[North Roads Caravansary]<br> |

The road runs northwest past a cluster of stone buildings and stables to one side. A narrow path branches off to the east following a rough line of hills while another section continues southeast. You hear the lowing of sheep and the bleating of goats from nearby and an errant breeze brings the smell of something roasting over a fire. Elsewhere, you might wonder just what was being cooked that smells so strongly, but here and now you find you are both famished and in dire need of drink. You also see a freshly-painted roadsign pointing north. |

Miraena glances at Lupdels. |
|||
Miraena asks, "Are you going to attack us, too?" |

Lupdels says, "I do not attack." |
|||
Miraena frowns at Lupdels. |
|||
Miraena holds her distance. |
|||
Lupdels says, "I watched the battle here, observing the violence, and did not participate. As a Bard, my role is to record and remember history." |
|||
Miraena gives a slight nod. |
|||
Miraena says, "I heard commotion on the streets from my room in Gaethrend's, but I did not dare come out." |

|||
Miraena glances at Kerenelle. |

Kerenelle says to Miraena, "I've heard about you. The farmgirl telling folks to not cast sorcery." |

Lupdels say, "Miraena here has been a consistent advocate for a better Elanthia, and it's most unfortunate more have not listened to her." |
|||
Miraena quietly says, "I wish people would stop calling me a girl. I have hit my eighteenth name day..." |
|||
Lupdels laughs! |
|||
Kerenelle says, "Sorry, farmgirl is just the term I've used. Saying farm-raised young adult takes way too effort." |
|||
Kerenelle chuckles. |
|||
Miraena quietly says to Lupdels, "And they seem to use 'farmer' and 'farmgirl' as an insult, as if we do not spend years with back breaking work to feed everyone." |
|||
Miraena sighs. |
|||
Kerenelle says, "Errr, heard." |
|||
Miraena quietly says, "Adventurers have turned out to be very different than I expected." |

Miraena Visits Outside of Dirge |
Event Date: 09/25/2024 |
Event Instance: Prime |
Date
It has been 450 years, 191 days since the Victory of Lanival the Redeemer.
It is the 5th month of Uthmor the Giant in the year of the Golden Panther.
Log
[North Roads Caravansary]
The road runs northwest past a cluster of stone buildings and stables to one side. A narrow path branches off to the east following a rough line of hills while another section continues southeast. You hear the lowing of sheep and the bleating of goats from nearby and an errant breeze brings the smell of something roasting over a fire. Elsewhere, you might wonder just what was being cooked that smells so strongly, but here and now you find you are both famished and in dire need of drink. You also see a freshly-painted roadsign pointing north.
Miraena gazes towards the narrow track, her eyes turning from the ground to the sky repeatedly.
Lupdels smiles at at Miraena.
Lupdels gets a blue iris from inside his green backpack.
Miraena glances at Lupdels.
Miraena asks, "Are you going to attack us, too?"
Lupdels shows Miraena his blue iris.
Lupdels says, "I do not attack."
Miraena frowns at Lupdels.
Miraena holds her distance.
Lupdels says, "I watched the battle here, observing the violence, and did not participate. As a Bard, my role is to record and remember history."
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Miraena says, "I heard commotion on the streets from my room in Gaethrend's, but I did not dare come out."
Lupdels nods.
Miraena says, "This seemed like the first day it might be safe to come see what happened."
Kerenelle cocks her head.
Lupdels say, "It was very dangerous, many adventurers are eager to risk their lives for their cause."
Miraena glances at Kerenelle.
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "I've heard about you. The farmgirl telling folks to not cast sorcery."
Miraena clasps her hands in front of her, her fingers wringing around themselves tightly.
Lupdels say, "Miraena here has been a consistent advocate for a better Elanthia, and it's most unfortunate more have not listened to her."
Miraena quietly says, "I wish people would stop calling me a girl. I have hit my eighteenth name day..."
Lupdels laughs!
Kerenelle says, "Sorry, farmgirl is just the term I've used. Saying farm-raised young adult takes way too effort."
Kerenelle chuckles.
Miraena quietly says to Lupdels, "And they seem to use 'farmer' and 'farmgirl' as an insult, as if we do not spend years with back breaking work to feed everyone."
Miraena sighs.
Kerenelle says, "Errr, heard."
Miraena quietly says, "Adventurers have turned out to be very different than I expected."
Kerenelle says, "I don't think they disrespect the work you do. At least, no one I know does."
Miraena nods her head, but there is not much confidence behind it.
Miraena says to Kerenelle, "My name is Miraena. It is nice to meet you, and I apologize for my attitude. Things have been very tense the last few weeks."
Kerenelle says, "Hi Miraena, I'm Kerenelle."
Miraena nods to Kerenelle.
Lupdels smiles at Kerenelle.
Kerenelle says, "I have heard about some of that from my mom."
Lupdels says, "Kerenelle, I am Lupdels, a humble Bard recording what has been occuring."
Kerenelle nods to Lupdels.
Kerenelle says, "I'm an empath."
Lupdels smiles.
Miraena says, "And I am a farmer."
Miraena chuckles.
Miraena hitches up the waistband of her workman's pants.
Miraena says, "Or, I was a farmer. I hoping I still have a farm to return to."
Miraena gazes off to the west.
Lupdels asks Miraena, "It's approaching midsummer and after that fall, will you return home for the harvest?"
Kerenelle asks, "It was damaged in the wild magic?"
Miraena says to Lupdels, "I have been struggling with what I should do now."
Kerenelle closes her eyes for a moment and grows still.
Miraena says to Kerenelle, "My village had made disasters as a result of the wild magic caused by adventurers use of sorcerous magic, which is one of the reasons why I came here in the first place."
Miraena says, "My village had many disasters, that is. Excuse my fumbling my words. It has been an emotional time."
Kerenelle smiles at Miraena.
Lupdels nods to Miraena.
Kerenelle says, "I can understand that."
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Kerenelle says, "From what I've heard, things are coming down to a battle between the Heralds and the Immortals."
Miraena nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Miraena quietly says, "I certainly hope that is not the case."
Miraena says, "The Heralds are... so powerful. More powerful than I could ever describe to you."
Lupdels asks Miraena, "I am not a Cleric, but I recognize there are many Immortals. Not all have appeared in battle. When you received your message from the Heralds, did you feel like there was one louder or more forceful than others?"
Miraena shakes her head.
Lupdels nods.
Miraena says, "My vision was more like... an immediate knowing in my head. I did not hear voices speak, no one told me the message directly like I'm talking to you."
Miraena says, "It was like growing up and knowing who your mother and father are. You just know, you don't need to talk to the midwife who delivered you for proof."
Lupdels says, "I wonder if there are Immortals who would be more open to a peaceful path forward."
Miraena quietly asks Lupdels, "If there was... why would they have not come forward yet?"
Kerenelle says, "I think probably everyone does want peace, but they have different ideas about how to achieve it."
Lupdels ponders.
Lupdels says to Miraena, "The Immortals that have engaged seem to be the ones that certain adventurers call on the most for their own personal vendettas."
Kerenelle frowns at Lupdels.
Kerenelle says, "I could not agree with you about Enelne, at least."
Kerenelle says, "This has been the first time I've heard of a Rakash god engaging in any way. But I do know She is not a goddess of war."
Miraena remains quiet, turning her eyes silently between those speaking.
Lupdels says to Kerenelle, "Oh I believe that is true of Enelne most of all. Members of the Pack that are most devoted to her and most eager to risk their life may have drawn her into battle."
Kerenelle says, "Seems reasonable. Personally, I wish it were possible for Heralds, Mortals and Immortals all to sit down like adults and talk all of this out, but I think we all know that won't be happening."
Lupdels nods to Kerenelle.
Lupdels says, "I agree."
Miraena says to Kerenelle, "I have not experienced Adventurers to be willing to negotiate anything that inconveniences them."
Miraena frowns.
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "From what I've heard, there seems to be more going on with the wild magic than just the sorcery being a problem. That's one factor, certainly, but not the only one. It has sounded like the sorcery is more of an exacerbating factor."
Miraena ponders.
Miraena says to Kerenelle, "Would you tell me more? I am not a magic user, so I do not understand how this all works."
Lupdels ponders.
Lupdels nods to Kerenelle.
Kerenelle asks, "Did you hear anything about the theory posed by Valenal?"
Miraena shakes her head at Kerenelle.
Miraena says, "Asildu and I have not been particularly welcome in gatherings lately."
Lupdels nods.
Kerenelle nods.
Lupdels says, "Most unfortunate."
Lupdels asks Kerenelle, "Could you explain Valenal's theory?"
Kerenelle says, "Well, imagine mana - that which fuels magic - as being like juice, and that juice exists in a bowl."
Kerenelle says, "I'm going to try."
Lupdels nods.
Kerenelle grins crookedly.
Miraena says to Kerenelle, "I appreciate you trying."
Miraena curtsies to Kerenelle.
Kerenelle says, "Pure mana casting - when an adventurer casts a spell they learn from their guild - has one flavor, and sorcery - when the types of mana get mixed - has a different flavor."
Lupdels nods.
