== Search of the Shrine to the Dragon north of Shard ==

Lady of Elamiri Ayrell's group went through some embossed silver doors.<br>
[Shard, Sunstone Street]<br>
This section of town seems completely unlike the rest, enfolded in a pocket of peace and tranquility that radiates from the sedate structure of the Temple of Light. Even in darkness, the glow of hundreds of candles and fires from within keeps the building out of the shadows. And even in darkness, the doors to the temple remain open, the gentle sound of rhythmic chanting floating out over the air.
<br>Also here: Aluwyyn, Songbird Mendira whose figure is gracefully highlighted in a soft aurora of silvery-violet light, Nepenthe Huebald, Heart Tender Kethrai, Khozh Elizzibiana who is surrounded by a shimmering shield, Dawnsworn Briaen who is radiating a glowing aura, Stray Stelling, Odcoru's Memory Lupdels, Philomath Miskton, Veteran Apprentice Anuril who has a fiery visage, Mother Jaelia who is emanating a benevolent holy aura, True Bard Navesi, Niliaevat Raesh Isen Malorna, Bastion of Life Karthor, War Chief Garrosh, Paladin Vaddon, Incendiary Raikage who has a shadowy red-eyed raven perched on their shoulder, Kintryn, Ruea, Khhsath who is emanating a malevolent holy aura, Mountain Lord Ezerak, Wild Card Enthal, Tempest Knight Saragos who has a fiery visage, Knight of Meraud Tirost who is surrounded by seven circling blades of ice, Rifkinn, Dragon Hunter Strithas and Lady of Elamiri Ayrell who has a stony visage.

Glancing about the area, Sentinel Esharis takes on a very serene look.

The Sentinel Esharis then opens the door just enough to let her through.

Event Occurred on the 17th day of the 3rd month of Lirisa, the Archer in the year 446. (7/29/2023)

Introduction

[Shard, Temple of Light]
Light from candles set in wall niches reflects off gold-veined white marble columns to relieve the night's shadows. Hushed voices chanting an eternal lullaby filter from unseen alcoves. A pair of embossed silver doors stands open just wide enough for a soul to slip through to the street. You also see a storm-grey cat with gold-flecked crystal blue eyes that is sleeping, a grey and cream muted tortoiseshell leopard that is sitting and a dim alcove emanating faint candlelight.
Also here: Life Weaver Ysilda, Knight of Meraud Tirost, Bastion of Life Karthor, War Chief Garrosh, Salvitoriel who has a fiery visage, Pack Brother Ghust, Hellion Bralinson, Yakesh who is sitting, Niliaevat Raesh Isen Malorna, Mother Jaelia who is emanating a benevolent holy aura, Rifkinn, Field Medic Darkewolff, Philomath Miskton, Veteran Apprentice Anuril who has a fiery visage, True Bard Navesi, Heart Tender Kethrai, Odcoru's Memory Lupdels, Khozh Elizzibiana who is shadowed by the spectral image of a grey-eyed viper formed of fire and smoke, Incendiary Raikage who has a shadowy red-eyed raven perched on their shoulder, Dawnsworn Briaen who is radiating a glowing aura, Nepenthe Huebald and Aluwyyn.

Jaelia pulls Vaddon to her in a tight hug.

Ayrell says, "As the timeframe of this summary covers the better part of the last eight years, there is a great deal of information for us to review in order to ensure we are all upon the same page. For this reason, I recommend everyone take the time while I speak to prepare any magic you wish to cast prior to our departure so that we can begin our investigation as soon as the review has finished. Time is of the essence, but it is important that we all go into this with as much knowledge as possible."

Vaddon smiles at Anuril.

Lupdels nods.

Kethrai nods in agreement.

Ayrell smiles politely.

Summary of Past Dragon Priest Events

Ayrell says, "To begin, although incidents have been occurring far longer than the point at which I intend to initiate discussion tonight, for the sake of time, I shall focus on an attack that was waged on the Spire in - or around - the year 436."

Khhsath just arrived.

Tempest Knight Saragos just arrived.

Karthor nods to Stelling.

Rifkinn quietly says to Raikage, "We need to hire this one to organize the Raven meetings.... so organised."

Ayrell says, "This attack was led by Yraggahh the Black as retribution for an attack led by the Dragon Priests against him and several others in his company during a visit to the Ru'atin Peri'el on Aesry Surlaenis'a. Although I was not present for the attack on Surlaenis, it was relayed that the Dragon Priests opened an unstable moongate through which Qihhth and Sorhhn leapt through, only to then be captured and sacrificed to the World Dragon."

Rifkinn motions to Ayrell.

Raikage chuckles at Rifkinn.

Ghust snorts, loudly.

Darkewolff nods at Rifkinn, obviously agreeing with his views.

Whynd nods.

Ayrell says, "Prior to assaulting the Spire, a prayer was issued to Peri'el, after which a cackling was heard upon the air. Once inside, the group took down as many Dragon Priests as they could, reporting that the Priests were utilizing some sort of machinery for unknown purposes, and that the Priests were being led by an old crone."

Haxen just arrived.

Saragos nods to Tirost.

Darkewolff nods to Whynd.

Sofina nods to Whynd.

Whynd nods politely.

Stelling gestures.

Whynd smiles at Darkewolff.

Whynd nods in agreement.

