Purpose

To hunt down the perversity of Necromancy wherever it may rear its head.

OOC: Specifically to discourage foolishly showing off that you're a Necromancer. What this most importantly means is that Necromancers are allowed to join the Furies as long as the other Furies don't discover it. It can be entirely IC to do so.

Organization

We are loosely organized, generally not even knowing the members of our own roster. The members may be expected to join other organizations as they will; we care only about your attitude towards Necromancers and Necromancy.

OOC: I intend to set up a website and mailing list for this group, in order to both anonymize and computerize the organization and the ways we escalate things.

Procedure

Level One: The Hue and Cry - Accusation of Crimes
A formal accusation against a person of Necromancy. Nothing is done, but word is spread of the accusation and the reason for it.

OOC: This means that their name goes onto the website for a period of time. If, after two RL months, they are not successfully escalated, then they are removed from the list.

Level Two: The Sound of Her Wings - Absolution by Death
A gentle death, blessed by Eylhaar, this is a targetted strike on an accused villain. The killing Fury (or Furies) is responsible for bringing and finding all necessary aid to bring them back to life, to offer opportunity for repentence.

OOC: If the target is not PvP Open, then it is recommended that an escalation be done immediately. Otherwise, it is proper to wait a short period, such as a week, to provide time for the accused to accept the absolution before escalating.

Level Three: The Bell, Book and Candle - Anathema in Eternity
A rite of society excommunication where an accused Necromancer is declared anathema and whose repentence will not be accepted. (An exception is made where it can be shown that not only was the Accusation false, but that they are definitely not Unholy.) The Furies consider themselves at open war on them, within the bounds allowed by game policy.

OOC: This entails more than making pretty words. The Furies should actively discourage the rest of the community from aiding the Necromancer. If there are ways to exploit Social or Divine Outrage, they should be used (though mech abuse, of course, is a no-no). If the target isn't actually a Necromancer, then too bad for us.

Notes

An escalation may not be done by anyone who previously escalated. The Accuser may not Absolve; the Absolver may not Anathematize. This is a measure of self-moderation. Additionally, an Assent must be declared to escalate beyond Level One.

Addendum

Basis of the Name: I chose it specifically and intentionally to evoke the Erinyes
