The perfectly honest answer is that I'm totally OK with NMUs getting access to the magic techs that make sense for them, but only if they can pay an ability-slot price for it.

The Barbarian rewrite gave Kodius and I an immediate way to collaborate so that he could build that notion of Barbarian dipping into magic techs straight into their new ability scheme.

Thieves have an ability scheme that could be used, but that simply is not work being done right now.

Traders do not have any such ability scheme and so this would have to wait for a substantial overhaul that I am not a part of.
