: Agree with this, that it should be too hard to have a small table of woods, leave the longer descriptioned ones out of the table. MOST of the common woods without "descriptions" are not required for alterations too, so should make things easier. --[[User:Ysselt|Ysselt]] 04:27, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Elanthia Only Woods

Caraamon, I disagree with you that wood should be limited to only those unique to Elanthia. Everything that was there is found in Elanthia or in items, and could be foraged, used in alterations, or, eventually, used in the crafting system. Presumably the woods used in crafting, just like stone now, are going to have different properties. Additionally, as a resource for planning alterations, this list would show all that's available and would differentiate between real-wood woods that appear in Elanthia and those that do not (birdseye maple, hemlock, balsa, eucalyptus, etc). Finally, purpleheart, lacewood, haon, shaal, ironwood, and silverwillow are all real-world trees, too, while some that you removed are unique to Elanthia (fishtail oak, bricklebranch, taborwood, etc.) I think if you're going to make a distinction, it's going to get way too complicated. - Hrodberacht 03:00, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

If I deleted those unique to Elanthia, feel free to add them back in. When and if they are added into crafting systems, we can review it. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 09:29, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
I still think it's lacking, though. Let's move this over to the Talk:Wood page; I think we need to hear some opinions other than our own. - Hrodberacht 17:11, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Weigh in on Wood

Please share your thoughts! Should this page attempt to list all of the known woods of Elanthia - that may be foraged, used in alterations, or (soon?) used in crafting - or should we attempt to list only woods that do not exist in the Real World? Much like the things that are going on in Stone, Metal, and Special Materials, this will help decide the direction for Materials pages. Where do we draw the line? Do we draw lines at all? - Hrodberacht 17:11, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

I think it would be worth having at least a list of Real World woods that can be used, just so players are aware which Real World woods are also in game and which aren't. TEVESHSZAT 02:56, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

As I read this, it strikes me that "pedia" is from the Greek paideia, meaning education, or culture. That being said, I would take that to mean that "Elanthipedia" would be literally, education on Elanthia. To have anything less than a fully comprehensive list, containing all the woods (or whatever we're talking about) found in the world of Elanthia seems to just negate the entire point of the site.
