I changed the paragraph about the lochaber axe and included the khuj. My preliminary testing seems to favor the khuj over the axe, though they are very differnt weapons and I only tested in gryphons which use no shield/armor. The weight was wrong on the Lochaber axe, which is the same as the Khuj at 62 stone (not 72):

You put your lochaber axe on the counter.

Twelvetoes hefts the lochaber axe and puts it on the medium balance scale. He patiently adds small sacks of stones on the other side till the beam becomes exactly level.

Twelvetoes squints at the balance beam needle and says, "The axe weighs about sixty-two stones," and puts the axe on the counter.

You pay Twelvetoes and take your axe off the counter.

You put your slender khuj on the counter.
