User:SCHULTZS3
Hello there. I'm Schultzs3. I'm plagiarizing Caraamon's User page liberally so as to list out prices for Naniaki's crafting services as one of the premier Blacksmiths (and hopefully eventual Jewelsmith) of the Realms. He's also a pretty decent tailor.
People mostly know me as Kaeta Airtag the Healer in DR, though Naniaki Felyran the Trader has more or less been my main character since...2009 or so.
I never really thought too much about making my own prices, just following Apu's price guide on his website and not thinking much about it until I realized that with him leaving the Realms spectacularly a few years back, it's possible that his site will close at some point. Then again, his old site was up for AGES.
Furthermore, on deeper analysis, his prices are rather arbitrary on "labor" part. Some pieces that are a harder project are cheaper, some that are easier cost more, which is backwards thinking to ideal market supply/demand.
I refer to price as pKe. pKe = plat Kronar equivalent. 1 dok = 1.385 kronar. 1 lir = 1.25 kronar. 1 kronar = 1 kronar. I keep a personal arbitrarily defined ratio between currencies goal, and buy gem pouches/bundles in one currency and sell in another to keep the ratio roughly the same. So it's all the same to me. My shop, being in Crossing, deals with Kronar, however, if you want to buy from there.
My Shop, 'Naniaki's Trash and Treasure', is one of the oldest shops around that has never changed owners, or even the name (once I renamed it from the default). It's located on the ground floor of the Crossing Plaza, in the southeast wing. (From the foyer, n, se, s, go arch). Established some short time prior to 26 Lir 398 as the first shop ledger summary entry.
Generally, I lay out stock as follows:
worktable has tools
table has cheap(est) misc. stuff
desk has magical and/or expensive stuff (cambrinth/albredine/gweths)
rack has lockpicks, containers, overflow from other surfaces
locker is generally commissions from other players or further overflow
Contact
Theoretically I can be contacted at NaniakiDR on AIM but pretty much I do everything with KaetaDR on AIM, I purposefully leave it up 24/7 or nearly so. Otherwise, can gweth Naniaki's name in game and chances are the devil will appear when you speak his name...
Forged Stuff
Forged Arms and Armor
Not my specialty at all, but I can do reasonably difficult stuff. For example, I know I can do Ring Loricas (Tier 7) in Lumium (15 workability), but not Tier 8. Not really what I do much of, I just follow Caraamon's pricing, sometimes little cheaper (12/15 plat for steel)
Common Metal Tools
Flat Price | For What |
---|---|
15 pKe | common metal tools up to Tier 10 |
30 pKe | Tier 11 common metal tools (At present this is sewing needles, bone/wood saws, wood shaper) |
30 pKe | Tier 12 common metal tools in darkstone (trapezoidal sieve) |
30 pKe | Tier 12 common metal tools in steel (not presently skilled enough) |
Rare Metal Tools
I pretty much much just sum labor and materials, prices below.
Carving Knives are VERY weighted to density (and hardness). Do not make them out of anything but glaes or silversteel. Even lightened kertig comes out as lightened HC steel.
I personally recommend getting tools from Beyond the Barrier quest if possible. The "main" tool, one per craft sack, is of capped potency and cheaper than an equivalent forged one, and all are what I consider "primary" tools, tools that are used repeatedly throughout the crafting process, usually in strings of consecutive uses.
Rare Metal Prices
Big Disclaimer: I do not, as a general rule, sell my metal as ingots. Ironic because that was a main reason for me to take up Blacksmithing, though now I consider it a calling to provide tools to the realms as a whole. Thing is, there's more margin on using the ingots personally rather than selling, as people do not pay what I consider fair value on even common metal WO ingots. Metal leaves me through the act of finished products. So this is more "how I value the metal" when calculating costs. Subject to change to market conditions.
Prices per unit pure volume, rounded up (generally)
Question marks are uncertain values (uncommon market)
If I say I do not have the metal, don't press me on it. I almost certainly have it, packrat that I am, but have it earmarked for personal use. Bring your own if I say I don't have it.

Labor Rates
Pricing for labor depends on difficulty of project and metal workability. The harder I consider the challenge of the actual work, the more I charge.
Discount on multiple items, 100% labor for most expensive labor, 75% cost on second most expensive labor, 50% cost on subsequent items.
Past Labor Cost estimates
Price | Project Tier and Workability (and example, if not the actual item I'd made) |
---|---|
125pKe | Tier 11, 95 workability (kadepa saws) |
75pKe | Tier 10, 95 workability (kadepa pliers) |
250pKe | Tier 10, 20 workability (icesteel tongs) |
300pKe | Tier 10, 10 workability (most glaes/damite stuff) (theoretical, I haven't QUITE reached this yet) |
200pKe | Tier 9, 10 workability (glaes wide shovels) |
As of Sept. 11th, 2016, I can manage (Using 99 quality metal)
With effectively capped Muse, Tier 12 in 65 workability (60 workability is 95 quality)
With effectively capped Muse, Tier 11 in 45 workability (35 workability is 95 quality, 40 workability is 98 quality)
With effectively capped Muse, Tier 11 in 15 workability (10 workability is 97 quality)

Record of my failure
March 23rd, 2015, I failed to mastercraft a customer's icesteel box-jaw tongs. 97 quality using 78 quality metal. It haunts me.
This tool appears to be extremely effective at increasing crafting speed.
Assessing the tongs's durability, you determine they are quite fragile and easily damaged.
Assessing the tongs's durability, you determine they are particularly weak against damage.
