== Bone & Leather organization == |

So currently (Nov 2013) both the bone and leather materials are set up to sort by the creature name. And, on a converging project, it looks like Caraamon is also setting up individual pages for each material on the entire crafting materials page. I would suggest that we go ahead and change these 2 tables around so that the result is listed (crocodile-bone instead of blue belly crocodile, wolf-pelt leather instead of blood wolf, etc.). This way, we can have an individual material page for some of the rare stuff coming out of the 410 HE festival that doesn't have a creature immediately associated with it (salt-encrusted leather & blackened-bone come to mind). And, I imagine there is a chance that multiple creatures can sometimes produce the same thing. For instance, wolf-bones: right now a link to the Bone Wolf is on the table, but why not a link to Blood Wolf since neither has the bone information listed yet? And what if there's eventually an invasion creature that has a Massive Bone Wolf (or something) that gives wolf-bones. If we go ahead and change the tables to the end product, on each individual page it will open it up for multiple creatures providing the same items, plus being able to list when they are found from special events, like darkbox, gem box, Zasele, etc. I'll be happy to volunteer to change the tables if we agree to go ahead with it. --Kythryn 15:05, 13 November 2013 (UTC) |

: I definitely agree each bone should have it's own page, especially since we have cases of the same bone coming from more than one animal (e.g. bear bone). If you want to go ahead and set them up, go for it, otherwise I'll get around to it sooner or later. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 14:16, 14 November 2013 (UTC) |

::So got started with the common bone section. Or, instead of adding her as a source, maybe there is an Source Search put onto all these materials pages too, maybe make a special item type or source for each? Not really sure the best way to go about it, but seems like something we should be able to do...:) That way, we can include the drops out of darkbox, the gem box and any future alternative-source drops too? ::And I did try to roll in the new table code that you've used on the common metals, updated it for bone, but at the bottom was getting the "more results" line and wasn't sure how to make it show everything. So, I left the existing table. Also, you'll notice a 2nd table with just Snow Goblins, the bone stats are different from the other goblins so I didn't combine them, however I don't know what the bone name of those is so didn't make a page (and didn't want it to get lost). Are they snow bones, snow goblin bones? --Kythryn 16:33, 14 November 2013 (UTC) |

I am just about finished transitioning all these to the 'new' system. There are a few common leather items that I need to double check the full leather name on, they are still on the "old style" table at the bottom of the sub-section. Obviously, all the statistics are there for each, but before making the pages, need to double check that cougar pelts do turn into cougar-pelt leather, that faenrae stalker pelts turn into stalker-pelt leather, etc. I'll head out to the wilds with my trusty Guardian Spirit over the week, gather and tan stuff...unless someone has that information handy...:)--Kythryn 06:41, 19 November 2013 (UTC) |

Alchemy Properties
You are certain the niniam fragment would work well as an alchemical catalyst.
You are certain that the niniam fragment has a potency of 40, placing it at 'low potency' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the niniam fragment has an efficacy of 80, placing it at 'exceptional efficacy' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the niniam fragment has a solubility of 70, placing it at 'quite soluble' on the official Trader's Scale.
Wasn't sure where to toss something like this but I just noticed with an appraise careful on it. 7/11/13
- If this data is now intentionally in Prime I'm comfortable making a new materials section tonight for it. --TEVESHSZAT 21:09, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
- Niniam and coal were already posted on the prime forums (so it should be declassified) and there currently is a section: Crafting_Materials#Catalyst
- Shows how often I check the data on that page! --TEVESHSZAT 20:53, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- Although, now that I'm looking at the data, it's not correct. So maybe it was a first draft of the data. I'll clear it out for now just because it's not correct and I don't know if finalized stuff on this in Plat is still under embargo. --TEVESHSZAT 20:56, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

Interesting, but as muracite is a metal in DR, so I don't think it's that. I suspect they grabbed a nice sounding name then applied whatever stats they wanted. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 08:22, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Leathers
So, I've got a chatter log from Plat with a bunch of leather types sorted by durability/workability/electric/thermal/physical. Someone put it all in a fancy table?
[18:44] Chatter[Uzmam] croc is 80/40/30/50/80
[18:44] Chatter[Uzmam] troll is 30/80/20/20/75
[18:44] Chatter[Uzmam] eel is 20/85/15/15/75
[18:45] Chatter[Uzmam] ghoul is 20/30/80/10/40 haha anti electric armor
[18:45] Chatter[Uzmam] rat is 35/75/30/40/45
[18:45] Chatter[Uzmam] cougar is 30/75/25/25/75
[18:45] Chatter[Hverkis] Eel's pretty easy to work with. Hmm.
[18:45] Chatter[Uzmam] Oh, and leucro is 50/60/35/35/75
[18:46] Chatter[Hverkis] Applause!
[18:46] Chatter[Vakroth] Ok, so what are those numbers?
[18:46] Chatter[Uzmam] snowbeast is 30/20/40/40/50

