Correct, except that even the rooms cease to exist. Every time they're reloaded, they're "recreated" from stored data. So they kind of "exist" but they really don't. This is why the shipyards were always empty after crashes. The boats were in areas that didn't exist any more and the only way to make them exist was for someone to enter that area and since there were no boats, there was no way for a player to go on a boat to re-create it.

Fun, huh?
