The prepare command is used to make ready a spell. When used as simply as 'prepare spellname' it automatically defaults to the lowest mana capable of casting that spell.

>prep hb Since you're not feeding enough power into the spell pattern to make it coherent, you quickly work your way to the minimum required. You close your eyes and breathe deeply, gathering energy for the Harawep's Bonds spell.

However, using it in the form of 'prepare spell <mana number>', you begin preparing at a higher mana level, and subsequently change the messaging.

>prep hb 16 You close your eyes and breathe deeply, gathering energy for the Harawep's Bonds spell.

When your current mana attunement does not allow for preparing a spell at that high a mana level, you'll receive the messaging indicating so.

>prep hb 355 You have to strain to harness the energy for this spell, and you aren't sure you can get enough to cast it. You close your eyes and breathe deeply, gathering energy for the Harawep's Bonds spell.

Prepare can also be used with the term prepare /hide. Doing this will attempt to hide your spellcasting, not allowing anyone else to see you beginning a spell.