Ayrell says, "As for the machinery, it was described as bearing the sounds of stone grinding and metal screeching along with the distant rumble of gears and chains spinning. The old crone is said to have declared, "Your blood will feed the stones." After this, Yraggahh reported there was a loud thud, followed by the recession of several stones in the floor and walls. The stones were said to shift with a loud rumble with a series of clicks emanating from the masonry - and then there was silence."

Kethrai frowns at Ayrell.

Ayrell says, "Moving ahead to the year 439, I accompanied Navesi and several other Bards on a diplomacy mission into the Spire in hopes that we may be able to learn more through conversation than battle regarding what was happening in the Spire. At this time, we were introduced to the Ecclesiarch, Suulnir, whose reputation lent her the title of "Voice of the World Dragon."

Yakesh just arrived.

Patron of the Arts Shashra just arrived.

Yakesh laughs!

Stelling gazes off into the distance.

Garrosh suddenly bursts into a frothing avalanche of rage!

Garrosh explodes in a wild rage of dangerous power, his bloodshot eyes gleaming with an insatiable lust for battle!

Garrosh changes stance and becomes the epicenter of a violent rage!

Garrosh bursts into a violent rage that amplifies his attacks!

A rush of color fills Garrosh's face as ripples of ravenous energy race into his limbs!

Garrosh hands shake in a furious anticipation!

Garrosh's muscles briefly flex with new strength!

Fury flashes across Garrosh's face, filling his eyes with focused rage.

Garrosh bursts forth with a whirling shield defense!

In a flash Garrosh fills with a flood of resilient rage!

Mendira smiles at Ayrell.

Miskton nods politely to Shashra.

Yakesh ponders.

Ruea smiles.

Shashra nods politely to Miskton.

Ayrell nods politely to Shashra.

Garrosh visibly churns with an inner rage!

Garrosh visibly churns with an inner rage!

Garrosh visibly churns with an inner rage!

Yakesh says, "Aluwyyn."

Ayrell says, "Also, for the sake of time, I will provide more of a summary of what was discovered during this meeting rather than a walkthrough of it in its entirety.

Suulnir spoke of the possibility that some in attendance might be there for retaliation for "those that struck out three years ago." She advised that "three years ago, we still had not fully realized a unified purpose. There were members of the old vanguard who still held to the old ways. The attacks on Aesry, and on your Bards, were acts of that old vanguard. They have come around to my way of thinking, at least for now, and have been dealt with in a manner befitting their station."

Briaen nods graciously at Shashra, giving her a polite smile.

Aluwyyn calmly asks, "Hm?"

Shashra glances at Garrosh.

Garrosh visibly churns with an inner rage!

Shashra quietly asks, "I see someone is displeased with the conversation. Or perhaps it is that I was late?"

Healer Syeh just arrived.

Garrosh visibly quakes with an inner fury!

Garrosh narrows his eyes, focused within his fury.

Garrosh visibly churns with an inner rage!

Mendira smiles at Shashra.

Darkewolff nods.

Ayrell says, "When asked if she was the new leader of the Dragon Priests, Suulnir clarified that she is no emperor and that such a title belongs to the Dragon alone. She described herself as simply one who "preaches a new way." When I inquired of the Dragon, and the name Ael'tharaxus, Suulnir was quick to silence me, as I had not, in her words "proved yourself worthy of speaking the name of the Dragon Emperor and do not appreciate the gravity of which you speak."

Yakesh chuckles.

Garrosh visibly quakes with an inner fury!

Tirost frowns.

Ayrell says, "Suulnir spoke of setbacks following the deaths of Hhrsaraa and Tenebraus, but spoke of an opportunity to establish a new order among the servants of the Dragon. She stated the Emperor had finally established himself on a unified throne that stretches an Empire claiming territory from the gates of Raven's Point to the Nirefrei River - and to Steelclaw Clan."

Ayrell says, "Additionally, she spoke of the past thirty years having been enlightening and that it had taken that long to find a semblance of unity, though some still follow the old ways. In her words, "For the first time in nearly four decades, we have a singular goal. The breeding pits again twist with life. The assassins have sharpened their blades. And now, our Emperor brings us guidance and hope. The children of the Dragon will usher in a new era of enlightenment that you will all be honored to witness."

Garrosh visibly churns with an inner rage!

Ayrell says, "At this time, we heard a faint grinding echo from within the corridors of the Spire, as if a large creature were sliding through hallways much too small for its body in the lower chambers of the citadel."

Aluwyyn gazes at Ayrell.

Tirost nods to Ayrell.

Ayrell says, "Suulnir continued, as if nothing had happened. She spoke of a promise of peace. That those within the Spire had kept the word of the Emperor, regarding his promise not to attack the city. She did, however, state that she could not speak for all who serve the Dragon and that there are, naturally, dissenters to the new will of things. With regard to those in the Spire, she advised that they reserve the right to defend themselves using any means they see fit and that no walls will stop them, especially not one that simple ruffians could bypass."

Salvitoriel says, "That sounds forbodeing."

Garrosh whirls about in a bold, flashy manner!

Garrosh visibly quakes with an inner fury!

Lupdels nods to Salvitoriel.

Ayrell says, "Regrettably, though expectedly, Suulnir was vague in the answers she provided. She spoke of a unified purpose. The creation of something new. A new dawn of reborn magics the likes that have only been seen by the Shunned. She stated that Glorious creation will be wrought, "and you will behold the works of new magic that we shall manifest something both brilliant and divine."

Garrosh visibly churns with an inner rage!