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Kerenelle says, "The Heralds do not like the sorcery flavor."
Miraena says, "It is like a potato grown in one type of dirt versus in another. They are both a potato, but they can have very different taste and texture."
Miraena nods.
Kerenelle nods to Miraena.
Kerenelle says, "Exactly."
You get an odd feeling that someone is watching you. It quickly passes.
Miraena ponders.
A swirling vortex of shadows draws itself from the ground and coalesces into a triangular black Moongate filled with a stormy darkness, which yawns open like a hungry maw.
Mathematician Avrenka came through a triangular black Moongate filled with a stormy darkness.
Kerenelle says, "When someone casts a pure mana spell, a bit of juice gets taken out of the bowl. Casting sorcery can return a little bit of that. And ordinarily it keeps the mana system as a whole working and in balance."
Avrenka says, "Well hello there."
Lupdels smiles at Avrenka.
A triangular black Moongate filled with a stormy darkness collapses in on itself.
Kerenelle waves to Avrenka.
Avrenka waves.
Miraena blinks.
Kerenelle says, "But there is evidence of a mana thief."
Lupdels exclaims to Avrenka, "Greetings!"
A pool of black shadows dissipates.
Avrenka nods to Lupdels.
Kerenelle says, "Someone who is draining more mana than they should."
Miraena quietly says to Lupdels, "It took me half an hour to walk out here from the Crossing Gate. Fascinating that adventurers just... pop in like that."
Lupdels nods to Miraena.
Avrenka says to Lupdels, "Top o' the morning to ya."
Lupdels says to Miraena, "Not all of us do, I walked too."
Kerenelle says, "And the levels in the bowl drop too low to stay in balance."
Miraena smiles at Lupdels.
Firehawk Casari just arrived.
Avrenka says, "Walking is for plebians."
Lupdels smiles at Casari.
Lupdels chuckles at Avrenka.
Lupdels moves a blue iris to his left hand.
Lupdels leans over and quickly removes his boots from his feet.
Lupdels picks up each of his boots and shakes them completely out.
Several objects fall out of Lupdels's boots and land at his feet.
Lupdels says, "I do a lot of walking, very plebian."
Avrenka coughs.
Lupdels picks up each of his boots and shakes them completely out.
Lupdels leans over and slips his feet into the boots.
Avrenka says, "Present company excepted, of course."
Kerenelle says, "That is why we have wild magic - what is left has like tides and eddies in it."
Casari says, "Oh. Good morning."
Miraena says to Kerenelle, "I think I understand. A little..."
Kerenelle says, "I wish Heralds and Immortals could join together to find the thief."
Lupdels says to Miraena, "There are those that believe there to be a thief of mana. Avrenka here has been working to determine the identity of the thief."
Lupdels gestures at Avrenka.
Miraena asks, "And adventurers don't know who this mana thief is?"
Lupdels nods to Miraena.
Kerenelle says, "Because if we could stop the thief, things should return to normal."
Kerenelle says, "They have been trying to track them, but haven't had success yet."
Casari frowns.
Miraena asks, "And how are we so sure that this is the correct... metaphor... for what is happening?"
Miraena raises an eyebrow.
Lupdels says to Miraena, "We don't, it's one theory and that's being tested. But it seems consistent with other observations."
Kerenelle says, "Well, Valenal is more of an expert than I'll ever be, but he called it an intelligence theory."
Miraena asks, "I'm sorry, I have not met this Valenal. Maybe he is someone noteworthy in this area?"
Miraena blushes a bright red color.
Kerenelle says, "Intelligent."
Miraena nods to Lupdels.
The sun slowly pokes its way through soft blankets of clouds as it sleepily rises to create the new day.
Casari says, "I think it's pretty clear that the Heralds are consuming the energy from pure magic usage. Seems like they need it to survive, and the actions the Immortals have been taking have, perhaps inadvertently, been harming them. Starving them."
Miraena exclaims, "I would think Valenal would be someone of high importance if he knows this to be the answer!"
Lupdels says, "We are trying to figure out what is happening, and this seems possible. There are also visions of the past that I have received, along with our Empath and Ranger friends, that reveal a deep history of another mana thief."
Kerenelle says, "I do not believe he has been here before. And I am unfortunately unfamiliar with his credentials."
Kerenelle says, "It is not black and white like that, Miraena."
Miraena blinks at Casari.
Kerenelle says, "We are all trying to figure things out, and his theory is the closest we have to an explanation."
Miraena asks, "You think the Immortals are starving the Heralds? And that is... what we need to do?"
Miraena observes Kerenelle with fascination.
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Casari says, "No. I think the Immortals and Heralds need to come to equitable terms and stop fighting."
Kerenelle nods at Casari, obviously agreeing with her views.
Miraena nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Kerenelle fervently exclaims, "If only!"
Miraena asks, "So are adventurers trying to empower both the Heralds and Immortals to fight this thief?"
Miraena gazes up at the sky.
Lupdels says to Casari, "They have co-existed for aeons, and yet now there's wild magic? Seems unlikely unless there's more happening."
Casari says, "Unfortunately, it seems like most adventurers are just trying to wipe out the Heralds."
Lupdels says to Miraena, "Many adventurers believe the thief to be the Heralds, but I find that illogical."
Miraena frowns.
Lupdels says to Miraena, "It's like accusing a farmer who has farmed the land for generations that suddenly they don't know what they are doing. I don't believe the Heralds would cause a imbalance."
Casari says, "From Elanthia's vision, I'd say the Heralds needed more energy in order to stop the Immortals from encroaching as severely."
Miraena frowns at Lupdels.
Miraena quietly says, "That would be so rude."
Kerenelle says, "Not intentionally anyway."
Avrenka asks Lupdels, "What if the farmer has had its land encroached by squatters more and more, and finally had to take drastic measures to kick them out?"
Lupdels says to Casari, "That vision was from the deep past, I don't believe it reflects the recent actions that have led to wild magic."
Casari gives Avrenka a slight nod.
Miraena turns her eyes between everyone as they speak, listening intently.
Avrenka says, "Something i think any farmer would understand."
Lupdels asks Avrenka, "That theory would propose the Immortals have been doing more and more recently to encroach, which raises the question as to what has changed?"
Avrenka says to Lupdels, "Increasing sorcery casting, leaving less room in the cup for pure magic casting."
Avrenka says, "One of the visions from Primal Elanthia said as much."
Avrenka says, "It came to head when the Heralds suddenly acted to restrict the Immortals in some unknown way."
Kerenelle asks, "But if the mana thief is taking the pure mana, wouldn't that be having a bigger impact on the level of pure mana in the cup?"
Casari says, "I got the impression that Elanthia believed the Immortals were unaware that what they were doing was such a great detriment to the Heralds. I hope that's true. If so, then... the situation may be salvageable."
Lupdels says to Avrenka, "Yes, the Herlds acted, long, long ago."
Miraena nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Avrenka says to Lupdels, "Are you sure about that? I was under the impression the Heralds welcomed the Immortals at first, according to the earlier visions."
Avrenka says to Miraena, "So you see, there is much debate and discussion going on about what's really happening."
Miraena chuckles at Avrenka.
Kerenelle asks Avrenka, "I thought the Immortals got in because of that hungry gardener?"
Lupdels says to Avrenka, "The visions from Elanthia's past show that over time the Guardians, the Heralds, had to impose boundaries and rules around the Immortals. And yet they carried on."
Lupdels nods to Kerenelle.
Miraena says to Avrenka, "It makes me feel a little better that I'm not the only one so confused by things."
Avrenka says, "I do not wish to detract from what you were all discussing with Miraena."
Lupdels smiles.
Lupdels asks Miraena, "How would a farmer try to catch a theif?"
Miraena says, "We would buy some wolf hounds to gaurd the grounds. Or, set a trap where anyone hopping the fence would trigger bells on a string, so we could catch them."
Lupdels ponders.
Miraena says, "Then we would toss sticks and stones at them, and threaten them with worse if they come back."
Miraena blushes a bright red color.
Miraena says, "We're not the best fighters."
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "Not everyone is meant to be a fighter."
Miraena nods to Kerenelle.
Miraena hitches up the waistband of her workman's pants.
Lupdels nods.
Casari says to Miraena, "Speaking of fighting. Be careful, Miraena. If no one has already told you... several powerful people have inexplicably decided that you should die, and their sycophants will probably try to carry that out."
Miraena frowns.
Miraena quietly says, "Yes, after that brutal attack on Asildu, I have prepared myself that my death may be coming."
Lupdels frowns.
Miraena says, "I am... not sure what will happen to me. I do not know how the Immortals feel about me now."
Avrenka asks, "Whatever happened to "don't kill the messenger?"
Miraena nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Lupdels nods to Avrenka.
Kerenelle says, "I think the spiring of the Clans and Dirge upset a lot of people. Asildu played a direct role in causing that to happen."
Miraena gazes at Kerenelle.
Lupdels says, "People believe what they want to believe."
Miraena firmly says, "He did not."
Avrenka asks Kerenelle, "Did he?"
Lupdels nods to Miraena.
Kerenelle says, "Well, in that he called for it to happen."
Miraena says, "But adventurers choose to see and hear what they want to."
