| Look: | The heavy head of the hammer is little more than a simple rectangular block of iron. Although the side surfaces and face are perfectly flat, its corners and edges have been left with no rounding or smoothing whatsoever. The opposite end tapers slightly as if to form a chisel peen, but ends with a wide blunt edge. A handle of sturdy hickory is secured tightly within the eye by two small wooden wedges driven into place and sealed with natural tar. |
