An open roll is a special type of random number style of generation. What differentiates it from normal random numbers is that if the max value is reached, a second number is generated, and added to it, and if that one is max value, another is generated, and so on.

Combat

All known instances of true open rolls have been removed from combat.

There are still occasions of extremely severe hits, where the defender rolls incredibly poorly and the attacker rolls extremely well. Due to ignorance or misuse, these are sometimes called open rolls.
