[Mystical Machinations, Entryway]
Tendrils of ice blue mist swirl in an hypnotic dance around a coruscating orb of dark cerulean light that hovers in the center of this chamber. Walls of pearlescent white marble encase the strange building like a tomb, lending a feeling of solace and remoteness to this Enchanter's workshop.
You also see a nimbus of ghostly light, an ornate silver stand with a glistening ethereal tome on it, and an elegant crystal-paned sign.
Obvious exits: northeast, east, southeast, southwest, west, northwest.

The sign reads:

look orb
You peer into the corruscating orb and behold a vision within its misty depths...

[Mystical Machinations, Beading]
A nimbus of ghostly light shudders quietly in the center of the chamber, extending its spectral fingers out toward the dark marble walls greedily. A fuzzy illumination suffuses the wares laid out for sale.
You also see a holy symbol rack with some stuff on it, an engraved silver plaque, an onyx crest pedestal with some stuff on it, a glass-paned jewel case
Obvious exits: none.

peer east
[Mystical Machinations, Healer's Chamber]
A large crystalline pool inlaid with pattern of twining malachite vines dominates the chamber. Bright gaethzen globes suspended from the sterile white marble ceiling reflect off the walls, illuminating the chamber with a severe glow that eradicates all nearby shadow.
You also see a vertical pool of rippling crimson blood floating in midair, some plush black velvet cushions, a stately onyx-framed sign, and a rickety cobweb-covered bookshelf with some stuff on it.
Obvious exits: west.

east
As you step into the crimson aura of light suffusing the eastern passage a great pain wracks your body, as if the brunt of the world's anguish had just been thrust upon you. You stumble backwards, and the pain vanishes as you exit the bloody glow.
Roundtime: 5 seconds

You peer southeast and see ...
[Mystical Machinations, Hunter's Chamber]
Verdant tapestries depicting the forest hunt sweep from the ceiling above, lending a semblance of the wilderness to the austere and sterile environment of this chamber. Plush black velvet cushions are strewn causally around the chamber, offering a moment's rest.
You also see some writhing maiden's tress vines descending from the high ceiling, a stately onyx-framed sign, and a rickety cobweb-covered bookshelf with some stuff on it.
Obvious exits: northwest.

As you step toward the southeast, the casually dangling curtain of vines suddenly springs to life, weaving together to form a solid wall of plantlife barring passage to the chamber. As you step away, the vines uncoil once again.
Roundtime: 5 seconds

You peer northeast and see ...
[Mystical Machinations, Justicar's Chamber]
Golden tower shields adorn the cold white marble walls, lending a regal air to this chamber. A single platinum silk tapestry cascades down from the ceiling, embroidered with the image of a faceless man bedecked in plate mail and holding a broadsword in his right hand and an olive laurel in his left. Soft black velvet cushions lie strewn in a reverent circle beneath the tapestry.
You also see a shimmering golden arch, a stately onyx-framed sign, and a rickety cobweb-covered bookshelf with some stuff on it.
Obvious exits: southwest.

You place a hand outward as you walk to the northeast, but suddenly feel the presence of cold steel beneath your palm. A ripple of ether splashes outward from the point your hand touched the invisible wall, revealing its presence briefly before the ripples still and it vanishes once more.
Roundtime: 5 seconds

You peer northwest and see ...
[Mystical Machinations, Hierophant's Chamber]
Austere walls of pearlescent white marble have been draped with somber tapestries depicting the various stages of Life and Death -- the never-ending cycle the gods have bestowed upon mortals. Pale silver taper candles rise elegantly from sconces in the floor, casting their crystalline glow over intricately woven prayer carpets and velvet cushions that circle a speckled granite altar in the center of the chamber.
You also see a pale silver arch obscured with ghostly fog, a stately onyx-framed sign, and a rickety cobweb-covered bookshelf with some stuff on it.
Obvious exits: southeast.

nw
As you move to the northwest, a ghostly apparition coalesces before you, its eyes burning with a fiery black radiance. You step backward instinctively and the spectre vanishes into a curtain of billowing silver mist.

[Mystical Machinations, Seer's Chamber]
Gaethzen globes shaded by veils of dusky crystal suffuse the chamber in a moody pall of midnight blue light, muting the severity of the white marble walls. Strange motes of silver light float freely in the air, forming a chaotic display of the heavens' constellations that cycles in the ever-changing dance of Fate's tide.
You also see a blazing tri-color Moongate, some plush black velvet cushions, a stately onyx-framed sign, and a rickety cobweb-covered bookshelf with some stuff on it.
Obvious exits: northeast.

