With no known originating source other than the golems, it is surmised by researchers that the sand golem eye is the result of a magical transmutation of diamonds, due both to the stones sharing similar properties and to some aspects of the golem creation process that have been pieced together thus far. Sand golem eyes are typically found as smooth, somewhat flattened specimens, however they seem to take well to all manner of typical gem cuts, and show a scintillating fire when faceted, surpassing that of even the highest quality diamonds known to date.