Kerenelle says, "He did not do it himself."
Lupdels nods to Kerenelle.
Avrenka says, "I have the feelign the Heralds were gonna encase the second Clan no matter what Asildu did or said."
Miraena says, "I wish people would understand the overwhelming journey that Asildu and I are on."
Avrenka says, "Excuse me one moment."
Miraena frowns.
Lupdels says, "Many adventurers are biased in believing that Asildu's relationship with the Heralds is like a Cleric and their Immortal Patron, that he can cause the Heralds to take actions he wants. They don't understand."
Mathematician Avrenka goes north.
Miraena nods to Lupdels.
Casari says, "It's... not exactly what he asked for. And even what he asked seemed driven by an overwhelming, godly rage, that he could not possibly have controlled. That's what I saw, anyway."
Miraena sighs.
Casari says, "Seems like he's a victim of his connection."
Mathematician Avrenka just arrived.
Miraena quietly says, "His anger has been growing, and I understand why."
Miraena asks, "If I might... make some guesses?"
Miraena nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Kerenelle says, "I think the journey you are on is hard, but frankly, I think the Heralds screwed you both over. They should have sent someone with direct decision-making capacity rather than relying on messengers. I know the Heralds might not be able to make that happen. It's part of why this whole thing is such a mess."
Lupdels smiles at Miraena.
Lupdels says to Miraena, "I will listen."
Miraena smiles at Lupdels.
Miraena says, "I have not known Asildu for very long, but we have a certain bond that one can only understand if you find someone else has been given the same burden you have been given."
Miraena says, "It was... such a relief... to meet him here in Crossing. I am so grateful."
Kerenelle says, "It is always nice to find a kindred spirit."
Miraena nods at Kerenelle, obviously agreeing with her views.
Miraena says, "I think I understand him much more than other people do. We have spent many evenings talking about what we could do to get people to listen to us."
Avrenka says, "Traveling alone far distances is dangerous in of itself ... always good to find a fellow traveler."
Miraena exclaims, "I always thought the path forward was just to talk to adventurers. Surely they would listen!"
Kerenelle says, "Unfortunately, it's not that simple."
Avrenka says, "Your path would've been simple if there weren't 4 contradicting voices to your own."
Miraena says, "And most of my first interactions here at Crossing were very pleasant. I met people like Lupdels, Jundada, and Casari."
Miraena smiles at Casari.
Lupdels smiles.
Casari nods to Miraena.
Miraena says, "Jundada, excuse me."
Miraena blushes a bright red color.
Miraena babbles incoherently.
Miraena exclaims, "Jundara!"
Lupdels says, "Jundara."
Lupdels smiles.
Kerenelle chuckles.
Miraena quietly says, "It can be a very difficult name."
Miraena laughs!
Miraena says, "Although I had setbacks, I at least felt that people were hearing me out."
Miraena says, "Asildu had... a much different first set of interactions than I did, which I think shaped how he thought we could be most effective."
Kerenelle says, "From what my mom said, part of the problem is people experienced magic feeling more stable after a big gathering of casting sorcery."
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Kerenelle says, "And that has been very persuasive."
Miraena says, "Yes, but even before that. Adventurers seemed to bristle when he said he had been studying what little information there was about the Heralds."
Avrenka nods.
Kerenelle says, "I am not sure why they would bristle."
Avrenka says, "No wonder ... Saragos was convinced from the very beginning it was Heralds that banished his wife."
Lupdels nods to Avrenka.
Casari says, "He wasn't very socially competent."
Casari says, "He got better."
Lupdels says to Avrenka, "At one point I had raised with him the idea of a jail break and an escaped prisoner. He moved past that idea quickly, unfortunately."
Avrenka says, "He was also evasive of answering all of my questions."
Avrenka shrugs.
Miraena says, "I will admit that both of us grew frustrated the longer were here, but his frustration has... escalated beyond what I think is ASILDU."
Miraena frowns.
Casari nods at Miraena, obviously agreeing with her views.
Avrenka slowly asks Miraena, "What do you mean?"
Casari says, "The best thing for him would be... well, probably severing his connection."
Kerenelle asks Miraena, "What do you mean, beyond what is Asildu?"
Miraena quietly asks, "Remember I said that we used to speak every night?"
Kerenelle tilts her head, clearly curious about something.
Kerenelle nods.
Miraena says, "He has refused to see me since that horrible event at Knife Clan."
Lupdels frowns at Miraena.
Miraena says, "The Asildu I knew would not have done that."
Kerenelle asks, "Could he be...changing somehow?"
Lupdels says to Miraena, "I'm sorry for your loneliness without him."
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Miraena quietly says to Lupdels, "Thank you. It's hard to feel alone in this mission again."
Avrenka asks Miraena, "He has changed?"
Miraena says, "I think his frustrations and anger, which I think he is entitled to, for what that's worth, are being amplified by his connection with the Heralds."
Casari nods.
Miraena nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Kerenelle says, "Hrmmmm."
Miraena asks, "Were any of you there for his fight with Unaka?"
Kerenelle says, "I was not, although my mom was."
Lupdels asks Miraena, "As his frustrations and angers have increased with his connection with the Heralds, do you feel yourself changing too?"
Miraena shakes her head at Lupdels.
Miraena says, "No, I have not felt such a change."
Lupdels nods to Miraena.
Miraena says, "But I have also not been... pushed... so much as Asildu has."
Miraena says, "I have been hurt, and angry, sure... but adventurers have not dug at me like they have him."
Lupdels nods.
Avrenka asks Miraena, "What can we do to help the situation?"
Miraena says, "I feel like I have to stress that Asildu is NOT a fighter. He did not know how to fight Unaka, when that fight began."
Miraena says, "But I saw changes in him, as he was pushed."
Casari says, "Unaka is a maniac. Or a saboteur."
Miraena frowns at Casari.
Casari says, "From what I heard she interrupted the attempt to work with the Heralds to release a clan before it could happen."
Miraena quietly says, "I think she is a bully for forcing that fight on Asildu."
Kerenelle shakes her head at Casari.
Avrenka says, "She was quite contrite for a maniac."
Kerenelle says to Casari, "She just got a bit overeager to act."
Lupdels glances at Casari.
Lupdels says to Casari, "I was not aware of that."
Avrenka says, "She was pushed via her connection to the Immortals as well."
Casari says, "An overeager imbecile is still an imbecile. If I'd been there, I'd have stopped her or died trying."
Miraena says, "Asildu winning that fight should not have happened, unless Asildu is changing because of his connection to the Heralds."
Miraena frowns.
Kerenelle says, "Hrmmm."
Miraena says, "But as I said, he won't talk with me, so I can't confirm anything."
Kerenelle says, "This is very interesting."
Lupdels asks Miraena, "Do you think the Heralds know about your plight? The division you have with Asildu?"
Miraena says to Lupdels, "I think the Heralds can see everything happening, yes."
Miraena gazes up at the sky.
Kerenelle shudders.
Miraena says, "I think maybe they just haven't had any cause to... change?... me."
Miraena nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Avrenka says, "Or perhaps they are able to act more easily thru a conduit that identifies with their emotions."
Lupdels ponders.
Miraena sadly says, "Maybe."
Kerenelle says, "I would not like to see you be changed."
Avrenka says, "We've seen the same as such with other ... conduits of extraplanar entities."
Lupdels asks Miraena, "If we do see Asildu, is there a message you would like us to convey?"
Miraena looks at Kerenelle and blushes.
Miraena says to Kerenelle, "I do very much like being me."
Kerenelle smiles at Miraena.
Miraena beams at Lupdels!
Miraena says to Lupdels, "Would you tell him to at least speak with me? We can figure it out together, whatever it is."
Miraena nods to Lupdels.
Lupdels smiles at Miraena.
Lupdels says, "I shall do my best."
Miraena says to Lupdels, "You have been so kind since my arrival, thank you so much."
Lupdels says to Miraena, "I am not one eager to see violence or a reason to die."
Miraena gets a blue iris from inside her craftsman's satchel.
Miraena nods to Lupdels.
Miraena says to Lupdels, "There is enough of that as it is."
Miraena says, "We are here to try to stop people from dying."
Miraena sighs.
Lupdels nods.
Casari gets a blue iris from inside her black longcoat.
Miraena beams at Casari!
Casari nods to Miraena.
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "That message would be more powerful if it came directly from the Heralds."
Miraena asks, "I was going to leave one of my irises here, if you all do not think it would be rude?"
Lupdels ponders.
Miraena says, "Despite what many people think, I am very grateful to see Dirge was able to be returned."
Lupdels says to Miraena, "I think I still view it as a symbol of peace, and I hope others believe the same."
Casari says, "It is a symbol of caring."
Casari puts her iris in her black longcoat.
Miraena nods in agreement.
(Avrenka says nothing, folding his arms and thinking in silence.)
Miraena moves to the side of the road and lowers to her knees. Reverently, she places a single blue iris on the dirt, laying it so that the petals are not folded over. Her eyes close and she is silent for a moment, before standing again.
Lupdels says, "I am very much pleased to see Dirge returned, and very much confused as to what actually happened with the spire."
Miraena drops a blue iris.
