You follow Eyst north.<br>
[Wilderness, Edge of the Primal Encasement]<br>
An abrupt line slashes across the forest here, the tree line ending with a stark immediacy and with the ground cleared. To the north, a crater descends gently downward, encased in a veritable wall of snapping and writhing thorny vines that constantly churn the land and create an impassable barrier. Extending upward into a vague teardrop pinnacle from which erupts a golden beam of light, the lifesculpted spire occupies the same space Knife Clan previously occupied.

Sofina stretches her arms.

Zfora's eyes look a bit clearer now.

Eyst casually observes the area.

Kaylecca blinks.

Zfora's eyes look strange for just a moment.

Sofina drags the point of her ritual knife along the palm of her hand, letting some of the blood drip onto her worm fetish.

As if drawn from thin air by some inexplicable magic, a risen fiend appears close by.

A risen fiend walks toward Sofina with a slight growl, but does not attack.

A risen fiend bows respectfully to Sofina.

Sofina puts her fetish in her scavenger's pack.

Zehira reveals herself.

Zehira holds out her arms to her sides in a preparatory gesture.

Zehira shudders slightly as streams of black energy slide up across her arms from her fingertips before arcing out along her entire body.

Whitened ridges rise up from beneath Zehira's skin all across her limbs and torso.

Zfora says, "It looks like we may have lost our most faithful supporter."

Eyst says, "How auspicious. The site appears deserted for the moment."

Sofina says to Eyst, "Do let me know when it needs to sing."

Zynell gasps at Zfora!

Eyst gets a rugged black backpack from inside his tinker's pack.

Zynell angles an ear toward Zfora slightly, but otherwise ignores her.

Eyst nods.

Zynell folds her arms across her chest.

Zersha squeezes one of the tendrils of her cloak, sending the mass into a frenzy as it probes curiously towards the ground. Satisfied, the vines anchor themselves into the ground and then slowly stretch back up, absorbing the water dripping from Zersha.

Sofina mutters to herself.

Zehira grimaces as the pallid mask upon her face falls away, returning color to her skin.

Sofina says, "That Rakash was brave walking into that Inn."

Sofina mutters to herself.

Sothios grins at Zynell.

Zynell sticks out her tongue at Zfora and lets loose with a loud, "Thbtbtbt" from her lips!

Eyst says, "A final warning. If the heralds respond as they did some nights ago, I believe we will have to consider the experiment concluded. I am no manner of combat leader."

Zersha quietly asks, "Brave or foolish?"

Sofina says, "Foolish."

Sofina nods to Zersha.

An arisen goblin zombie shambles in with a groan.

Zehira says, "He's an idiot."

Zfora nods to Zehira.

Kaylecca nods to Eyst.

Narrowing her eyes, Zehira presses her fingertips against the side of her neck.<br>
Seams of reddish-black energy spread from Zehira's hand, eventually settling into a monstrous pattern shining through her skin.

Zynell says to Eyst, "Hit it like you mean it is most of combat leading."

Eyst says, "Now then, anyone with materials please produce them."

Zynell nods to Eyst.

Zfora says, "He was a knife's edge from becoming a dead idiot."

Sofina nods to Zfora.

An arisen goblin zombie sniffs the air.

Sofina says, "He's been slandering me all day."

Sofina snarls.

An arisen goblin zombie's head swings from side to side viperishly.

Eyst tugs at the tip of his mustache distractedly.

Zehira gestures.<br>
A smoky film of grey mist exudes from Zehira's palms as she draws them close to her face. Breathing in deeply, her mouth remains open as she trembles for a second. She recovers after a moment and looks pleased.

Zynell says, "Day? you have been stealing his kids for weeks now."

Zynell playfully tilts her ears toward Sofina.

Blackspine reveals himself.

Blackspine gestures.<br>
As Blackspine extends his left hand towards an arisen goblin zombie, the creature begins to exude a sense of unnatural vibrancy, its motions becoming preternaturally efficient.

Sofina snickers at Zynell.

Zfora snickers.

Tinkerer Olinslag just arrived.

Zehira gestures.<br>
Color leeches from the skin on Zehira's head, bleaching it to a pallid mask. Her eyes screw shut in an expression of rapturous pain as her head reshapes itself freakishly, becoming more angular.