Briaen ponders.

Shashra says to Garrosh, "Please step outside if you cannot contain your rage at the lack of a buffet."

Shashra gestures out, and Garrosh seems unable to resist her suggestion.

Saragos says, "I was shocked."

Ayrell says, "Despite efforts to determine the identity of these "Shunned," they remain a point of curiosity, all these years later. Suulnir also made it clear that she would not be discussing the details of her peoples' current work and endeavors. The only thing she confirmed was that, as she worded it, "I am no Crone."

Niriniositai chuckles.

Mountain Lord Ezerak just arrived.

Ayrell says, "We again heard grinding noises, louder this time. Following some additional conversation, there was a moment where a significant amount of magic suddenly dissipated from around Suulnir, indicating an intriguing mixture of spells. When the magic fell, Suulnir appeared momentarily disconnected, looking troubled, before managing to regain her composure."

Aluwyyn gives Ezerak a measured bow, deepening it ever so slightly.

Aluwyyn smiles at Ezerak.

Ezerak nods politely to Aluwyyn.

Ayrell says, "Information learned: Upon Whiteburn's examination, it was determined that Suulnir did not appear to bear favor with any of the Immortals. Further investigation showed Holy magic clinging to her person."

Darkewolff nods politely to Ezerak.

Ayrell says, "We then heard a bellow echo from the lower chambers, as something large - and hungry - made a resonating cry."

Aluwyyn ponders.

Ayrell says, "To this Suulnir finally acknowledged our questions, regarding the noise to be that of a "pet." Shortly after this, Suulnir was struck down by one within our group, though not endorsed by the whole. Upon her death, we heard her laugh, and a golden serpent rose from her charred ashes, drawing her back to life. A cackle could be heard resonating through the halls. As expected, this marked the end of our conversation and Suulnir demanded our immediate departure. We, of course, opted to acquiesce."

Ayrell says, "Due to time constraints in order to allow us plenty of time to conduct our explorations, I will attempt to summarize the next bit of information a bit more succinctly."

Aluwyyn furrows his brow.

Lupdels gazes at Ayrell.

Stelling chuckles.

Aluwyyn observes Ayrell with fascination.

Ayrell says, "We attempted a second diplomatic attempt in hopes of speaking with Suulnir again. Instead, our request appeared to have been intercepted, and we were greeted by a speaking pivuh instead."

Salvitoriel observes Ayrell with fascination.

War Chief Garrosh just arrived.

Garrosh glowers darkly at Shashra.

Garrosh joins Ayrell's group.

Shashra glances at Garrosh.

Ayrell says, "The pivuh mentioned having enjoyed watching Suulnir lose her stoic demeanor during our previous meeting with her, referencing the attack which led to Suulnir's death. The pivuh also described Suulnir as "liking the sound of the Ecclesiarch's own voice." The pivuh then assured us our missive to Suulnir had not gone unheard and that the pivuh was "quite happy to accept your surrender of the lands between the gates of Raven's Point and Horse Clans."

Haxen joins Ayrell's group.

Ayrell says, "Of course, we did not issue any surrender. Instead, we posed several questions regarding the pivuh's identity, or that of the one in control of the creature. Sadly, an answer was never granted, though speculation was that it may have been controlled by the very crone having been mentioned before."

Ayrell says, "The pivuh then began to make inquiries of us. Questions regarding our experience with the divine. More specifically, inquiring as to the difference between Hylomorphic and Antinomic magic. We provided the barest amount of information, nothing more than could be gleaned from a few books on library shelves. In exchange, the pivuh offered to answer one question for us. Our question: Who are the Shunned? Her answer... a trick. She twisted our words, answered a different question, winked, and once again transformed into a simple creature without capability of conversation."

Yakesh takes a seat near Aluwyyn.

Ayrell says, "Speculation is that, whoever spoke to us through the pivuh, possibly the crone, appeared to be of a Dragon Priest faction in opposition of whatever it is Suulnir is working to accomplish. This is not confirmed, but is highly suspected, based on conversation and several statements made during our meeting regarding the "pivuh's" opinion of the Ecclesiarch."

Garrosh smirks.

Aluwyyn smiles sourly.

Ayrell says, "Even shorter still, I shall review the additional information we have learned. During an investigation in the Spire, a map was found within one of the chambers. It was a map of each of the known provinces of Elanthia, each with markings for major and minor cities as well as known fortresses, bases, and guild strongholds. The map for Forfedhdar had black ink blotting out significant sections of it with a sharply scrawled notation stating, "Do not show our bases of operations. Security risk: tower known to be breachable." Tomes were also noted on the table with the map, covering the topics of cultural staples and idiosyncrasies, governmental structure, and histories of the people of the five provinces. Dog-eared pages indicated someone had been reading them and noting potential points of interest."

Vaddon joins Ayrell's group.

Kethrai frowns.

Ayrell says, "Lastly, in or about the year 441, Yraggahh and I worked together to arrange an investigation in an effort to locate these supposed Dragon Priest strongholds. We each led a group, with mine starting at the Dragon Priest shrine just north of Shard. Upon our arrival, we discovered the altar there to have been recently used and indications of the Dragon Priests having departed the location only shortly before our arrival. Around and on the shrine, we found traces of ash, spilled droplets of melted wax, charred wyvern fangs, and berry-colored stains as well as fresh tracks and footprints visible in the dirt."

Wild Card Enthal just arrived.