Miraena says, "I am also hoping to visit Knife Clan or Tiger Clan this evening, to do the same."
Kerenelle says to Lupdels, "I think the part I didn't understand was the golden light helping out."
Reverend Gragnel just arrived.
Casari says, "I am eager to discover the spires' purpose."
Lupdels gazes about, drinking in his surroundings.
Miraena glances at Gragnel.
Miraena stands near Lupdels.
Casari says to Miraena, "If you do, again... be careful. If I can, I'll try to protect you. Hopefully, you won't need it."
Lupdels nods to Casari.
Miraena beams at Casari!
Gragnel asks Miraena, "Yes? Can I help you?"
Miraena says to Casari, "Thank you, that would be very kind of you."
Avrenka says to Miraena, "I will also speak out against any violence against you."
Gragnel raises an eyebrow in Miraena's direction.
Miraena asks Gragnel, "I'm sorry, have we met?"
Miraena blushes a bright red color.
Avrenka says, "Everyone has a right to be heard ... though no one has a right to be believed."
Gragnel says to Miraena, "I don't beleive so, or at least, I don't remember it."
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Lupdels smiles at Avrenka.
Lupdels says to Avrenka, "I am also hopeful we could continue your research into identifying the mana thief."
Gragnel asks Miraena, "I am Reverend Gragnel Durbin, a preacher in the service of Lord Damaris. And, you are?"
Miraena says to Gragnel, "I am Farmer Miraena."
Miraena gives a small curtsy, but continues to hang a distance back.
Gragnel asks Miraena, "The same Miraena that I've been hearing people talk about lately?"
Miraena glances at Casari.
Kerenelle nods to Gragnel.
Miraena gets an oak peasant's walking stick from inside her craftsman's satchel.
Avrenka says to Lupdels, "I'm glad for your optimism. I nearly tore down all my notes in brief despair."
Miraena says to Gragnel, "If there is another Miraena, I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting her."
Lupdels says to Avrenka, "I think that makes me all the more optimistic. Frustration is a sign of your passion."
Avrenka says to Lupdels, "But I await further information. It seems you have some great ideas."
Lupdels smiles.
Gragnel says to Miraena, "To be truthful, the name is new to me so I doubt there is any confusion. Based upon the random collection of people standing here, I would guess that it is so."
Miraena nods.
Lupdels smiles at Gragnel.
Lupdels says, "Greetings Gragnel, I am Lupdels. I don't know if we have met."
The tension in Miraena's body seems to relax, and she stands more at ease again.
Gragnel says to Lupdels, "A pleasure to meet you, Lupdels."
Avrenka says to Gragnel, "Avrenka."
Avrenka nods to Gragnel.
A light rain begins to patter down from above.
Miraena asks Gragnel, "Were you here with the encasing around Dirge was removed?"
Casari glances up at the sky.
Gragnel says to Miraena, "Indeed. I was. Using my skills at benedictions and sermons to rally the forces."
Avrenka says, "I was as well."
Gragnel says to Miraena, "At least until the drakes got me, that is."
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Avrenka says to Gragnel, "I think I recall dragging your fallen body to triage, actually."
You get an odd feeling that someone is watching you. It quickly passes.
Gragnel nods to Avrenka.
Gragnel says, "Thankfully I have gained much favor with Lord Damaris, and he has protected me from the starry road many times."
Avrenka gives a slight nod.
Novus Nevali just arrived, leading her group.
Nevali angles her ears forward in curiosity.
Nevali waves to Miraena.
Lupdels beams at Nevali!
Jundara curtsies to Miraena.
Miraena beams at Jundara!
Nevali nervously asks Miraena, "Hello... did you get my letter?"
Avrenka asks Miraena, "You wish to know more about how Dirge was liberated?"
Miraena smiles at Nevali.
Jundara says, "Hiya Miraena."
Miraena rummages through a craftsman's satchel searching with intent, but it quickly becomes apparent she's not got a clue where to look.
Miraena gets a colorfully illuminated parchment from inside her craftsman's satchel.
Miraena waves a colorfully illuminated parchment around.
Miraena nods to Nevali.
Miraena says to Nevali, "I did."
Nevali shifts uncomfortably for a moment.
Miraena puts her parchment in her craftsman's satchel.
Gragnel asks Miraena, "Did you come to see how Dirge fares after the falling of the encasement?"
Jundara smiles at Nevali.
Nevali says to Miraena, "You left so fast after... the last time..."
Jundara rubs Nevali gently, massaging her muscles.
Miraena nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Miraena says, "One question at a time."
Miraena blushes a bright red color.
Gragnel gives a slight nod.
Ears tilted forward, Nevali curls her tail around Jundara's waist loosely.
Miraena says, "I would like to know more about what happened here to remove the encasing. I heard commotion when it was happening, but I did not think it safe for me to come see."
Nevali nods at Miraena, obviously agreeing with her views.
Gragnel says, "It would have likely been very dangerous, yes. There were many drakes flying around."
Miraena says to Nevali, "I was very concerned for my safety, I didn't think it was smart for me to stay."
Avrenka says, "If I may..."
Jundara leans on Nevali.
Jundara trills, her ears relaxing minutely back against her head.
Avrenka says to Miraena, "A group of us adventurers were gathered in Shard, listening to an enthralling sermon by Briaen."
Miraena ponders.
Avrenka says, "Just .. absolutely thrilling sermon by the way."
Casari says, "Several groups of people set about casting sorcery at each of the spires, and a couple of anlaen later, the Immortals acted. Five of them struck at the encasement's weak point, and numerous people began to attack the vines and stone there. Hundreds of drakes attacked them, but an army came to fight against them, and in the end, the encasement fell."
Avrenka clears his throat.
Miraena says to Avrenka, "It's okay, it can be hard to speak with so many people. I understand."
Miraena grins at Avrenka.
Avrenka says, "When five of us suddenly received a vision from one of the Immortals, each specifically tailored to the five of us."
Miraena says, "I am being given the details of the events as we speak. Think? As we think."
Miraena babbles incoherently.
Miraena says, "How do you all juggle this so well."
Avrenka says, "I was one of those five ... I'm not sure why, but Rutilor met me."
Miraena gazes at a kyanite gwethdesuan.
Miraena adjusts her kyanite gwethdesuan.
Jundara smiles at Miraena.
Casari moves over to guard Miraena.
Miraena pushes her lips together tightly and squints.
Avrenka says, "He revealed to me a weakness in the vines around the encasement, and urged me to hurry."
Gragnel says to Miraena, "I don't. I choose to refrain from using the thought speak. It just distracts me."
Miraena relaxes her face again.
Miraena slowly empties her lungs.
Miraena grins at Gragnel.
Avrenka says, "The other four told the same vision, but from different Immortals, and we all hastily departed for Dirge."
Miraena says to Gragnel, "I was grateful for this device at first, but it is very noisy sometimes."
Jundara nods to Miraena.
Jundara giggles.
Avrenka says, "We quickly found a weak point in the encasement like the Immortals had told us, and began chopping away at the vines."
Jundara nods at Miraena, obviously agreeing with her views.
Kerenelle laughingly says, "And sometimes the conversation is pure drivel."
Gragnel nods at Kerenelle, obviously agreeing with her views.
Miraena observes Avrenka with fascination.
Miraena grins at Kerenelle.
Elemental Enforcer Voidfang just arrived.
Voidfang bows to Jundara.
Kerenelle grins.
Voidfang bows to Nevali.
Nevali waves to Voidfang.
Jundara waves to Voidfang.
Voidfang blinks.
Voidfang fans himself.
Voidfang waves.
Avrenka says, "Drakes came to defend the encasement, and there was a pitched battle ... eventually the drakes were defeated, the vines were cleared, and suddenly the five Immortals that had appeared to us in a vision appeared again."
Avrenka says, "There was a huge golden explosion and the encasement was blown away."
Miraena gazes into the distance, in the direction of Dirge.
Voidfang peers quizzically at Jundara.
Miraena asks Avrenka, "Were the people inside okay?"
Avrenka says, "We quickly ventured forth the city, and found to our shock that Dirge was ... completely normal and unchanged."
Lupdels nods to Avrenka.
Avrenka says, "As if nothing had even happened."
Casari says, "The cabalists in the ruins were a little unhappy about being trapped in there."
Sister Seef just arrived.
Avrenka nods to Casari.
Jundara peers quizzically at Voidfang.
Gragnel nods to Casari.
Miraena perks up, her eyebrows arching against her brow and her head tilted inquisitively.
Kerenelle says, "It would have been nice if it could have been known from the beginning that the people in the spiried areas were okay. It would have saved a lot of ill feeling."
Miraena asks, "Perhaps it was just a symbollic effect from the Heralds?"
Voidfang nods to Jundara.
Avrenka says, "Of course the inhabitants had taken note, particularly some cabalists who were quick to blame us adventurers and attacked us."
Miraena chuckles at Avrenka.
Avrenka asks Miraena, "What was a symbolic effect?"
Miraena asks Avrenka, "The encasing. Perhaps the Heralds were making a point?"
Voidfang asks Miraena, "I'm told you're some sorta... speaker for the/a heralds? What gives?"
