How We Met

Sitting in the courtyard when she ran in.
Their conversation created a din.
I overheard she'd been laying down in rats,
Saying those things behaved just like brats.

It's important to remember,
That's how we met.
There are some things,
I shall never forget.

I sang a full round of Itharr's song.
I sang it all even though it was long.
When she heard, she giggled and laughed.
She hummed right along in spite of her gaffe.

It's important to remember,
That's how we met.
There are some things,
I shall never forget.

Or was it when I was standing in town.
There was a big fest and she invited me 'round.
It made for such an enjoyable date,
Until flying eels our livers they ate.

It's important to remember,
That's how we met.
There are some things,
I shall never forget.

Maybe it was while the assault was in place?
She slapped a gladiator right in his fat face.
I dragged her body, she nearly was dead,
Straight to an empath who could fix up her head.

It's important to remember,
That's how we met.
There are some things,
I shall never forget.

Perhaps that time there out the west gate,
Laying there headless her body did wait.
Seeing her like that brought me such dread.
Halfway to town she asked, "Am I dead?"

It's important to remember,
That's how we met.
There are some things,
I shall never forget.

Or possibly in M'Riss when I first saw her there...

[Spoken] Wait, we've never been to M'Riss!

It's important to remember,
That's how we met...

I'm trying to remember...

...how we first met.

Conception Notes:

Eerie and I used to love telling the story together of how we first met. One night at the Bard's guild with some of our closest friends I told a completely fictionalized version while joking with our friends. I then asked Alma to tell the tale of how she thought we met. Her version was wonderfully entertaining and we loved it. That got me thinking about various different ways that we could have met but maybe didn't. One of these is the true story of how we met and the others are all actual chronicles of some of our adventures together. For a while I grew reluctant to tell our story because I didn't want to embarrass someone, who became a dear friend, that felt they may have responsible for a small mishap. At first I blamed them but later realized it was not their fault at all. I hope they have since forgiven me for my error.