Aluwyyn chuckles at Yakesh.

Yakesh looks at Aluwyyn and blushes.

Darkewolff smirks to himself.

Ayrell says, "It was at about that time I received word from Yraggahh that his group had observed several Dragon Priests fleeing to the Spire and preparing their defenses. I confirmed with him that our intent was investigation and not an assault, and we proceeded onward with our search."

Yakesh sighs.

Ayrell says, "Along the Game Trail in the Gilen Otso Steppes, we came across something of note. Even in the tallest grass, we saw the remains of game carcasses that had long been picked over. On closer inspection, we noted linear notches in the visible bone. Scraps of discarded offal were strewn throughout and in the distance we could hear a number of wild creatures fighting over remains. A faint smell of smoke betrayed a clearing of bare dirt marked by a small pile of burned firewood having seemingly been abandoned not long ago, as well as a bedroll. A scrap of blood-red silk was snagged on a piece of nearby brush."

Darkewolff ponders.

Bralinson hugs Malorna, who wraps her arms around Bralinson with a warm smile.

Aluwyyn winks at Yakesh.

Shashra whispers something to Anuril.

Bralinson raises his hand in a quick salute.

Ayrell says, "We continued on toward the Seord Kerwaith and the Crystalline Gorge. Here, the feeling of being watched intensified. Many cloaked figures could be seen observing our movements from nearby ridgelines and we noticed at least one pattern of repetitive glints from above, directed toward the Spire. It was clear to us that the Dragon Priests were quite prepared for an assault, though their line of defense appeared to be drawn at the Spire. Our belief was that if we bypassed the Spire, we may yet be able to continue without engaging them."

Malorna hugs Bralinson, who wraps his arms around Malorna with a warm smile.

Anuril glances at Shashra.

Anuril whispers something to Shashra.

Ayrell says, "Carefully, we pressed onward. While traversing the ice road, we found the Mountain Road devoid of any distinct Dragon Priest tracks. Our suspicion was that they must have other, more discrete ways of traversing the pass. Throughout the rest of my group's investigation, we found no other evidence to identify any Dragon Priest strongholds, which is why I feel it imperative that we not give up the search beyond the areas we checked that day."

Kethrai nods at Ayrell, obviously agreeing with her views.

Darkewolff nods at Ayrell, obviously agreeing with her views.

Ayrell says, "In closing, I will add the information Yraggahh provided for what his group observed during their search. They scouted the canyons near Horse Clan, where he noted the Dragon Priests were present in abundance. Large numbers surpassing his expectations. He advised they had watchers along the cliffs at all times, or so it seemed, and a way to signal their other holds - especially the Spire. According to Yraggahh, the Priests quickly asserted themselves, fleeing to the Spire and forming riders to cover their escape."

Yakesh looks at Aluwyyn and shrugs.

Ayrell says, "When asked about an estimate of their numbers, Yraggahh replied, "hundreds, at a minimum," and that he expected perhaps more, as they have had decades of peace. Furthermore, he agreed with our conclusion that, if the Dragon Priests use the mountain passes south of the Dwarven city, they do not do so via an open path. He suggested magic or ancient tunneling may perhaps provide passage for them to whatever secrets hide beneath."

Kintryn just arrived.

Incendiary Raikage just arrived.

Tirost hugs Kintryn, who wraps her arms around Tirost with a warm smile.

Kintryn hugs Tirost, who wraps his arms around Kintryn with a warm smile.

Kintryn smiles at Tirost.

Haxen just arrived.

Raikage joins Ayrell's group.

Bralinson joins Ayrell's group.

Kethrai shudders.

Salvitoriel snaps to attention and hails Kintryn with a crisp hand salute.

Ayrell says, "And with that, I believe we have covered the most important points that have come to pass over the last eight years, or so. Additional investigations were conducted, to no avail, much the same as any and all additional efforts by Yraggahh to obtain information directly from the Dragon Priests, themselves."

Kethrai quietly says, "Ugh, tunnels..."

Ayrell says, "So, today... our aim is to pick up our investigation where last it left off and see if we can, with any luck, uncover some answers for a few of our many unanswered questions with regard to the Dragon Priests and their covert activities. It is our hope that we may yet learn enough to stave off the potential threat we continue to believe they pose to the safety of - well... everyone."

Preparation for Departure

Karthor says to Kethrai, "Oy, nothin' wrong with a nice tunnel."

Karthor makes a matter-of-fact grunting noise.

Mendira chortles softly at some secret joke.

Stelling chuckles at Karthor.

Kintryn joins Ayrell's group.

Haxen joins Ayrell's group.

Ruea joins Ayrell's group.

Kethrai says to Karthor, "I was thinking of... a particular set of tunnels."

Karthor nods to Kethrai.

Ayrell says, "If everyone would like to take one last brief moment to ensure all the magic you wish to prepare is in order, we will head out shortly."

Khhsath joins Ayrell's group.

Ezerak takes his rightful place beside Ayrell.

Enthal joins Ayrell's group.

Garrosh quietly says, "Now the fun begins."

Khhsath makes a grunting noise.

Salvitoriel shrugs.

Darkewolff smiles at Garrosh.

Ayrell says, "In case there is any confusion, this remains a non-violent effort to locate the strongholds. If violence seeks us, we shall defend, but we are not, ourselves, seeking violence."

Rifkinn says, "If anyone knows the Swirling winds spell and the sure footing spell, i would appreciate it."

