You should be able to ASK <trainer> ABOUT TECHNIQUE <technique name> for a description. The Metallurgy technique under Blacksmithing reveals metal %s post-smelting. Anyone can get them on molten metal. The Metallurgy technique in Weaponsmithing gives a sizeable ingredient bonus.
