Was the group member significantly lower than you, stat-wise? This circumstance was the reason I changed it from group-only to self or group.

How [Redeemer's Pride] works (more or less) is that the barrier gives you a sort of cache of points it can try to use to win an XvW or FvX contest. For someone with decent stats, they may only need a few of the extra points to win, say 1/10 or 1/5 or something like that.

For someone who is much lower, the whole barrier may not be enough for them to win, so it ablates away. The barrier isn't totally useless though in that the points it contributes may still take the success from "rips face off" to "gives a black eye."

However, this does mean that it's fairly trivial to strip the whole barrier from the Bard and his group by casting at the lowest person in it. Tactically, this still may be useful as while whoever it is is doing that, they are not likely attacking the Bard so hopefully the Bard is using this time to deploy some sort of countermeasure. However, if you're leading a group and don't want to deal with the buff being ripped off the first time something big goes after one of the lower people, you can cast it on yourself only.
