Old skins are not usable in the new system. It is recommended you sell them and acquire new skins for tanning with.

Appraisal difficulty has always factored item value into the mix. I am not entirely sure what makes more sense when it comes to resources, but am open to suggestion. Larger ingots are also harder to appraise.
