It took me a bit of experimentation to figure out the syntax. Not sure if it's changed over time, but there's minimal guide rails on this now.

The exact requirement seems to be to ask about anything related to thieves, get the 'what, you want to join' response, then ask about join twice.

I was caught on the actual command to join, since I was using 'ask beggar about join thieves guild' but it's just ask beggar about join.

If you're using #goto commands, you want Chizili's Alchemy store, which is currently room 226, or Alchemy. You do not want the alchemy society, which is what the mappers tend to default to.
