History
Rivos was born in a small village outside of Aesry Surlaenis. He was born into a family mostly consisting aspiring Bards. His parents were both Bards by trade, his mother belonging to the Ru'atin Peri'el. In his youth, Rivos was relentlessly teased by his family members because of his tone deafness and somewhat grating voice. Undeterred, Rivos spent countless hours with a vocal tutor from The Sisters in an effort to refine his voice. He was determined to make his parents and siblings proud. In return for the tutoring, Rivos would run various errands for The Sisters, whether it be delivering packages or collecting donations from patrons of Peri'el.
Unfortunately, Rivos never was able to overcome his vocal adversity and by age 15, had lost interest and discontinued his tutoring. It was clear to him that he would never be a great Bard, or even a Bard at all. His parents were extremely disappointed in him for not wanting to keep with their traditions. They fought often as Rivos became further dissident and frustrated with his family.
It was around this time that Rivos began having recurring nightmares involving bats, skulls and creaturs of shadow who whispered to him in languages he did not understand. These nightmares were so vivid in detail that the settings and creatures appeared to be real. He would often talk in his sleep in languages his family did not understand. Occasionally, he would wake up screaming or babbling about the visions he had seen. His mother was the most concerned with his condition, The Sisters had sung for centuries trying to keep these kinds of evils at bay. Her faith waivered as she became wracked with guilt.
After severl weeks, Rivos' family decided that they needed to seek help for him. They brough him to the Cleric's guild hall in Aesry and spoke to the preists there. The Asraen clerics had never heard of these kinds of nightmares before, however they were curious and took in Rivos for observation. Several clerics held vigil while he lay asleep for the first week he was with them. Sure enough, the nightmares returned night after night. The clerics however, could not detect any evil which might have been causing the nightmares. His condition remained a mystery yet still.
The Asraen Cleric Guildmistress Innu, a S'kra herself, dispatched letters to her fellow guild leaders in the other cities noting the condition and pleaded for any assistance that they might be able to provide. Two weeks later, she received a reply from Guildmistress Sothavi of Shard. The letter said she had been aware of something which may be able to help the stricken Rivos. She requested that he be transferred to the Shard guild hall as soon as possible. Rivos' family received a small sum of coins from The Sisters in order to pay for Rivos' transportation to the mainland, and eventually to Shard.
Guildmistress Sothavi quickly introduced Rivos to Shard's Moon Mage Guildleader Mortom Saist. Being of the Progeny of Tezirah, Mortom was familiar with the nightmares that Rivos had been having. The image of the bat-winged skull had plagued the Moon Mages for some time as they tap into the Place of Probability. This was rumored to be Tezirah attacking the mages from the Plane. Mortom explained the history of the Progeny to Rivos in great detail. The pieces of the puzzle had finally started coming together for Rivos. Surely his nightmares had been a sign of his true calling. He began studying the ways of the Moon Mage with Mortom in Shard. Eventually, Mortom introduced him to a scarlet-robed mage who inducted him into him into the Prodgeny of Tezirah.
