Ask any Warrior Mage and they will tell you, Targetted Magic is one of the most painful skills to learn, since typically your weapons skills will not be up to snuff with what you need to fight to train it.

Targetted magic is the ability to direct a spell towards a specific opponent with a higher accuracy than if one had cast it randomly. Targetted spells tend to be a bit clumsy in their use since they require that you actually target in order to be effective. In some cases, Targetted spells can be aimed for specific body parts, though this is a bit more difficult to achieve success with.

Training Targetted magic can be tricky, as the method of training it is no longer a value of if you hit an enemy, but how much damage you do when you hit. Because of this, a popular way of training Targetted magic is by 'snap casting'.

Snap casting is a method of casting spells where you prep the spell, target it if applicable, and cast it as fast as possible. Typically when snap casting, you want to prep the spell as low as possible, this prevents depleting mana too fast from a room.

For Warrior Mages, a good tactic to employ while training Targetted Magic is to use the Aethereal Pathway of Damage. Using this skill allows the Mage's spell to do more damage and hence increases the experience gained with each successful hit. This works best on enemies without armor to deflect or absorb spells, as this decreases the damage and, as such, the experience.