Shashra asks, "I have a question, if you do not mind. If the Ecclesiarch claims to represent the Dragon Priests, what do you make of the disunity of purpose that you experienced on your most recent expeditions?"

Raikage says, "Same."

Raikage grins at Rifkinn.

Aluwyyn calmly says, "Ready."

Stelling says, "To me it sounds like more nice and less nice varieties of conquering us, but that may be oversimplified."

Salvitoriel nods to Kintryn.

Niriniositai left the group.

Kethrai says, "Lots of people will publicly lay claim to undisputed authority, whether it's real or it isn't..."

Karthor grins at Stelling.

Stelling nods to Kethrai.

Ayrell says, "We are not yet sure exactly what to make of most of it, to be honest. It seems, to us, that there may be differing factions within the Dragon Priest ranks and the unity is not quite what the Ecclessiarch believes."

Raikage tugs the sleeves of his plaid flannel shirt up over his elbows.

Niriniositai joins Ayrell's group.

Raikage says, "Ready."

Shashra says, "Intriguing. Thank you for humoring me. I cannot wait to hear what you find on this expedition."

Raikage flashes a wide grin.

Rifkinn says, "There has always been differing factons of the Priests."

Saragos joins Ayrell's group.

Garrosh smirks.

Yakesh ponders.

Fala Sorgin Whynd just arrived, leading his group.

Stelling says, "As surely within all groups."

Yakesh waves to Whynd.

Aluwyyn glances at Whynd.

Whynd joins Ayrell's group.

Whynd waves.

Ayrell says, "At the very least, if the other factions are not in entire opposition, they appear to at least question what the Ecclesiarch is doing. Or saying."

Haxen doffs his top hat at Whynd.

Whynd smiles.

Syeh joins Ayrell's group.

Rifkinn says to Stelling, "Not the Ravens."

Yakesh sniffs at Whynd.

Ayrell nods to Darkewolff.

Rifkinn winks at Stelling.

Klaros nods to Whynd.

Ayrell smiles at Shashra.

You notice Sofina trying to remain hidden while speaking.

You hear the voice of Sofina ask, "What are "the Ravens"?"

Shashra says, "I won't hold you up any further. Happy hunting, and have a fortuitous expedition."

Shashra praises Ayrell.

Malorna says, "Im ready."

Ayrell smiles.

Rifkinn says, "A question for another time."

Navesi asks Shashra, "Not coming?"

Ayrell curtsies gracefully to Shashra.

Ghust quietly says, "We should stay on task."

Miskton nods politely to Shashra.

Stelling nods.

Raikage grins at Rifkinn.

Garrosh shakes his head.

You notice Sofina trying to remain hidden while speaking.

You hear the voice of Sofina say, "I'd be more than interested in that conversation sometime the Rifkinn."

Shashra says to Navesi, "I'm afraid I am no use in a fight, but thank you."

Navesi says to Shashra, "If you are curious, we could perhaps arrange a Paladin escort."

Shashra offers a quick curtsy and steps quietly out.

Patron of the Arts Shashra just went north.

Whynd nods politely to Darkewolff.

Navesi shrugs.

Garrosh shakes his head.

Briaen gazes off to the north.

Garrosh quietly says, "Not even joining in the hunt...."

Yakesh says, "Too much smoking and road dust, hit hte bath some time."

Ayrell says, "Now, our list of locations to check this evening are a bit varied. And my list of places I would like to investigate is too long to touch on all in a single evening, so we will do what we can to check as many as we can."

Niriniositai left the group.

Kethrai nods to Ayrell.

Huebald nods to Ayrell.

Enthal asks Ayrell, "Shall I open the gate?"

Aluwyyn nods to Ayrell.

Ayrell says to Enthal, "Not just yet, but thank you."

Ayrell smiles.

Enthal nods.

Ayrell says, "We will begin in the local area and work our way outward."

Tirost nods to Ayrell.

Ayrell says, "Hopefully, the moons will remain cooperative, else we will be going skating in a while."

Ayrell laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement.

Stelling chuckles.

Niriniositai quietly says, "Well im not going to do it now either if people are going to call it a hunt."

Ayrell says to Niriniositai, "This is not a hunt. Not in my eyes, anyway."

Miskton says to Ayrell, "We've got less than 15 minutes left on Yavash."

Enthal says to Ayrell, "About twelve roisaen."

Navesi nods to Ayrell.

Niriniositai says to Ayrell, "I hope you find lots of knowledge and stay safe."

Huebald says, "It's a 'hunt' for information."

Ayrell nods to Miskton.

Ayrell says, "Hmm. Sounds like skating may be in the cards for us."

Lupdels says, "Knowledge is the most dangerous prey ..."

Ayrell chuckles.

Fala Sorgin Whynd went through some embossed silver doors.

Yakesh says, "All of the sword clinging and such... I always forget that one of the moons is ... Yavash..... so close to myname."

Ayrell says, "Given that we found clues at the Shrine north of the city before, I would like to check there again to see if the Priests may have returned. If they are still utilizing the area."

Dragon Hunter Strithas just arrived.

Khhsath says, "We can only pray the Immortals favor us. Give us the chance to cull their numbers."

Stelling nods at Khhsath, obviously agreeing with his views.

Ayrell says, "Also, given that the Ecclesiarch mentioned Steel Claw, I would like to do a walk around there as well, before we head westward."

Darkewolff nods.