Gragnel says to Kerenelle, "Just because this town was unchanged, doesn't mean that the others will be the same. I mean, I hope they will, but there is no assurance."
Casari says, "The Heralds, presumably, called out when the spire fell, saying that those who destroyed it did not know what they were destroying."
Miraena glances at Voidfang.
Voidfang looks at Miraena and shrugs.
Avrenka says, "Indeed ... the function of the spire remains a great mystery."
Voidfang looks at Miraena and blushes.
Voidfang looks like he could kick himself.
Avrenka says, "We had assumed it to be a thing of destruction and evil."
Miraena says to Voidfang, "They gave me a vision and told me what was necessary to do to end the Wild Magic effects, yes."
Avrenka says, "But it seemed ... it had done no actual harm."
Voidfang nods to Miraena.
Kerenelle asks, "Although didn't the Elanthia visions have similar looking spires in them, in places where there were settlements?"
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Nevali says, "I'm still pretty sure the encasements are to protect the Clans so whatever happens in the future, something survives..."
Voidfang asks Miraena, "I'm told we're supposed to talk to you. Or ask questions. May I uh. Do you want a hug?"
Avrenka says, "That being said ... there has been a golden light interfering with each encasement, so it's possible the encasements actions were hindered by this golden light."
Miraena glances at Voidfang.
Miraena says, "Uh, no thank you."
Miraena moves further to the side of the road.
Voidfang nods to Miraena.
Avrenka says, "Which I believe to be from the Immortals, given the golden light's propensity to aid us in the battle against the drakes."
Kerenelle asks Avrenka, "But has it been seen interfering anywhere except in Dirge?"
Gragnel gives Avrenka a slight nod.
Avrenka says to Kerenelle, "There is a golden light on top of each encasement."
Gragnel says, "Golden light has been seen at each..."
Gragnel points at Avrenka.
Jundara peers quizzically at Voidfang.
Voidfang looks at Jundara and shrugs.
Kerenelle asks, "I know that, but has the light been seen *doing anything* anywhere except in Dirge?"
Miraena raises an eyebrow.
Knight of Meraud Tirost just arrived.
Gragnel gives Tirost a slight nod.
Tirost nods to Gragnel.
Avrenka says, "During Madigan's assault on the Knife Clan ... the golden light did seem to waver and burst to life alternatively."
Nevali says, "It's been theorized the golden light is a kind of bubble that is keeping the vines from interacting with the Clans... keeping the vines and rocks from fully closing over... thus it escapes at the top..."
Kerenelle nods to Avrenka.
Kerenelle says to Avrenka, "Thank you."
Miraena nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Lupdels ponders.
Gragnel says to Nevali, "I see how one might arrive at that conclusion, let us hope so. I do miss my friends and family in Wolf Clan."
Gragnel gazes off into the distance.
Tirost nods in agreement.
Nevali says, "It was Nawain's theory."
Avrenka says, "I just want to say ... I'm not a religious person. I don't clean altars, I don't sacrifice, and I certainly can't sing."
Nevali says, "At least... I first heard it from her. It could be someone else's."
Lupdels says to Avrenka, "I can help you with the singing."
Gragnel says to Avrenka, "I can teach you some of that if you'd like."
Gragnel smirks at Avrenka.
Avrenka says, "I've always seen my relationship to the Immortals to be a give and take, purely transactional."
Gragnel gets a cup of holy water from inside his simple cassock.
Avrenka chuckles.
Gragnel cleans his panther pin with a cup of holy water, restoring the anloral's azure purity.
Miraena asks Avrenka, "You said that your preferred Immortal came to you in a vision? And to some other people?"
Avrenka says, "But when Rutilor met me..."
Gragnel puts his water in his simple cassock.
Avrenka says, "I was shaken."
Avrenka nods to Miraena.
Kerenelle cocks her head.
Avrenka says, "Preferred is even too far for me ... I simply offered to him some of my experiences in exchange for his favor to extend my life to research more."
Avrenka says, "A distant concept."
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Avrenka says to Miraena, "But yes, 5 of us each met our preferred god."
Voidfang clears his throat.
Miraena hesitantly asks, "The one thing I can't understand, is why now? Why did they wait this long to reach out to anyone and provide guidance? And then, only guidance how to remove an encasement that ultimately did not seem to be doing anything?"
Avrenka says to Miraena, "Good questions."
Casari says, "They are nearly as bad at communicating as the Heralds, unfortunately."
Lupdels says, "I find all entitites to be pretty ineffable at this point."
Miraena frowns.
Avrenka says to Miraena, "As far as I can tell, they seem to be quite at odds with each other."
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Gragnel says, "They did not wait, they have been here the whole time. Not all Immortals are so bold with their displays, many are far more subtle."
Gragnel says, "The Immortals are always with us."
Gragnel folds his arms across his chest.
Miraena asks Gragnel, "I did not hear their voices when I first came to Crossing. Were they providing guidance then?"
Voidfang asks, "How do we get them people back? IS anything more important than family? I don't belong to any of 'em, but like... are people still lost in the nowheres? What do we do?"
Seef says, "They've been providing guidance nearly every step of the way - encouraging us to cast sorcerous spells."
Avrenka says, "Indeed Meraud and Truffenyi have been actively aiding us from the start of when things went south."
Seef nods at Avrenka, obviously agreeing with his views.
Tirost asks Miraena, "What is the purpose of the encasements?"
Gragnel says to Miraena, "That is what faith is, the belief of something without requiring some show of proof."
Avrenka says to Voidfang, "They are. And no one knows."
Miraena says, "In my moment of deepest despair, when my village was being ravaged by wild magic effects, the Heralds came to me with a very clear message. To cease sorcery."
Miraena says, "I cannot understand why the Immortals would not do the same."
Nevali twitches an ear at Miraena nervously.
Voidfang nods to Avrenka.
Jundara ponders.
Voidfang ponders.
Jundara frets.
Avrenka says to Miraena, "How troubling that the Immortals came to us with a clear vision to increase sorcery."
Tirost asks Miraena, "You can't? After all this time? Is it possible that the Heralds caused the distruction of your village and blamed it on sorcery?"
Miraena says to Tirost, "I don't know what the purpose of the encasements is. It's why I came out here today, to see what had changed with Dirge."
Lupdels asks Miraena, "Do you think you could tell if something has changed with Dirge that we may have overlooked?"
Nevali asks, "Think only the people living there would know...?"
Gragnel turns the clerical collar about his neck for a moment.
Gragnel gestures.
Miraena says, "I have never been to Dirge, so I don't think I'd be able to identify small changes... but I do see that it's still standing."
Miraena says, "It gives me hope that the other encasings are the same, temporary."
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "Casting sorcery makes the plane of abiding - this plane we live on - more porous. And that greater porosity helps the Immortals to be able to access our plane. They don't dwell on this plane - they live on the Spiritual Plane. So that's a big reason they are pro-sorcery."
Lupdels nods to Miraena.
Lupdels nods to Kerenelle.
Gragnel says to Miraena, "The bank is a handy location to use, though I most often come here to speak to the shaman who roams. He sells supplies for carving beads."
Miraena ponders.
Avrenka says to Tirost, "Friend, let us speak more gently with Miraena. She is of open mind right now."
Miraena asks Kerenelle, "So Immortals only came to this Plane once adventurers began casting sorcery?"
Tirost nods to Avrenka.
Kerenelle shakes her head at Miraena.
Lupdels nods to Kerenelle.
Miraena quietly says, "It is all so very confusing. It's not like they write this stuff down and bring scrolls out to our villages."
Miraena blushes a bright red color.
Jundara smiles at Miraena.
Kerenelle says, "There was an early creation of the Heralds - called a gardener. They started casting sorcery and it is because of them the Immortals got through to our plane."
Casari says, "Much of what we think we know now was only recently revealed by visions from what we believe to be Elanthia itself."
Miraena just blew Casari a kiss.
Kerenelle says, "The Heralds did punish them."
Miraena babbles incoherently.
Gragnel says, "Would that help? I could definately collect up a few books to bring to more rural locations. Missionary work is part of the job, afterall."
Lupdels beams at Gragnel!
Miraena slowly empties her lungs.
Nevali says to Miraena, "Honestly, I think all these folks learned all this just in the last few months themselves."
Miraena exclaims to Casari, "That is good to know that I am not just the only one out of the loop!"
Kerenelle nods to Nevali.
Casari nods.
Jundara nods at Nevali, obviously agreeing with her views.
Nevali says, "And it's all visions and vague inferrations..."
Nevali says, "Notoriously difficult to translate to pure facts."
Gragnel nods to Nevali.
Kerenelle nods to Nevali.
Miraena says to Kerenelle, "I see. So Immortals slipped into our Plane through these holes, and decided to set up shop."
Lupdels nods to Miraena.
Kerenelle says, "As I understand it, yes."
Nevali says, "And some things still don't add up... I grew up with the notion that the Immortals frowned on sorcery..."
Miraena says to Gragnel, "More knowledge to the outlying village would always be welcomed. But we rarely see travelers out that far."
Lupdels says, "The Immortals may be ineffable on their views of sorcery."
