Involuted Passage

Originally called the Nascent Unknown. After firing some crystal down at Elanthia and preparing to do so again, the Involuted Passage was raided by a swarm of crauyarin scuttlers and avtalia scuttlers, some of which it took control of by transforming them into 'starburned' versions and using them to fight back. With the help of adventurers the scuttlers disabled the crystal at the center of the asteroid and disassembled large parts of the structure, giving adventurers access to the heart of the structure shortly before the entire thing vanished in a flash of light.

History

Original Appearance

Only recently formed or observed in the night sky, little is known about this object. It appears as a faintly visible smudge of hollow, pale light, and seems to be jittering in place.
And, if a Moon Mage: Hovering at the limit of your perception, the object remains an uncertainty. While guild astronomers assert that it is nothing more than the birth of a new star, their astrologer contemporaries warn of what may come.

Developing Appearance

Slowly developing, it remains unclear what phenomena dictates the evolution of this object. Presently it appears as streak of light whose ends are approximately 5 degrees apart, occasionally bending at various angles before straightening again over the course of several minutes.
And, if a Moon Mage: Your prophetic senses ring oddly while observing the object, and you attempt to make sense of the pattern it creates over time. You feel that attempting to do so would lead to nothing more than frustration and a strong desire to to tear your starcharts and notes to shreds.

Evolving Appearance

Gradually evolving, this body appears to be traveling within our solar system. Presently it appears as arcing and bending lines, which gravitate around a black ring that is speckled with slowly shrinking blobs of hazy, dark blue.
And, if a Moon Mage: You feel a burst of uncertainty and cannot shake the impression of a deep chill. You have the strange impression that the phenomenon is somehow avoiding the orbits of nearby planets, though there has been no recorded changes to its progression across the night sky.

Accelerating Appearance

Gradually evolving, this body appears to be gaining speed as it travels within our solar system. Presently it appears as a vibrating whorl of pulsating dark blue light, fringed with radiating lines which sharply arc into nearly complete, expanding, fading, rings.
And, if a Moon Mage: You are filled with a sense of profound uncertainty, of standing at a crossroads. The phenomenon feels closer, despite remaining constant in size against the night sky, and you have the unsettling impression that it is focused on Elanthia.

Orbiting Appearance

Continuing to develop, this body has now achieved a synchronous orbit with Elanthia, maintaining a fixed position in the sky. A coalescing whorl of pulsating dark blue light, it appears to be growing in luminosity, shedding expanding rings of harsh light.
And, if a Moon Mage: Based on the Nascent Unknown's progression, you feel that it is now orienting itself -- perhaps with intentionality -- and have the harrowing sensation of looking down the shaft of a notched and drawn arrow.

Tightening Appearance

Swirling and slightly precessing, surrounded with long whorls of pulsating dark blue light which spiral inward, the body appears to be pulling itself into a tight point. It continues to grow ever brighter as it periodically - though without any observable pattern - flashes with angry white intensity.

And, if a Moon Mage: Though no charts or models have succeeded in modeling the body, astronomers and astrologers alike are in agreement that it is nearing the end of some kind of sequence, however, remain academically divided as to its true nature.

Note: Up until this point, the Nascent Unknown was only visible at night, and did not require a telescope.

Asteroid Appearance

Having lost much of its dramatic luminosity, the body is now faintly visible as a rocky asteroid, holding a fixed position directly overhead.  Careful viewing reveals a faint speck of churning crystal at the bodies visible center.
And, if a Moon Mage: As it orbits Elanthia, magical observation has revealed a vague trailing disturbance, visible only as it occults other celestial objects as odd distorted ripples in its wake.  No description of the physical entity long hidden within the Nascent Unknown's brilliant lightshow has reconciled the various models put forth by guild scholars.

Appearance After Explosions

Having lost much of its dramatic luminosity, the body is now faintly visible as a rocky asteroid, holding a fixed position directly overhead. The faint speck of crystal once barely visible is no longer present. And, if a Moon Mage: After the mysterious but thundrous bombardment, scholars are absolutely unclear what the Nascent Unknown is doing.

Reloading Appearance

Having lost much of its dramatic luminosity, the body is now faintly visible as a rocky asteroid, holding a fixed position directly overhead. The faint speck of crystal has returned, barely visibly churning at the bodies visible center.
And, if a Moon Mage: After the mysterious but thundrous bombardment, scholars are absolutely unclear what the Nascent Unknown is doing.

Struggling Appearance

Barely visible at the end of a slender beam of iridescent dark blue starlight, the activated Nascent Unknown is now performing its final act. And, if a Moon Mage: You hear them, no longer at the periphery, no longer whispering. They are scared, and they are so very angry. It is strange, their anger, for you are no longer its subject.
