"

Apcar rolls his eyes.

Apcar stands up.

Apcar closes the camp stool.

Casari sighs.

Sofina asks Valynn, " Why would I be angry about the usage of sorcery?"

Apcar puts his stool in a swirling eddy of incandescent light bound by a gold-striated coralite frame.

Sofina peers quizzically at Valynn.

Eyst says, "I'm not sure I like where this is going."

Casari asks, "Why does it have to be like this?"

Apparently Apathetic Apcar slinks south.

Aryss says to Asildu, "See, here's the problem. I have never practiced sorcery, not once. I hadn't really taken any "sides" here, but then the Herald's dropped a meteor on an entire clan, just doing their own, rather specifically not magical thing in the woods. So maybe I'm not to keen on their message anymore."

Ezerak nods at Casari, obviously agreeing with her views.

Asildu exclaims, "Maybe they need another warning? Another message!"

Sofina says, "Anytime I cast a spell I use sorcery..."

A voice calmly states "We concur," and you are momentarily overwhelmed with a foreign feeling of disgust. You cannot recall what the voice sounded like, though it echoes all around you.

A deep golden light flashes across the area for a moment.

The sky splits, and several writhing meteors fall from the sky, tearing towards Wolf Clan!

Sofina casually observes the area.

Karthor peers over the rim of his spectacles.

Madigan calmly says, "Join on me if we get a ton of drakes."

Ryeka blinks.

Saragos joins Madigan's group.

Casari says, "Please...."

Madigan puts his coffee in his traveler's pack.

Valynn joins Madigan's group.

Madigan draws forth a massive agonite-bladed zweihander balanced by a silver dragon-shaped hilt.

Aerilia frowns at Asildu.

Nawain asks Asildu, "Why do you continue this charade? Does anyone here actually believe that this being is a mortal man?"

As the meteors tear across the sky, they leave billowing lines of ash and they curve downward, impacting over Wolf Clan!

A deafening explosion to the west washes over you!

Nawain frowns.

Luna joins Madigan's group.

Valynn looks at Asildu and sighs.

Sofina says, "See, now if he causes the destruction of something he'll have to answer."

Nawain joins Madigan's group.

Ezerak blinks.

Aerilia exclaims, "No!"

Asildu slips and falls backward, slamming his head on the ice.

Ezerak sighs.

Nawain puts her chalice in her slender rugursora.

Sofina says, "This iw how it works."

Casari begins to focus intently on Asildu.

Casari grows flushed as she segues to the new verse of her song, biting off each word with a fierceness that seems to incite the very air as a conflux of flames and frost is born about her.