Avrenka says to Nevali, "Society frowned on sorcery."
Lupdels nods to Avrenka.
Avrenka says, "Immortals only frowned upon necromancy."
Nevali exclaims to Avrenka, "There was a whole thing with the spider god!"
Casari says, "The Immortals rarely seem aligned on much of anything."
Nevali says, "I was but a kit at the time... but I heard stories..."
Avrenka says, "Indeed, Harawep ... that may have been referring to either necromancy or teleologic sorcery."
Gragnel asks Miraena, "Well, perhaps the postal service could help with distrubiting knowledge. Do the mail folks ever make it out there?"
Lupdels says, "The Immortals slipped into our Plane, and at first there may have been difficulties with the Heralds, the Guardians. But there has been peaceful coexistence for many, many centuries, aeons, since the deep past."
Miraena gazes at Gragnel.
Miraena asks Gragnel, "You think we have post offices?"
Gragnel says to Miraena, "That answers my question."
Lupdels says, "This recent conflict concerns me."
Miraena chuckles.
Tirost nods to Lupdels.
Avrenka says, "Peaceful ... or tolerated."
Jundara says, "Aside from which person on another plan likes or dislikes sorcery... it physcially hurts to cast..."
Miraena says, "I just want these Wild Magic effects to stop. That is all I am after."
Jundara asks, "Shouldn't that tell us something?"
Nevali nods to Jundara.
Avrenka asks Miraena, "What if the evidence pointed to Wild Magic effects being abated with sorcery and the actions of the Immortals?"
Nevali says to Jundara, "The toll it takes on the mind and body is why Vaerek is still against sorcery..."
Miraena quietly says, "Right now I'm happy to not be a magic caster at all."
Miraena chuckles.
Gragnel asks Miraena, "Well, then, hows this for a soultion: I find a copy of "The Immortals" for you and you take it back home whenever you return?"
Miraena says, "It sounds like a lot of trouble."
Avrenka asks Miraena, "Could you turn your back on the visino you received from the Heralds?"
Miraena smiles at Gragnel.
Miraena says to Gragnel, "I would appreciate that."
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "Most of us want that as well - for magic to go back to normal."
Miraena curtsies to Gragnel.
Tirost sincerely says to Miraena, "There are many who care about you and your village, Miraena. We're going to do all we can to stop wild magic."
Nevali says to Miraena, "I have two questions..."
Miraena says to Avrenka, "That's just so hard for me to accept. Just like you believe because your Immortal came to your... the Heralds came to me. It's hard to point to that and say it's a lie."
Gragnel says to Miraena, "I'll take the day to search out who has an extra copy, perhaps if we see each other in the future I will have it to give."
Miraena quietly says, "Not to mention, it would mean the Immortals were happy to let me spread information that was a lie."
Miraena frowns.
The rain stops, leaving only an overcast sky.
Nevali trills softly at Miraena.
Tirost softly says to Miraena, "I think that is hard to lay at the feet of the Immortals. There have been many signs, and we can discuss them with you, if you like."
Miraena says to Tirost, "I appreciate the words, but actions have spoken louder. It has not felt like that."
Miraena says to Nevali, "I will try to answer whatever I can."
Nevali beams at Miraena!
Miraena hitches up the waistband of her workman's pants.
Miraena glances up at the sky.
Nevali asks Miraena, "When... during the Pure Mana casting attempt, when... you know... Did you hear the Heralds? There was a voice we all heard, and felt their emotions... they said that the wild magic was here to stay? To become part of the land? Or did they mean something else--is that something you're even capable of knowing?"
Nevali nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Nevali twitches an ear nervously.
Voidfang peers quizzically at Nevali.
Nevali says to Miraena, "And when Dirge was freed... did you feel fear? The voices again called out... "You don't know what it is you destroy" and there was this big woosh of terror... it woke me up, even, and I was sound asleep through all the fighting until then..."
Nevali tilts her head, clearly curious about something.
Voidfang ponders.
Voidfang shrugs.
Jundara angles her ears forward, gazing curiously at Miraena.
Jundara rubs Nevali gently, massaging her muscles.
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "Some people who have made sacrifices for the sake of displaced villagers have done so anonymously, because they believe good deeds are better done that way. Because they didn't want credit, they just wanted to help. Maybe that makes it harder for you to see the actions being done, I do not know."
Lupdels smiles at Kerenelle.
Nevali says to Voidfang, "I ask the big questions."
Nevali grins.
Lupdels smiles at Nevali.
Miraena looks at Nevali and blushes.
Voidfang smirks at Nevali.
Nevali trills softly at Miraena.
Miraena says, "I am formulating my response, I appreciate you being patient with me."
Miraena exclaims, "There have been so many events, and it is hard to keep track of when and where I have heard everything!"
Gragnel gives a slight nod.
Voidfang says to Nevali, "Any chance I could get a hug at some point? Gonna be hard for me to believe I exist after some time without a hug."
Kerenelle nods at Miraena, obviously agreeing with her views.
Tirost smiles.
Nevali nods emphatically.
Tirost nods in agreement.
Nevali looks at Voidfang and sighs.
Nevali hugs Voidfang, getting a smile in return.
Voidfang hugs Nevali, who wraps her arms around Voidfang with a warm smile.
Voidfang beams at Nevali!
Nevali says to Voidfang, "Going to invent you a hug machine..."
Miraena says to Nevali, "At the mass pure mana casting event, yes, if I remember correctly I heard them encourage adventurers for finally listening."
Voidfang nods to Nevali.
Nevali nods to Miraena.
Voidfang asks, "Maybe some sorta box?"
Voidfang grins at Nevali.
Miraena says, "Beyond that it is a bit of a blur, I was very upset about Unaka's actions."
Avrenka asks, "Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we receive a vision from an Immortal that Miraena was as of yet still under their favor?"
Nevali says to Voidfang, "With a crank and some springs to squeeze you every anlas."
Miraena says, "And then the further actions of Adventurers, after the dual was finished."
Voidfang says to Nevali, "I can't wait."
Nevali asks Miraena, "I was wondering if it was something that only guilded people were capable of feeling and hearing, and if it washed over normal people... but then, you're hardly normal anymore, are you?"
Nevali says, "As much as you may wish you were."
Miraena looks at Nevali and blushes.
Voidfang says to Nevali, "Rude..."
Miraena says, "I do also recall seeing a figure in black with a menacing wolf. I shut my eyes tightly at that."
Voidfang hugs Nevali, who wraps her arms around Voidfang with a warm smile.
Miraena blushes a bright red color.
Nevali sticks her tongue out at Voidfang.
Voidfang sticks out his tongue at Nevali and lets loose with a loud, "Thbtbtbt" from his lips!
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "That was just Meraud."
Jundara quietly says, "Just Meraud..."
Jundara chortles softly at some secret joke.
Miraena quietly says, "He did not seem to me as friendly as people want him to be."
Avrenka chuckles.
Miraena frowns.
Jundara shakes her head.
Nevali nods at Miraena, obviously agreeing with her views.
Miraena says to Nevali, "As for when Dirge was freed, I stayed in my room. The commotion on the streets and on the gweth were far too much for me to come out."
Nevali says, "That is why so many turned violent so quickly against Asildu..."
Tirost says to Miraena, "Yes, he doesn't appear friendly, but he has protected us many times."
Miraena frowns at Nevali.
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "I do not know that he is friendly in general. I do think that he has been roused to action in matters of wild magic, though."
Voidfang asks Miraena, "So... do you have any idea how to bring the lost people back?"
Voidfang clears his throat.
Nevali says to Miraena, "And same, I was at home. But I still felt it, still heard it... it was... very strange."
Gragnel says, "Immortals, like people, are all vastly different and represent different things. Meraud is dedicated to knowledge, so to some he may seem cold or reserved."
Voidfang says, "I might've asked that already."
Voidfang says, "Sorry."
Miraena says to Nevali, "The fight was supposed to be between Unaka and Asildu. It seemed very inappropriate for everyone to rush in."
Voidfang says, "Weird day."
Nevali nods emphatically at Miraena.
Miraena says to Voidfang, "I'm very sorry for the loss of your friends, but I don't know anything about where they are."
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "And I heard some say that about you protecting Asildu."
Tirost says to Miraena, "...You were the first to rush in, Miraena."
Miraena says to Nevali, "If I heard it, I may have confused it with sounds from this..."
Miraena adjusts her kyanite gwethdesuan.
Voidfang says to Miraena, "I'm not sure they're my friends. But also, I've no idea where they are, either. Thought you might, considering the circumstances."
Nevali says to Miraena, "While I was trying to guard you to keep you out of harm's way, to boot..."
Miraena shakes her head at Voidfang.
Avrenka flashes a quick grin at Tirost.
Voidfang looks at Miraena and shrugs.
Miraena says to Tirost, "Because Unaka was being a bully! Asildu is not a fighter, and she is much bigger than he is."
Nevali says, "Although I will say there is a vast difference between rushing in to DEFEND someone, and rushing in to murder someone."
Miraena quietly says, "Or at least, he wasn't."
Miraena nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Tirost says to Miraena, "He is very much a fighter."
