A darkly stained pi tambura with polished silver fittings
Look: The pi tambura is a smaller version of its cousin, the tambura, but the characteristic long conical neck and gourd-based soundbox show it to be the larger instrument's twin in all but size. In place of frets, silken threads support each of the four metal strings near the bridge.