Ayrell asks, "Is everyone joined with me who wishes to accompany us?"

Tirost stands up.

Navesi quietly says, "Bards, we never forget."

Kethrai nods to Ayrell.

Saragos nods to Ayrell.

Stelling asks Ayrell, "And did I hear horse clan mentioned as well?"

Stelling gazes thoughtfully at Navesi.

Guardsman Niriniositai goes north.

Huebald nods to Stelling.

Kethrai says, "Horse Clan would certainly be in the area between Raven's Point and Steelclaw."

Stelling nods.

Ayrell nods to Kethrai.

Ayrell says, "Horse Clan is also on my list of locations."

Stelling nods to Ayrell.

Aluwyyn calmly asks Ayrell, "Maybe make use of the moons first then come back and work locally?"

Ezerak says, "Either way, we'll end up on the ice road."

Aluwyyn nods to Ezerak.

Ayrell nods at Ezerak, obviously agreeing with his views.

Ayrell says, "As a forewarning, due to the travel time, this investigation may run a bit long."

Kethrai says, "Well I brought my skates..."

Salvitoriel says, "I'm sorry i do hope that you find your answers but i must be going."

Salvitoriel just left.

Aluwyyn nods to Ayrell.

Aluwyyn calmly says, "In for the long haul."

Kethrai nods at Aluwyyn, obviously agreeing with his views.

Strithas swears, "I shall protect the wilds."

Bralinson hugs Malorna, who wraps her arms around Bralinson with a warm smile.

Darkewolff left the group.

Bralinson says, "Yall have fun and be safe."

Malorna hugs Bralinson, who wraps his arms around Malorna with a warm smile.

Bralinson raises his hand in a quick salute.

Ayrell asks, "Is everyone about ready?"

Yakesh nods.

Stelling nods to Ayrell.

Garrosh nods.

Tirost nods to Ayrell.

Darkewolff waves.

Lupdels smiles at Ayrell.

Kethrai nods.

Aluwyyn calmly says, "Ready."

Hellion Bralinson went through some embossed silver doors.

Darkewolff says, "Good luck."

Khhsath nods.

Stelling looks at Darkewolff and sighs.

Miskton gestures.

In a blazing fountain of red-gold sparks, a Yavash-red Moongate with a rotating border of entwined helixes blazes into life.

Ghust peers through the Yavash-red Moongate.

A prone Sofina is suddenly swatted from concealment!

Sofina grows deathly pale!

Sofina stops listening to Navesi.

* Sofina is slain before your eyes!

Ghust bows to Ayrell.

Navesi raises an eyebrow.

Mendira blinks.

Ghust lays his hand on Sofina's arm.

Ghust quickly recoils as if stung.

Stelling gazes at Sofina.

Aluwyyn blinks.

Darkewolff begins chortling at Stelling.

You hear the ghostly voice of Sofina say, "Hmm."

Anuril casually observes the area.

Jaelia gasps!

Kethrai glances at Sofina.

Karthor narrows his eyes.

Yakesh says, "Well."

Ayrell says, "Hmm."

Miskton blinks.

Huebald frets.

Mendira gazes at Sofina.

Garrosh quietly says, "Well that was fast."

Ghust quietly says, "Well, that was intersting."

Tirost raises an eyebrow.

You hear the ghostly voice of Sofina say, "Well...that wasnt not expected."

Aluwyyn calmly says, "That was unexpected."

Lupdels blinks.

Ayrell peers through the Yavash-red Moongate.

Ghust quietly says, "Thank you for the gate."

Jaelia says, "She has necromancy upon her."

Stelling says, "Idon takes things seriously."

Stelling nods in agreement.

Jaelia says, "But - all can join."

Darkewolff nods to Stelling.

Mendira furrows her brow.

Ghust quietly says, "Apparently so."

Ruea says, "These parties are getting wild."

Aluwyyn calmly says, "Ah."

Ghust nods.

Ruea takes a sip of her wine.

Ayrell says, "We will be moving in five."

Ghust bows to Ayrell.

Malorna pokes Sofina to see if she will move.

Pack Brother Ghust went through a Yavash-red Moongate with a rotating border of entwined helixes.

Anuril dryly says, "Well if that's what happens, what say we linger here a little longer..."

Navesi says, "Indeed. Idon has spoken."

Tirost looks at Ruea, obviously trying not to grin.

Strithas joins Ayrell's group.

Lupdels glances at Sofina.

A Yavash-red Moongate with a rotating border of entwined helixes collapses in on itself.

Aluwyyn calmly asks Ayrell, "May I link to you in case we run into combat?"

Ayrell smiles at Aluwyyn.

Khhsath snorts, loudly.

Yakesh says, "Well that just happened."

Ayrell says to Aluwyyn, "Of course."

Aluwyyn brushes Ayrell with the back of his hand in a familiar way.

Saragos says, "Heck of a place to come if you're not right with the Immortals."

Briaen frowns.

Aluwyyn nods to Ayrell.

Lupdels recites:

"May Idon's glory shine on us, his charm and wit inspire us and his wrath fall far from our doorstep!"

Briaen gazes at Sofina.

Kethrai nods at Saragos, obviously agreeing with his views.

Ayrell nods at Saragos, obviously agreeing with his views.

Ayrell says, "Moving."

Stelling nods at Lupdels, obviously agreeing with his views.

