:Predicted is based on a formula devised by a player, but suffered from limited data and many items having a skill range manually set by a GM so it falls outside of what it would normally be. Actual ranks is the actual rank when you first get the Trivial messaging. Actual ranks would be the best to use if it's entered, but many of those numbers were added shortly before GMs redid the teaching code so not all of those numbers are accurate anymore. The predicted number would be used if if there's no number listed as Actual with the understanding that it's at best an educated guess bordering on wild guess. -[[User:Glimmereyes|Glimmereyes]] 01:48, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Howdy,

Please do not add "modified" items to the Stealing lists. ex: if the base item is 'a crown' there is no need to add 'a coral crown,' 'a gold crown,' 'a platinum crown.' There is currently sufficient data with which we can predict the formula, so adding extra items is superfluous and confusing. On that note, if someone is feeling savvy and would like to help derive the formula from this data, please step up! You can email my play.net addy (luckysevens) for more data/information.

To reiterate, the numbers being posted in "Actual Triviality" please use the following convention. The rank at which you get the following message:

>''You don't feel you learned anything useful from this trivial theft.''

is the number you should record in the "Actual Triviality" rank column. The rank before is NOT trivial, meaning you can still learn from the item. If you are not 100% positive of the rank at which you received this message, please use the "Notes" column to add your data. I will correct information, as I have multiple characters with greatly differing skill levels.

The only factors that determine item difficult are the appraisal value and the weight of the item. Your buffs, bonuses, ranks and stats do not affect the item difficulty score, they merely make you more or less successful in grabbing the item. Once your Stealing ranks reach the Actual Triviality rank, you will no longer learn from the item in question.

All appraisal values are measured in Kronars -- throughout all provinces. This results in some rounding issues, which is why I have focused my efforts on Zoluren.

Please discuss on this page if you have any further questions!

Thanks!

Preeeetty sure agility plays into the triviality. Disc. plays into difficulty but dunno about triviality. So... perhaps additional columns? Or a more complex formula >.< Ewood 01:44, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

gloves from the armory are marked as trivial at 64 (predict 62) but didn't go trivial for me as a MM until 81.

Chamomile from the cleric shop is indicated as trivial at 65 but went trival for me as a MM at 83.

The same happens for my thief, I think some of the values are just outdated, see the main stealing list page discussion. I've noticed that most items in the 80-100 range have been wrong for me.

Differing Appraisal

I get a different appraisal value from the hip pouch sold at Berolt's. No idea if it'll affect the predicted cap so I'll avoid editing the page and just provide the info here.

You are certain that the hip pouch is worth exactly 65 kronars.

Description

Could someone please explain the terminology used on this page. Whether it's just here on the discussion or part of the article. I can't decipher what I should steal, based on Predicted and Actual trivality.

Predicted is based on a formula devised by a player, but suffered from limited data and many items having a skill range manually set by a GM so it falls outside of what it would normally be. -Glimmereyes 01:48, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
