SvA Contest Changes · on 2/23/2009 6:18:36 PM 10345
Some changes were made to how SvA contest results are determined.

1: The attacker's Targeted Magic skill no longer has any impact on the outcome. For real this time.
2: The defender's Evasion skill no longer has any impact on the outcome.

In the vast majority of cases, the result of #1 overwhelmed #2. The overall result will be a reduction in the spell's offensive power. However, anyone still running around with 0 TM may see a mild boost.

3: Balance modifiers now use the same formula as core combat.

Overall, the impact of balance in this contest has been reduced. The maximum possible benefit of positive balance remains the same, but you now need maximum possible balance to achieve it. Shocking. The penalty for poor balance has been significantly reduced and, mirroring the bonus, now scales all the way to worst possible balance.

These changes are live in all live versions of the game.