Search of the Shrine to the Dragon north of Shard

Lady of Elamiri Ayrell's group went through some embossed silver doors.
[Shard, Sunstone Street]
This section of town seems completely unlike the rest, enfolded in a pocket of peace and tranquility that radiates from the sedate structure of the Temple of Light. Even in darkness, the glow of hundreds of candles and fires from within keeps the building out of the shadows. And even in darkness, the doors to the temple remain open, the gentle sound of rhythmic chanting floating out over the air.
Also here: Aluwyyn, Songbird Mendira whose figure is gracefully highlighted in a soft aurora of silvery-violet light, Nepenthe Huebald, Heart Tender Kethrai, Khozh Elizzibiana who is surrounded by a shimmering shield, Dawnsworn Briaen who is radiating a glowing aura, Stray Stelling, Odcoru's Memory Lupdels, Philomath Miskton, Veteran Apprentice Anuril who has a fiery visage, Mother Jaelia who is emanating a benevolent holy aura, True Bard Navesi, Niliaevat Raesh Isen Malorna, Bastion of Life Karthor, War Chief Garrosh, Paladin Vaddon, Incendiary Raikage who has a shadowy red-eyed raven perched on their shoulder, Kintryn, Ruea, Khhsath who is emanating a malevolent holy aura, Mountain Lord Ezerak, Wild Card Enthal, Tempest Knight Saragos who has a fiery visage, Knight of Meraud Tirost who is surrounded by seven circling blades of ice, Rifkinn, Dragon Hunter Strithas and Lady of Elamiri Ayrell who has a stony visage.
Obvious paths: east, west.

Navesi praises Lupdels.

You follow Ayrell west.

You follow Ayrell north.

[Shard, North City Gates]

Glancing about the area, Sentinel Esharis takes on a very serene look.

Ayrell knocks on the door set into the city gate, and the Sentinel Esharis looks at her carefully.

The Sentinel Esharis then opens the door just enough to let her through.

[Small Orchard, A Quiet Grove]
Starfruit trees link hands in a circle to form a quiet grove here. Small, drooping snowdrop flowers spring up around the wicker benches and white ironwood picnic table, creating a place of leisure, where one may sit and allow even the wildest dreams to distill into lucidity beneath the changing moonlight. You also see a large flat rock.

Obvious paths: west.

Lady of Elamiri Ayrell's group wandered down some cracked marble stairs.
[Shrine to the Dragon, A Dank Passage]
Streams of light trickle over some uneven jade stairs to the north. A passage westward leads towards the rest of the shrine.

From the darkness you hear a voice say, "If things go badly on this mission, we do have quite a few empaths with us. Call out if you need healing."

From the darkness you hear a voice say, "Yes please."

Tirost nods.

A feline hiss emerges from the darkness.

From the darkness you hear a voice say, "Everyone, keep your eyes open as best you can around here."

Kethrai twitches an ear nervously.

You follow Ayrell west.
[Shrine to the Dragon, A Dank Passage]
The murals that were once here have long since faded from the walls, leaving behind broken plaster and crumbling stone as their remain. The only apparent exit lies east.

The air shimmers, and a dark onyx arch appears!

Strithas loads his battle bow with some Mage Spike arrows.

From the darkness you hear a quiet voice say, "It sounds like s...."

Kethrai blinks.

The air shimmers, and a dark onyx arch appears!

Lady of Elamiri Ayrell's group went through a dark onyx arch.
[Shrine to the Dragon, Central Chamber]
This chamber is carved directly into the stone of the caverns. The walls are a dark green jade, encircling a stained altar that rests in the very center. Statues, shattered and smashed by time and angry mortal hands alike, stand forever frozen in broken dances. Elegant brass sconces still flicker with mystic lights, dim but bright enough to illuminate the area. You also see some tattered silk tapestries, a stained jade altar and some twisted stone stairs.

Ayrell searches around for a moment.

Anuril squints.

Strithas searches around for a moment.

Briaen clenches his fists.

Ezerak ponders.

Garrosh clenches his throwing axe tightly until his knuckles go white.

Navesi gazes about, drinking in her surroundings.

Ayrell says, "This was where we found indications of offerings and activity in the past."

Aluwyyn nervously says, "Magically null."

Tirost examines a stained jade altar.

Lupdels gazes about, drinking in his surroundings.

Huebald nods to Aluwyyn.

Malorna nods to Aluwyyn.

Malorna shudders.

Jaelia reaches out and touches a stained jade altar.

Jaelia shivers slightly.

Rifkinn says, "Good."

Khhsath's tail undulates in an agitated fashion.

Rifkinn grins like an idiot.

Aluwyyn chuckles at Rifkinn.

Miskton chuckles.

Garrosh quietly says, "Seems to be nothing upon it."

Briaen gazes at a stained jade altar.

Lupdels gazes about, drinking in his surroundings.

Ayrell nods in agreement.

Jaelia says, "It is a Holy Altar."

Huebald searches around for a moment.

Lady of Elamiri Ayrell's group climbed down some twisted stone stairs.
[Jade Cavern, Vestibule]
Elaborate stone carvings arch overhead, twisting into fascinating shapes. Tall columns crafted from translucent jade flank the walls that lead further west into the heart of the caverns. You also see a pile of coins and some twisted stone stairs.

You follow Ayrell west.
[Jade Cavern, Dark Passage]
The walls are gouged and scratched, chunks of rock ripped from the once-polished and painted murals. Fragments of tile lie shattered on the floor, crunching at the lightest touch.

