Open
Opens a container or portal.
OPEN <carried container>

You see: You open your <container>.
Others see: <Name> opens <his/her> <container>.

OPEN <container/portal>
You see: You open <target>.
Others see: <Name> opens <target>.

OPEN <already open target>
You see: That is already open.

OPEN <locked target>
You see: It is locked.
or: You rattle the handle to <portal>. It's locked.
or: You rattle the handle on <container> It appears to be locked.

OPEN
You see: What do you want to open?

OPEN <invalid target>
You see: You can't open that!


Syntax

  • OPEN <OBJECT>
Opens a container or portal.

Notes

  • The observer messages above describe a visible character opening the object.
  • An object that is already open gives "That is already open."
  • A locked, latched, barred or chained object must have the relevant fastening released before it can be opened.
  • A linked portal may refuse to open with "It won't budge."