As you step toward the southwest, the malevolent, grinning visage of a bat-winged skull coalesces from nowhere. You cringe in sudden panic and stumble backwards, the vision dissipating at your retreat.

[Mystical Machinations, Elemancer's Chamber]
A symmetric oval of six silver stands rise from the floor, each one grasping a piece of colored crystal. Strange motes of light flicker within their depths, stirring with essence of the elements. Cushions of plush black velvet lie strewn within the circle of crystals, bathed in the ebb and flow of their luminous gaze.
You also see a stately onyx-framed sign, a rickety cobweb-covered bookshelf with some stuff on it, and a dark granite platform.
Obvious exits: east.

o------------------------------------------------------------o | | | o/ Purchasing a Spellbook \o | | ---------------------------- | | | | There are two types of spellbooks you may purchase. The | | more simplistic and inexpensive kind can be found here on | | the bookshelf. These spellbooks are mostly just for show | | and don't have much in the way of fuctionality. They | | will NOT function with any other item sold in this shop, | | except for spellbook cases which they may be put into. | | | | The discerning spellweaver may choose to construct their | | own custom spellbook. These advanced spellbooks have | | several extra features including: | | | | 1) Full spell lists for the profession | | the book is made for. | | 2) The capacity to write small notes on | | each individual spell's page. | | 3) Personalized with your name. | | 4) Upgradeable with various accessories | | sold elsewhere in the shop. | | | | To purchase one of the simplistic spellbooks, simply BUY | | one of the ones off the shelf. Make sure to GET it first | | to be sure it's the one you want. If you would like to | | create a custom spellbook, step up onto the platform. | | | | WARNING: Spellbooks may be damaged if stored improperly. | | You may wish to purchase a spellbook case before you | | actually make your purchase. To purchase one, return to | | the entryway of the shop and manipulate the orb until you | | come across the Receptacles Chamber. | | | o------------------------------------------------------------o

On the cobweb-covered bookshelf you see a sturdy silver-bound ebonwood spellbook engraved with the Warrior Mage Guild crest, a deep azure satin-bound spellbook embroidered with a great tidal wave, a fiery red silk-bound spellbook embroidered with a roaring ball of flame, a stone-grey troll hide spellbook painted with a great ballista hurling a massive boulder, a dusky black velvet-bound spellbook embroidered in silver with the symbol for aether, a lusterous gold-bound spellbook inset with a jagged golden lightning bolt, a sky blue fir-bound spellbook painted with an ominously dark tornado and a burnished mahogany-bound spellbook engraved with a queasy-looking gerbil.

You step up onto the granite platform.
[The Silver Mists]
Silver mist flows all around, obscuring everything but a luminous ethereal orb floating eerily before you.
You also see a pristine platinum sign.
Obvious exits: out.

The ethereal orb whirls suddenly, pulsating with a gentle heartbeat-like rhythm. You draw near it instinctively, wary but curious of the strange magic woven before you.

Seemingly on cue, a shimmering glow suffuses the platinum sign, as if urging you to read it.

The sign reads:

o------------------------------------------------------------o | | | o/ Custom Spellbook Creation \o | | ------------------------------- | | | | To create your own spellbook, you must manipulate the | | ethereal orb various ways. Your creation can be viewed | | within its depths as you progress. On the silver rack you see a supple leaf entitled: "Writing Pad", a thin leaf entitled: "Healing Reagents" and a thick leaf entitled: "The Immortals".

You step amidst a cluster of gleaming silver stars and marvel as they swirl rapidly around you. Gradually their astral dance grows to such a frantic pace that you must close your eyes to regain equilibirum. You open your eyes moments later to find your surroundings changed...

[Mystical Machinations, Writing Tools]
Dark granite walls enclose the small chamber, sparkling with rich veins of silver ore. A strange shadowy rift swirls eerily in the center, clear of all the wares laid out for sale.
You also see a small circular table with a pitch black ink bottle on it, a glass display case with some stuff on it, and a crystallized granite plaque.
Obvious exits: none.

o------------------------------------------------------------o | | | o/ Writing Tools \o | | ------------------- | | | | If you create one of the custom, advanced spellbooks, | | you may write small footnotes on each individual spell's | | page. You'll need to dip a stylus in a bottle of ink, | | then hold the spellbook in your right hand as you write. | | | o------------------------------------------------------------o

On the circular table you see a pitch black ink bottle.

