The scorpion is small, as siege weapons go, but is a versatile tool in battle. It is a large crossbow-type weapon mounted on a wheeled platform. It is a smaller version of the ballista that is capable of being dragged. It can be pushed or pulled to face the proper direction for shooting. It is designed to be loaded with massive barbed bolts weighing 600 stones after its crank is turned enough to winch the wire-and-sinew cable back into its latched position. The frame is built of sturdy wood, fastened with steel pins. The scorpion's firing cable looks to be in perfect condition. It is facing toward the north.

To operate, TURN the scorpion to draw back the firing cable. PUSH and PULL the scorpion to pivot it to face different directions. AIM and FIRE scorpion AT TARGET/DIRECTION to aim and fire it. Aiming the scorpion at a target will first check its current area, then the nearby area in the direction the scorpion is pointed. Aiming the scorpion AT DIRECTION will aim it two movements away in the direction it is pointed, but not at a specific target in that area.

There are working scorpions positioned in Tigerclan and Aesery.