Casari says, "Unaka had no business fighting Asildu in the first place."
Lupdels nods to Casari.
Avrenka says, "Indeed .. in fact ... it seemed Asildu's demeanor and abilities changed drastically after Unaka accidentally struck you."
Voidfang ponders as deeply as he can imagine... and comes up with a blank stare.
Kerenelle says, "I do think it might have been better if she'd allowed the experiment we were trying to conduct to complete."
Nevali says, "It definitely seemed the Heralds empowered him with knowledge and capabilities he didn't know he was capable of."
Lupdels nods to Kerenelle.
Miraena says to Tirost, "He was not a fighter. I... think the Heralds provided him some abilities to protect himself."
Miraena nods to Nevali.
Nevali says to Voidfang, "Sorry, you missed... a lot."
Voidfang nods to Nevali.
Miraena says, "It's like when we did not know we spoke other languages now. We don't KNOW what these powers we have are, until they come to us."
Voidfang says to Nevali, "I know. I'm sorry."
Lupdels ponders.
Nevali says to Voidfang, "Not your fault... I missed a lot, too. I'm always playing catch up with the rest."
Tirost asks Miraena, "That he could use instantenously to such affect?"
Kerenelle says, "Hrmmmm."
Miraena asks Tirost, "When pushed to defend himself?"
Avrenka says, "...or pushed to defend someone he loves."
Tirost says to Miraena, "Another explanation is that he is not what he told you he was."
Voidfang asks Nevali, "The gods shunted my house somewhere else, and I got greatly annoyed, and just decided to sleep for a month or so. Do you blame me?"
Avrenka coughs.
Miraena shakes her head.
Nevali says to Voidfang, "Technically not gods that did that."
Nevali grins weakly at Voidfang.
Miraena says to Tirost, "I know more about him than you do."
Kerenelle says to Tirost, "I believe you missed the part of the conversation where Miraena told us she thinks Asildu may be changing."
Nevali says to Voidfang, "But no, no blame."
Voidfang looks at Nevali and shrugs.
Tirost nods.
Kerenelle says to Tirost, "As a result of his connection to the Heralds."
Miraena quietly says to Kerenelle, "This is the type of pushing I mentioned. They push and demand, without asking questions first."
Casari says to Miraena, "I hope that Asildu can be saved from what has become of him."
Miraena quietly says, "It's what I fear is pushing Asildu's emotions to mimic that of the Heralds."
Voidfang asks Nevali, "Also, got kinda tired of being nothing. Dunno how to be anything but nothing though, so... weird. Is it okay if I beg another hug?"
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "And that's why I like to point things out they missed, if I know of something."
Kerenelle flashes a wide grin at Miraena.
Miraena nods at Kerenelle, obviously agreeing with her views.
A light rain begins to patter down from above.
Voidfang grins at Nevali.
Miraena says to Kerenelle, "And I thank you for that."
Lupdels says to Kerenelle, "You are doing great, you observe most keenly, you could be a Bard."
Nevali sticks out her tongue at Voidfang and lets loose with a loud, "Thbtbtbt" from her lips!
Nevali gives Voidfang a brotherly hug, rubbing his scalp with her knuckles.
Gragnel asks Lupdels, "Why would you subject anyone to such tormet?"
Gragnel chuckles.
Kerenelle winks at Lupdels.
Lupdels exclaims to Gragnel, "She'd get to drink more!"
Kerenelle says to Lupdels, "I'm just an introvert. Don't need to clutter my mind up with so much talking."
Voidfang hugs Nevali, who wraps her arms around Voidfang with a warm smile.
Voidfang beams at Nevali!
Lupdels smiles at Kerenelle.
Miraena asks, "Was anyone here other than Avrenka contacted by an Immortal personally?"
Kerenelle grins.
Kerenelle says, "Nawain."
Casari shakes her head at Miraena.
Kerenelle says, "Briaen."
Tirost says, "Kethrai."
Miraena beams!
Miraena says, "I know Adventurer Kethrai."
Tirost nods.
Nevali says, "Karthor, a dwarf empath... he saw Kertigen."
Kerenelle says, "Oh, and Karthor."
Tirost says, "You should speak to him when you have time."
Miraena exclaims, "And Karthor!"
Miraena says, "I like them both very much."
Tirost smiles.
Nevali asks Miraena, "Want to know something really funny?"
Voidfang looks at Nevali and blushes.
Miraena nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Miraena nods to Nevali.
Nevali says to Miraena, "One of the Prydaen gods is Eu... spelled E, U. It is less a god, and more the concept of nature. Therefore, I see my god every time I open my eyes, and feel it when they're closed, too."
Miraena beams at Nevali!
Reverend Gragnel wandered over to a narrow track.
Miraena exclaims to Nevali, "That sounds beautiful!"
Nevali nods to Miraena.
Reverend Gragnel wandered over to a narrow track.
Voidfang asks Nevali, "You lived in the sewers for a while. Sure you're not confused about that god being called, "Ew"?"
Miraena says, "I used to believe I could see the Immortals hands every time we had a successful crop."
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Lupdels frowns at Voidfang.
Nevali chortles softly at some secret joke.
Tirost smiles at Miraena.
Gragnel offers Miraena a worn cambrinth-bound volume of "The Immortals".
Nevali says to Voidfang, "Goober."
Voidfang grins at Nevali.
Voidfang looks at Lupdels and shrugs.
Voidfang says, "I'm a goober. Sorry."
Voidfang blushes a bright red color.
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "I would imagine you were quite fond of Berengaria and Hodierna, then."
Miraena beams at Gragnel!
Gragnel offers Miraena a worn cambrinth-bound volume of "The Immortals".
Miraena nods to Kerenelle.
Miraena says to Kerenelle, "Although I confess I did not follow one in particular. They were all just kind of.... The Immortals, you know? Pieces of the whole."
Gragnel offers Miraena a worn cambrinth-bound volume of "The Immortals".
Miraena accepts Gragnel's cambrinth-bound volume.
Kerenelle nods to Miraena.
Gragnel bows to Miraena.
Miraena smiles at Gragnel.
Jundara beams!
Nevali reaches down and rubs Jundara's tail.
Miraena says to Gragnel, "I will take this back to my village, if I make it back there."
Miraena rubs a worn cambrinth-bound volume of "The Immortals".
Voidfang clears his throat.
Tirost praises Miraena.
Miraena looks at Tirost and blushes.
Voidfang asks, "Mirae Pardon? Your village? What village? Where?"
Nevali twitches an ear nervously.
Tirost traces a geometric sigil in the air.
Gragnel says to Miraena, "Perhaps that book will help, I hope it sheds some light on our benevolent Lords and Ladies of the thirty-nine."
Voidfang clears his throat.
Voidfang asks Miraena, "Pardon? Your village? What village? Where?"
Jundara nods to Gragnel.
Miraena says to Voidfang, "My village is far to the west of here."
Miraena wryly says, "And yes, it has no name."
Voidfang nods to Miraena.
Nevali says, "We should name it."
Nevali says, "Miraenaville."
Voidfang nods to Nevali.
Miraena laughs at Nevali.
Kerenelle exclaims to Nevali, "I totally just thought the exact same thing!"
Miraena says to Nevali, "If adventurers turn out to be correct, naming a village after a Herald messenger might not... be a good idea."
Kerenelle raises her voice in merry laughter.
Miraena nibbles her lip thoughtfully.
Tirost chuckles at Miraena.
Voidfang asks, "Naw, too simple. Miraenaton? Miraenaship? Heck. Togstown? They deserve some credit too, right?"
Nevali says to Miraena, "Better than my other idea, which was The Village of Herald Dreams..."
You see Messenger Miraena, Voice of the Heralds of Elanthia, a Human.
Miraena has a heart-shaped face, sparkling gold eyes and a small nose. Her mouse brown hair is short and wavy. She has rosy skin and a plump figure.
She is tall for a Human.
She appears to be young.
She is in good shape.
She is holding an oak peasant's walking stick in her right hand and a worn cambrinth-bound volume of "The Immortals" in her left.
She is wearing a craftsman's satchel, a homespun blue wool cap, a burlap tunic layered under a weathered leather vest, some burlap workman's pants and some weathered leather sandals with burnished brass buckles.
Miraena laughs!
Miraena says, "Well friends, I thank you very much for your time telling me what happened with Dirge, and about what you have seen in visions."
Kerenelle asks, "Berengaria's Hold, or maybe Berhold for short?"
Nevali says to Miraena, "How are your flowers doing? You know... you never gave me one. I made a whole speech about how you never gave me one, but I won't give up on you anyway..."
Tirost says to Miraena, "Farewell, Miraena. Stay safe."
Miraena beams at Nevali!
Gragnel says to Miraena, "I hope we are well met on this day, Miraena."
Miraena puts her stick in her craftsman's satchel.
Miraena gets a blue iris from inside her craftsman's satchel.
Voidfang says to Miraena, "I ain't seen ... anything."
Miraena asks Nevali, "Would you like one?"
Jundara trills softly at Nevali.
Voidfang coughs.
Nevali asks Miraena, "I certainly don't need one... but if you want me to have it, I'll take it?"
Voidfang quivers.