On the display case you see a large rubber eraser, a small rubber eraser, an engraved brass stylus wrapped in detailed malachite ivy, a burnished platinum-tipped stylus inset with a ring of dark star rubies, a dark gold stylus ensconced in delicate silver filigree, a polished silver stylus engraved with an intertwining pattern of dolphins and a sharp dyrachis quill stylus with a twisted bone handle.

You step through the fire-shrouded portal, basking it its warmth...
[Mystical Machinations, Sockets]
Austere white marble walls rise to meet the domed ceiling. The air crackles with heat radiating from a shimmering fire-shrouded portal that has been torn open in the middle of the chamber.
You also see an ornate crystalline table with some stuff on it, a deep ebony socket rack with some stuff on it, an elegant crystalline plaque, and a small silver-framed sign.
Obvious exits: none.

o------------------------------------------------------------o | | | o/ Cover Sockets \o | | ------------------- | | | | You may purchase one of the sockets off of the rack to | | place on the cover of the advanced, custom spellbooks. | | These sockets will hold special non-functional adornments | | like runestones. | | | | They will also hold the crystals on the table that may | | defend your spellbook if it is lost. | | | o------------------------------------------------------------o

The plaque reads:

o------------------------------------------------------------o | | | o/ Kuldaez Crystals \o | | | | The crystals on the table each possess certain mystic | | properties. They can be placed in a socket on a book | | to produce certain effects to protect or enhance them. | | Each crystal may be utilized by anyone of sufficient | | skill, but only Mages of the correct mana type will be | | able to recharge their effects once depleted. | | | | Kuldaez Crystals: Recharged by Warrior Mages. | | The kuldaez crystal is charged with a matrix of | | elemental energy that is released when one who is | | not the owner attempts to touch a spellbook. This | | will result in either a fireball, lightning bolt | | or frost scythe being conjured at the unfortunate | | sap with grabby hands. The one exception to this | | rule is the hafaltu-veined variety, which will | | conjure an ethereal shield around a spellbook for | | a period of time once invoked, to shield it from | | the elements of rain and snow. | | | | NOTICE: As with all things magical, the crystals are | | not infinite. They will deteriorate with time and | | use, eventually shattering. Those more skilled in | | the ways of Magical Devices will find less chance | | of harming their crystal, however. | | | o------------------------------------------------------------o

On the crystalline table you see an ice blue kuldaez crystal, a golden kuldaez crystal, a flame red kuldaez crystal and a hafaltu-veined kuldaez crystal.

On the socket rack you see a petrified crocodile claw socket, a black diamond shrike talon socket, a beryl lion's paw socket, a twisted sanrisi branch socket, a ruby blood wolf paw socket, a crystal hand socket, an onyx panther paw socket, a polished eagle talon socket, a withered skeletal claw socket and a platinum dragon's claw socket.

You also see a dark steel plaque, an ornate wrought iron rack with some stuff on it, and an elegant silverwillow table with some stuff on it.
Obvious exits: none.

o------------------------------------------------------------o | | | o/ Spellbook Locks \o | | ------------------------- | | | | This chamber holds an array of locks which may keep | | the arcane knowledge in your spellbook safe from the | | prying eyes of children, enemies, and overzealous | | apprenticies alike. The plain locks on the rack are | | the most inexpensive measure we have available, and | | each come with a matching key. Be warned, however -- | | any key from one of these locks will open its matching | | lock, regardless if that key was bought with that | | particular lock. | | | | If it is more security you require, the bloodlocks on | | the table may be for you. They are imbued with a bit | | of magic that will identify the owner's essence as well | | as the cut of the key. These locks will only open for | | a key of the same lock type that is also attuned to the | | first person to activate them. | | | o------------------------------------------------------------o

On the wrought iron rack you see a milky blue moonstone-inset spellbook lock, an onyx-studded iron spellbook lock, a ruby-ensconced malachite spellbook lock, an icy blue sapphire-studded spellbook lock, a smooth obsidian spellbook lock, a heavy blued-steel spellbook lock, an emerald-encrusted platinum spellbook lock, an ornate gold spellbook lock and a pale silver spellbook lock.

On the silverwillow table you see a gleaming obsidian wolf bloodlock, an amethyst jadice flower bloodlock, a ruby-eyed platinum dragon bloodlock, a serpentine emerald viper bloodlock and an opalescent triple moon bloodlock.
