The problem is I can't seem to grasp what being a Moon Mage means. What is a Moon Mage? What do they do? I'm just looking for a little insight on what kind of lifestyle one might lead.

Magic Prime, Survival Secondary, Lore Secondary.

Moon Mages are often thought of as DragonRealms' "pure mage" class, though that's not quite true. In both intended feel and in their promotion requirements, Moon Mages are survivalist-mages, a bit like if Indiana Jones had magic.

The profession has sole usage of Lunar magic. They have exclusive access to spells themed around teleportation, including actual moving-across-the-whole-game-in-five-seconds travel powers. In addition, they have strong disabling (stop the target from acting) and utility (non-combat) magic. The weaknesses of their magic is that they have sub-par area effect spells, and their spells tend to punish human error.

Beyond magic, Moon Mages also have exclusive access to Prediction. This gives them immediate access to a powerful but temperamental and half-random system for bonusing and cursing skill ranks. Shortly in your career, you'll also gain access to the ability to see event predictions that GMs write to hint at upcoming and current events.

Currently Moon Mages have exclusive access to magical enchanting, but this will not remain the case forever. As it stands, however, much of a Moon Mage's value to other players revolves around the items only his class can create. This is an advanced feature of the guild, however, and something you will be working toward in the weeks and months ahead.

Roleplaying wise, Moon Mages are a diverse lot that is held together in a political structure often depicted as being amoral and manipulative. Their abilities are themed along Lovecraftian and surrealist lines, with the overall idea that the powers your character taps are malevolent, alien and want you to die. Against this deeply pessimistic backdrop, the fiction often revolves around questioning how much control the Moon Mages have over their own destiny and what the proper way to confront it is.
