Skalliweg Barrelthumper, proud proprietor of The Half Pint, perches alertly on a high stool behind the sleek, polished bar, shouting at serving wenches, cooks and customers alike. Patrons dine, drink, dispute and dream on, in spite of the constant hum, draped over comfortable rush-seated chairs or hunched over well-worn tables. Faces flicker and eyes glimmer in the dim light of the wrought-iron chandelier and candles stubs sputtering in crocks on the tables. You also see a high doorway, a menuboard and a dimly lit arch.