I included the quality because I don't know if it will affect the other stats. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 09:45, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
I added the store bought stone crafting materials since this seems to be a general purpose crafting material page. It might just be best to split it into separate pages for each material type. --BlueRider 01:48, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Audrualm is an alluvial metal and will be able to be found once the panning system is introduced, per Kodius. I believe orichalcum may not be unique, but I need to check around to see if I'm correct in thinking someone in Plat has found it. -Amonamarth 16:03, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
What specificaly does the Checked column mean? I mean, is it only for location found or all stats? I found some jade in metamorphic and soapstone in sedimentary if that helps any. Otterino 23:29, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- There were changes to metal stats (maybe stone too?) after the page went up. The checked column indicates that the item has been refound and it's stats properly match. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 00:11, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Apps for metals changed, I changed glaes, kertig, darkstone, and haralun to the new values. Lumium, niniam, and damite are the same as before. 7-3-2011
Location Qualifiers
So I am just putting this out for a discussion. Right now, the materials list for mine-able items lists if something can come from any of the 3 soil types (igneous, metamorphic & sedimentary). I think there might also be a geographic location qualifier too.
For instance, I have spent (way too much) time mining the Ilithi Ice Caves, top section with only igneous. And I have never found a platinum vein or even a random platinum nugget from those mine rooms. According to the list, platinum *should* be spawning there, and even with horrible luck as far as a vein, because it is only 'rare', I would have expected the single random nuggets to drop at a rate on-par with the random gold nuggets (also 'rare') that frequently drop for me in that area.
In a nutshell, I am putting out the theory that not only do you have to have the correct soil type for the material you are looking for, but you also need to be in the appropriate geographic location. I definitely am not making a statement of fact to this idea, but wanted to open a discussion on it to see if anyone else has picked up on similar trends. And of course, if there is a location qualifier, if we should start compiling that data for the table. --Kythryn 09:41, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
I could have sworn that platinum was a very rare metal. --BlueRider 10:14, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
adding Alchemy Materials (herbs)
soooo...lots of the herbs have their own pages already (ex. blocil), but with the remedies release, there is now information for each like many of the other crafting materials:
You are certain that the plant material in the dried plovik has a quality of 99, placing it at 'perfect' on the official Trader's Scale.
You are certain that the plant material in the dried plovik has a workability of 50, placing it at 'somewhat challenging to work with' on the official Trader's Scale.
The dried plovik are a bit flexible.
Should we consolidate them onto a table on this page and remove the old pages, make a table here and link to the old pages, something else entirely? --Kythryn 11:58, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
- Because the herbs have lore-ish and other uses, follow the pattern set by metals. Make a central table of materials and properties here, then link to the individual page with information on appearance, smell, location, etc. If you also want to add the specific crafting traits to those pages, go ahead, as I'm considering doing that for metals, just so people don't have to click around so much. Worse comes to worse, we just delete them later. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 13:39, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
- For what it's worth, I think most herbs have 50 workability. At least they did when I was initially testing the stuff last month. The more dynamic part for alchemy so far seems to be the catalyst, which drives the final remedy stats. --TEVESHSZAT 00:58, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
- So maybe we just do a table with the catalysts, and have a section underneath with a link to a page with a link to the Healing herbs page (which also needs to be updated)? --Kythryn 04:01, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
- Since catalysts cross a wide range of materials already out there, and will include more as well, I'm just adding those stat numbers to the material listings already here. Like what I did for pewter, coal, niniam, and oricalcum. Having some materials listed in two separate spots seems weird to me. --TEVESHSZAT 04:25, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

Bone & Leather organization
So currently (Nov 2013) both the bone and leather materials are set up to sort by the creature name. - So got started with the common bone section. I was going to add Zasele as a source on ones confirmed she gives out (just did it with the Bear Bone one so far), but of course, that opens up the question on if you want that added to all the other materials she hands out too. I can go back and edit the sources if you let me know how you want to handle that.
- Oh, and do you want to add the dyes on the page here too, or maybe have a link to Artistry dye somewhere in the Outfitting section?
- And I did try to roll in the new table code that you've used on the common metals, updated it for bone, but at the bottom was getting the "more results" line and wasn't sure how to make it show everything.