Kerenelle says to Miraena, "Safe paths, Miraena."
Jundara nods to Miraena.
Miraena earnestly says to Nevali, "I am so very sorry I never gave you one. You have been very kind to me since I arrived, and that was my error."
Miraena offers Nevali a blue iris.
Nevali shrugs.
Nevali accepts Miraena's blue iris.
Nevali beams at Miraena!
Ranger Stormreacher just arrived.
Nevali says, "I never held it against you. Been passed over for lots of things."
Jundara hugs Nevali, who wraps her arms around Jundara with a warm smile.
Nevali gently kisses Jundara on the cheek.
Jundara smiles.
Miraena says to Nevali, "Never passed over again in my thoughts."
Miraena curtsies to Nevali.
Casari grins.
Nevali says, "You were so busy handing them out and speaking, that first day you arrived."
Voidfang gestures, and a strong warm breeze swirls around Stormreacher.
Voidfang nods to Stormreacher.
Miraena says, "If anyone sees Asildu, please ask him to speak with me."
Stormreacher nods to Voidfang.
Miraena gives a slight nod.
Nevali pushes her glasses up the bridge of her nose.
Gragnel nods.
Kerenelle nods to Miraena.
Nevali trills softly at Miraena.
Sister Seef goes southeast.
Miraena waves.
Ranger Stormreacher wandered over to a narrow track.
Jundara curtsies gracefully to Miraena.
Gragnel waves.
Nevali says, "We're glad you're well..."
Nevali waves to Miraena.
Casari waves to Miraena.
Jundara waves to Miraena.
Messenger Miraena wanders southeast.
Jundara says, "Be safe, friend."
Nevali gets a small kertig's tear meteorite from inside her cambrinth baldric.
Tirost glances at Kerenelle.
Lupdels slowly empties his lungs.
Nevali puts her iris in her tear meteorite.
Jundara smiles at Nevali.
* Miraena returns home from a hard day of adventuring.
Kerenelle raises an eyebrow in Tirost's direction.
Nevali puts her meteorite in her cambrinth baldric.
Nevali wraps her arms lovingly around Jundara, snuggling close.
Gragnel says, "I think I'll go say a prayer or two for her."
Gragnel gives a slight nod.
Reverend Gragnel slogs southeast.
Nevali nods.
Nevali hugs Voidfang, getting a smile in return.
Voidfang says, "Fff... Didn't get to say bye. My bad, took too long."
Voidfang grumbles.
Tirost asks Kerenelle, "Did she give any details on how Asildu was changing and in what ways?"
Lupdels pats Voidfang on the back.
Lupdels says, "That's ok."
Casari dusts herself off.
Firehawk Casari wandered over to a narrow track.
Jundara says, "I heard he was growing scales."
Voidfang looks at Lupdels and shrugs.
Tirost nods to Jundara.
Tirost says to Jundara, "I've noticed that myself."
Nevali says, "Saw them when Unaka tore a piece of his skin away, too."
Lupdels says to Tirost, "The influence of the Heralds, or whatever entities are behind this, may be influencing his demeanor ... like they are pouring themselves into him and it's impacting him."
Tirost nods to Nevali.
Voidfang says to Lupdels, "Pretty sure I was gonna exclaim something about how much I enjoy having my own foot in my mouth or something."
Tirost frowns.
Jundara shudders.
Nevali says, "He's turning into a dragon or something..."
Kerenelle says to Tirost, "Not a ton of details. Part of the problem has been Asildu has refused to speak with her ever since the fight with Unaka and they used to speak every night."
Tirost asks Lupdels, "Do you think he can be freed from their influence? Or would want to be?"
Voidfang says, "Not important at all, I'm sure."
Nevali says, "Still need to figure out what the difference is, between Herald, Dragon, Guardian, Gardener..."
Tirost gazes thoughtfully at Kerenelle.
Lupdels asks Tirost, "I am not an expert on exorcism. How difficult is it to remove powerful entitites once they have latched onto a host?"
Nevali says, "She never quite answered me about the Heralds saying wild magic was here to stay..."
Voidfang says, "I'm uh. Mm. Mmmmm, I love being criminally useless. Feels good."
Voidfang nods emphatically.
Lupdels nods to Nevali.
Kerenelle says to Voidfang, "It takes a while to stop feeling that way. Just keep training and you'll get there."
Nevali says to Voidfang, "First step is just listening and trying to find people willing to talk to, really..."
Tirost says to Lupdels, "It's a good question. I've never seen or heard of anything like what's going on with Asildu."
Jundara nods to Voidfang.
Nevali brightly says, "I still feel useless."
Voidfang says to Nevali, "I really shoulda been a bard."
Lupdels smiles at Voidfang.
Voidfang grins at Nevali.
Lupdels exclaims to Voidfang, "Maybe there's still a chance!"
Jundara peers quizzically at Voidfang.
Voidfang giggles at Lupdels.
Lupdels says to Tirost, "I have an understanding it may be similar to other posessions that have occured."
Jundara asks, "Are you trying to say that bard's are useless and that's why you should have been one?"
Jundara angles her ears forward, gazing curiously at Voidfang.
Tirost ponders.
Voidfang asks Lupdels, "You flatter me, but someday, I'm gonna beg you for a hug, and won't you regret that?"
Lupdels says to Voidfang, "I don't understand you and hugs, but you seem friendly enough."
Tirost softly says to Lupdels, "Ciriasa died when we tried to prevent Maelshyve from entering the plane through her..."
Voidfang says to Jundara, "N... no. Mmf. Thou woundest me."
Lupdels nods to Tirost.
Nevali says to Voidfang, "If you keep using the word beg, I'm gonna give you a bone and a headpat and a "Good boy" and then you have every right to rip my arm off."
Tirost runs his fingers through his hair.
Tirost says, "It is good that Miraena seems less affected."
Voidfang says to Nevali, "Rip your arm off? No? I would never. Never bite the hand that headpats."
The rain stops, leaving only an overcast sky.
Voidfang nods to Nevali.
Lupdels nods to Tirost.
Nevali chortles softly at some secret joke.
Tirost says, "I think Kethrai and Karthor will be good for her to speak with."
Lupdels says to Tirost, "My observation is that Asildu seems to have more anger within him, which perhaps was an anchor for whatever is influencing him. Or perhaps there are truely different entitites speaking to Asildu and Miraena."
Nevali says, "Uh.. huh..."
Tirost nods to Lupdels.
Nevali says, "Um."
Nevali says, "Heyyyyy..."
Tirost says, "There seem to be multiple voices when they wish to be heard, suggesting multiple entities."
Nevali asks, "You know that theory about the five missing people being inside the prison of the Hungry Gardener and the wondering about if they somehow let that being out?"
Voidfang says, "Only anger I got left is for myself. Prolly shouldn't engage with some other entities."
Lupdels nods to Nevali.
Nevali says, "What if that's Asildu now."
Tirost nods to Kerenelle.
Jundara asks, "Oh! like Asildu is the gardener, not a Herald?"
Nevali nods to Jundara.
Nevali says, "And knows enough about them to kind of..."
Lupdels says to Nevali, "I am curious if there is Asildu and what is within him or just Asildu pretending to have a transformation."
Nevali says, "Pretend."
Lupdels nods.
Voidfang asks Jundara, "Wha? Who? Gardener?"
Lupdels says, "The Hungry Gardener."
Lupdels frowns.
Nevali says to Voidfang, "Yeah, it's... a thing..."
Nevali gazes off into the distance.
Voidfang says, "I'm gonna stop talking and hide and go ... uhh. I promise I won't hurt myself."
Tirost says to Voidfang, "An entity in a vision when life magic users beseeched Elanthia."
Voidfang nods.
Avrenka says to Lupdels, "Don't think he could pretend to have overwhelming combat abilities over Unaka."
Lupdels says to Avrenka, "I suppose one shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but from what I've heard his combat abilities may have exceeded his exterior appearance."
Avrenka says, "Possible."
Voidfang nods to Nevali.
Avrenka says, "Though Miraena claimed to know him best and thought it wasn't so."
Tirost says, "He is far stronger than any adventurer I've ever faced."
Kerenelle says to Tirost, "Which makes a certain sense if the Heralds are changing him."
Tirost nods to Kerenelle.
Lupdels nods to Kerenelle.
Nevali says, "If he's 100% Asildu, then perhaps the Heralds might have put too much power into keeping him safe to be their ... herald. And that much power in one person is just... bad."
Avrenka says, "I must retire for now."
Avrenka waves.
Avrenka raises his palms skyward, chanting.
Avrenka gestures.
Without fanfare, Avrenka is simply gone.
Tirost thoughtfully says, "I wonder why he is no longer speaking to Miraena..."
Lupdels nods to Nevali.
Lupdels frowns.
Kerenelle says to Tirost, "Yeah, that is an interesting question, for sure."
Jundara angles her ears forward, gazing curiously at Tirost.
Jundara nods to Tirost.
Tirost nods to Kerenelle.
Lupdels says, "I wanted to talk to Avrenka more about tracking down the mana thief, oh well."
Lupdels sighs.
(Everyone started leaving, conversation drifted. Log ended.)
