Persayis was born an only child of a rather unfortunate circumstance. Her father was a Lord from the Mountain Elf clan. He was betrothed to a woman of his clan, but the moment he set eyes on a young Elvin woman from a nearby River Clan, he knew he must marry her. He gave up his title and left his clan in order to court her, and she fell in love with him. They made their home in Leth Deriel. Soon Persayis was born, and the little family rejoiced at the birth of their first daughter. Unbeknownst to them, her father's family was still angry at his betrayal. One night, Persayis awoke to a world of screams and fire. Her mother rushed into her room and gathered her into her arms. They both fled into the night, hoping to seek refuge with her mother's people in Shard. When they made it to the River Clan a tall man met them at the first home they passed. He was a stern looking man, but lines of worry creased his face as he looked on Persayis's mother. Her mother leaned close and whispered something urgently to him. At this his face grew panicked, and he glanced down at Persayis with barely contained loathing. Just then a cloaked figure appeared behind her mother, and slid a stiletto deeply into her neck. Persayis watched the scene in horror, looking to the tall man to do something. A tear crept down his cheek, as he gazed down at the fallen women.

The cloaked figure did not make a move to attack either Persayis or the man. He made a sound somewhat like a hiss and handed the tall man a folded note before disappearing into the shadows from whence he came. The tall man glanced down at Persayis, and then began reading the note. He sighed and spoke without looking down again. "Do you know what this note says?" He asked, obviously knowing she did not. Persayis shook her head through tears as her throat constricted with grief. He continued, "If you stay here, they will kill all of my people. I cannot sacrifice them, even for my sister's child." He glared down at her then and spat "Zicen escheni" before turning away. Halfway to his home he stopped, and uttered the last words Persayis ever heard him speak "Be gone now, leave this place, I care not where you go." Left homeless and unwanted she wandered the outskirts of the town. She hid beneath the bridges at night, hoping not to be found by the thugs that roamed the streets looking for prey. On a particularly cold night she was passed over by an old wagon gilt with multicolored fabrics and bells. Desperate for help Persayis called out. The people were merry folk, and took her in as their own, teaching her how to use her gifts and her love for the stars.

With the gypsies she found a glimmer of hope in her newfound world. As Persayis grew older she felt an emptiness that gnawed at her heart. Not sure whether the compelling feeling that she must move on came from those she grew up around, or some unknown force calling her to a task she must perform; she gathered her few belongings and said farewell to her tribesmen. Either way she knew fate had something in store for her. She found her way to Crossing, and joined the Moon Mage guild, a feeling of purpose now filling a little bit of that emptiness. Not long after her days in Crossing she met Luceano, Tallen, and Ylenia. They were all kind, and she quickly grew fond of each of them. They started a pack, Vern Del Katamba, and asked Persayis join them. She gladly agreed, and found that no better a loyal group of friends could she have. Fortune smiled upon her again when she met a lovely gypsy in Riverhaven named Ryonia. She felt a bond with this woman, a kinship that went deeper than their Elvin ties and that of their sect. Often they shared the same thoughts, and it wasn’t long until they realized that they were meant to be sisters. Ryonia and her mother Urla adopted Persayis into their small family, and Persayis felt a love and acceptance that she had not felt since before the loss of her parents. Yet even with all this newfound joy, a piece of Persayis heart yearned for something more. She continued to study hard, and found that the company of her pack and new family helped drowned out this hole in her heart, if only for the moment.

One day while studying in her guild with her pack sister Misshandra, she met a Prydaen scholar named Sarambor. Immediately she took a liking to him. He was handsome, witty, smart, and made her laugh often. They grew to be friends, and then soon to love one another. With Sarambor, Persayis found a deep love that she knew not existed, and the gnawing in her heart ceased. Her heart no longer aching, and her life filled with great friends and love, Persayis soon forgot her troubled past. However, it is unknown if it has completely forgotten her.