You follow Ayrell west.
[Jade Cavern, Small Opening]
Luminescent walls of rough green jade curve around you, the cupped, smooth hands of the earth. A path chisled into the stone floor leads east.

Aluwyyn assumes a meditative stance, concentrating on something.

Malorna assumes a rigid stance, concentrating on something.

Kethrai closes his eyes for a moment and grows still.

Karthor assumes a meditative stance, concentrating on something.

Lupdels gazes about, drinking in his surroundings.

Huebald assumes a calm stance, concentrating on something.

From the darkness you hear a voice say, "Perhaps they opted not to return after they saw us here previously."

From the darkness you hear a voice say, "Or it just is not the right time."

From the darkness you hear a quiet voice say, "Or its a trap."

From the darkness you hear a voice ask, "Are Dragon Priests more of an earlier riser than night owl?"

From the darkness you hear a voice say, "That is always a possibility."

Kethrai lashes his tail.

From the darkness you hear a voice say, "Be ready."

Navesi pats Kethrai on the back.

From the darkness you hear a voice say, "We have seen them active at night before. I am not certain if they have a preference."

You follow Ayrell east.
[Jade Cavern, Dark Passage]
The walls are gouged and scratched, chunks of rock ripped from the once-polished and painted murals. Fragments of tile lie shattered on the floor, crunching at the lightest touch.

Khhsath just arrived.

Khhsath joins Ayrell's group.

You follow Ayrell east.
[Jade Cavern, Vestibule]
Elaborate stone carvings arch overhead, twisting into fascinating shapes. Tall columns crafted from translucent jade flank the walls that lead further west into the heart of the caverns. You also see some twisted stone stairs.

Kethrai says, "There was an angry-sounding feline hiss when we first entered. But... I can't promise 100% it wasn't just me."

Tirost grins at Kethrai.

Ayrell chuckles.

Garrosh chuckles.

Karthor chuckles.

Kingpin Menthu climbed down some twisted stone stairs.

Karthor asks, "Echo that bad, eh?"

Lady of Elamiri Ayrell's group climbed up some twisted stone stairs.

Anuril smirks.

Ayrell searches around for a moment.

You notice as a storm-grey cat with gold-flecked crystal blue eyes meows loudly.

Jaelia pets Tirost's storm-grey cat.

Jaelia says, "Best cat."

(Ayrell searches the area for any telling footprints.)

Kethrai holds up his hand and tilts it side to side in a so-so gesture.

Tirost beams at Jaelia!

Garrosh ponders.

Kethrai closes his eyes for a moment and grows still.

You follow Ayrell west.
[Jademist River, Garden Path]
To the east, the edge of a small garden raises its head, starlight reflecting off tiny white flowers. To the west, the fury of the river drones on behind you.

Kethrai says, "Don't sense anyone who isn't with our group at least."

You follow Ayrell west.
[Jademist River, Rose Arbor]
Dark blood-roses twine around a wrought iron arch that towers over the way to form an exquisite arbor. The white stone path accents the darkling blossoms, striking a sparkling, fiery nuance into the richly colored petals.

Ayrell nods to Kethrai.

Ayrell says, "Thank you."

Rifkinn asks, "Where did those stairs go?"

Garrosh quietly says, "Under the flat rock."

Aluwyyn assumes a meditative stance, concentrating on something.

Rifkinn asks, "The ones under the rock?"

Ayrell says, "The stairs led down to the shrine."

Ayrell smiles at Rifkinn.

Rifkinn nods.

Garrosh nods.

Rifkinn says, "Ah."

You follow Ayrell west.
[Jademist River, A Flowered Path]
A well cared for path winds its way to the east, skirting perilously close to the riverbank. Pale white roses bloom in the night air, their silken faces turned skyward. You also see a sturdy white bridge.

Ayrell says, "To begin, although incidents have been occurring far longer than the point at which I intend to initiate discussion tonight, for the sake of time, I shall focus on an attack that was waged on the Spire in - or around - the year 436."

Ayrell says, "At this time, we heard a faint grinding echo from within the corridors of the Spire, as if a large creature were sliding through hallways much too small for its body in the lower chambers of the citadel."

Ayrell says, "Information learned: Upon Whiteburn's examination, it was determined that Suulnir did not appear to bear favor with any of the Immortals. Further investigation showed Holy magic clinging to her person."

Ayrell says, "We then heard a bellow echo from the lower chambers, as something large - and hungry - made a resonating cry."

Ayrell says, "We attempted a second diplomatic attempt in hopes of speaking with Suulnir again. Instead, our request appeared to have been intercepted, and we were greeted by a speaking pivuh instead."

Ayrell says, "It was at about that time I received word from Yraggahh that his group had observed several Dragon Priests fleeing to the Spire and preparing their defenses. I confirmed with him that our intent was investigation and not an assault, and we proceeded onward with our search."

Ayrell says, "And with that, I believe we have covered the most important points that have come to pass over the last eight years, or so. Additional investigations were conducted, to no avail, much the same as any and all additional efforts by Yraggahh to obtain information directly from the Dragon Priests, themselves."

Ayrell says, "So, today... our aim is to pick up our investigation where last it left off and see if we can, with any luck, uncover some answers for a few of our many unanswered questions with regard to the Dragon Priests and their covert activities. It is our hope that we may yet learn enough to stave off the potential threat we continue to believe they pose to the safety of - well... everyone."
