I'm suspecting mental stats may play a part?

* At low circles only train a couple of weapons, if you want to train more backtrain later, otherwise RT will screw you over and you won't train anything well. LE or ME + Brawling are good.
These take place over a few weeks:
* Thieves should train at least 1 ranged weapon, LX and then LT are good choices.

* Learn how to use khri. Focus and Hasten will help immensely once you can use them. Always use them while hunting.

* Train multiple armor sets, if only for the TDPs. TDPs are your friend.
me: my old empath started percing other people at around 60 pp and empathy
* At low levels, mixing armor sets will not work out well for hiding/stalking. Use a full leather setup while training hiding, stalking and BS if you can.

* Backstab training is confusing. Use <attack bodypart> (i.e. draw right leg) from hiding. If you get "masterfully position" messaging consistently, try to move up one bodypart. If you get all "fail to position", move down one bodypart. Start at the right leg and work your way up.

* Train shield. Train shield. Train shield.
friend: I can't do perc health yet.<br>
* Train parry.
me: nobody?<br>
* Learn how to adjust your stances. I have 4 sets. Evasion is set to Evasion 100, Shield 80. Shield is Shield 100, Evasion 80. Custom is Evasion 100, Parry 80. Parry is Parry 100, Evasion 80. Use Custom and Evasion when you first enter a new hunting ground.
me: what is your pp<br>
* Low level hunting sucks. Make sure to Backtrain at some point.
me: and empathy<br>
* Train ALL stats evenly to at least 30-40. Focus on Reflex/Discipline/Agility/Charisma in that order. Reflex will keep you from being hit as often, which is incredibly important as a Thief. Discipline helps you keep more khri up, the length of the timers, it helps you hide, and it's just all around a good stat to train. Agility will help you parry and hit things. Charisma for your confidence pool. A lot of thieves stop at 30 Charisma, but I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS. The more Charisma you have, the larger your pools will be! Do not neglect your Intelligence or Wisdom either, though they are not as important as the other four. Strength and Stamina will help, but again, not as important.

friend: Can you see non-empaths yet w/perc health?<br>

me: at 60 pp<br>
me: and 73 empathy

friend: I still can't perc others consistently though. :(<br>

Few Genie3 scripts I wrote

Crossing Perc Health - Uses the latest map set - Updated 7/14/09 for new mana levels and to cast GS.

HW/HS script - Does not adjust mana based on wound severity (yet), but heals pretty quickly.

Empath Charging script - Wound costs have been adjusted as of 7/18/09 to assess more correctly.

Combat Thief Training Guide

  • At low circles only train a couple of weapons, if you want to train more backtrain later, otherwise RT will screw you over and you won't train anything well. LE or ME + Brawling are good.
  • Thieves should train at least 1 ranged weapon, LX and then LT are good choices.
  • Learn how to use khri. Focus and Hasten will help immensely once you can use them. Always use them while hunting.
  • Train multiple armor sets, if only for the TDPs. TDPs are your friend.
  • At low levels, mixing armor sets will not work out well for hiding/stalking. Use a full leather setup while training hiding, stalking and BS if you can.
  • Backstab training is confusing. Use <attack bodypart> (i.e. draw right leg) from hiding. If you get "masterfully position" messaging consistently, try to move up one bodypart. If you get all "fail to position", move down one bodypart. Start at the right leg and work your way up.
  • Train shield. Train shield. Train shield.
  • Train parry.
  • Learn how to adjust your stances.
