I run Aristron in DragonRealms and have been trying to update the item listings here as I go through my vault of God Fest purchases. I also added in the LTB shop for Premium players.
Thoughts on Triage in Crossing
I play an islander Cleric and have mainly been keeping myself in the fissure on Aesry, where things are fairly simple and easy to follow.
Last night I caught a gate back to Crossings to help out during their invasion and was completely overwhelmed by the chaos. There were a few people who were yelling at each other over this chaos, during which I had two of the corpses I was preparing to raise dragged out of the room.
Since this was my first invasion as a raising cleric, I understand that chaos is a big part of things, but I haven't been able to stop thinking about how it could have been better.
Problem
For me, just keeping track of the bodies was a hard task when they were being healed in the same room that we were raising in. Big empaths were able to come in and take wounds from every body part at once, flooding my screen. On top of this since it was an undead invasion people were running in asking for their weapons to be blessed. This one room in the Cleric guild seemed to be the focal point for the entire province in fighting.
Thoughts on a Solution
Forgive me if this is a bad idea or if it goes against the grain of how things have always been done, but it seems that just finding a better spot for mass casualty triage would solve a lot of problems.
I went around the city today using Kythryn's life mana map, looking for areas with connecting rooms of high life mana and high holy mana. This is the best place I found.
Placement
I would like to recommend the use of the temple in Crossings for triage use, for the following reason.
(Forgive my lack of being artistic, I'm going to have to do this in ASCII)
ROOMS
[Dispensary]<-Widdershins<-[Resurrection Creche]->Clockwise->[Chamber of Rains]
The temple entrance is located one room SW of the bank. From there, go gate, north, go door. This puts you inside the Resurrection Creche.
RECOMMENDATION
- On the Mana below, for Life, I used Kythryn's map legend. For Holy, I have 140 PP. For reference, the mana level in the Dispensary appears to me exactly the same as in the Cleric's guild, where the dead are presently taken*
I would recommend the following:
Dispensary | Resurrection Creche | Chamber of Rains | |
---|---|---|---|
Holy Mana | Softly Shining | Faintly Glowing | Quickly Pulsating |
Life Mana | Glowing | Pulsating | Glowing |
Recommended Usage | Rezz, Rejuv, Bond | Weapon Blessing | Healing |
With this setup, Clerics who are raising or prepping raiseable corpses will be in a quiet room, secluded from all other activity. The room has the same holy mana as the current room in the Cleric's guild does.
Empaths preparing bodies to be raised will also be in a quiet room, secluded from other activiity. This room has the same life mana as shown in the current room in the Cleric's guild.
During undead invasions, Clerics not assisting with raising would stand in the entrance, at the recurrection creche. Here they could handle people looking for weapon blesses and help recover the spirit health of anyone who departs.
During a nasty invasion, Paladins could also work out of the Chamber of Rains, helping to ward the bodies of fighters looking to get right back into the fight. This would also make for a safe and quick trip back to the ward. Presently, anyone risking a depart has to walk from the temple back to the cleric guild, naked, and could easily be killed en route. This would help to expedite turnaround time back into combat.
Notes
Now, this would only be for invasions. During times of calm, I'd still recommend using the Cleric guild for everything. But when the spirits hit the fan, I think this might make things go easier.
These are my observations. There really doesn't need to be a triage coordinator if there are well-planned locations where clerics can raise without having to deal with perma-scroll from entry/exit, bless requests, and empaths taking wounds en masse. Empaths would have an easier time without having to remember which of the ever increasing piles of bodies were clean, having to deal with the entry/exit scroll, and clerics continually peering through their spirits. And everyone would be free from random arrivals looking for blesses.
Just the thoughts of a visitor to the area after last night's invasion.
