Look:	The almost black surface of the tube has been polished to a high gloss, highlighting the purple tinge characteristic of gloomwood. Fine filigree of silver is inlaid in the surface, flowing between the natural knobs and lumps that form the structure of the wood. Polished silver bands join the sections of the telescope and hold lenses in position.