Sofina says to Zynell, "I only offered to provide them a better life than which he can provide."

An arisen goblin zombie groans to itself, gazing about.

Eyst says, "If you like, please place your materials close to the encasement."

Lilustra gestures.<br>
A smoky film of grey mist exudes from Lilustra's palms as she draws them close to her face. Breathing in deeply, her mouth remains open as she trembles for a second. She recovers after a moment and looks pleased.

Zynell says to Sofina, "That is not a hard tas."

Olinslag asks, "Ever get a breakthrough?"

Eyst drops a rugged black backpack.

Eyst picks up a rugged black backpack.

Zfora gets a flawless chunk of beast material from inside a swirling eddy of incandescent light bound by a gold-striated coralite frame.

Eyst opens his black backpack.

<span style="color:red">Whispers swirl throughout the area.

Eyst drops a rugged black backpack.

Zersha casually observes the area.

Sofina raises an eyebrow.

Zehira says, "Huh."

Khurzh appears to be listening intently for something.

Sofina says, "Cant make out what they are saying."

Zfora asks, "Where are we putting it?"

(Eyst upends his backpack of materials close to the edge of the encasement. Offal spills out, just shy of the depression.)

Sothios grins.

<span style="color:red">The whispers intensify, fading in and out.

Sofina moves over to guard Zersha.

An arisen goblin zombie sniffs the air.

Yavash sets, slowly dropping below the horizon.

Sofina nods to Zersha.

Zersha grins at Sofina, her dimples flashing into view.

Zfora sighs.

Zersha rests her hand on Sofina's arm with a soft smile.

Sofina winks at Zersha.

(Eyst halts and listens for a moment.)

Sofina grins at Zersha.

Blackspine reveals himself.

Blackspine gestures at an arisen goblin zombie.

<span style="color:red">You hear Them screaming, echoing in the distance. The cacophony fades.

<span style="color:red">A thin red line appears in the air above you, and suddenly, snaps open revealing a large eye with several distorted pupils. The pupils roll and shift grotesquely, focusing upon you. The eye closes, and vanishes.

Eyst says, "Is everyone else hearing that."

Despite its otherwise well-preserved appearance, an arisen goblin zombie drips a flap of flesh to the ground.

Sofina says, "That eye...."

Eyst gazes up at the sky.

Zersha blinks.

Sofina says, "The anomaly..."

Zfora says, "That's kind of what it looked like to me..."

Sofina nods to Zfora.

Sofina says, "Very much."

Eyst says, "Well. We've caught the attention of something. Perhaps we should hasten. Now would be a good time to begin our chorus."

Lilustra raises an eyebrow.

Sofina raises an eyebrow.

Zehira grins, revealing her dimples.

Eyst gets a perfect lobster fetish from inside his tinker's pack.

Sofina asks, "Move...move where?"

Zersha gazes up at the sky.

Zynell casually observes the area.

Zfora says, "The Profane."

Zersha glances at Sofina.

Zehira exclaims, "I knew you heard me!"

<span style="color:red">A scorpion skitters into the area and darts back and forth. It waves its pinchers and with a loud *clackclack!* snaps them in the air, sending silvery sparks of starlight drifting upward, motes of light that slowly fade. You blink, and the scorpion is nowhere to be found.

Eyst blinks.

Zynell quirks her ears outward in surprise.

(Zersha glances around nervously.)

Khurzh asks, "He of the Void?"

Eyst says, "Hm."

Blackspine draws his blade and makes a thin cut across one of his hands.

Zynell nods.

Narrowing her eyes, Zfora presses her fingertips against the side of her neck.<br>
Seams of reddish-black energy spread from Zfora's hand, burrowing into her body.

Lilustra gets a perfect spider fetish from inside a canvas knapsack.

<span style="color:red">Something shifts in your gut. A tendril writhes up your stomach, pressing its way past your windpipe, wrapping around your tongue and you suppress the urge to retch. The feeling quickly fades, though an absolutely vile taste lingers in the back of your throat.

Khurzh coughs.

Eyst groans.

Zfora cackles!

Strawberry Nurse Illiya just arrived.

Zehira slowly empties her lungs.

Blackspine draws his blade and makes a thin cut across one of his hands.

Blackspine reveals himself.<br>
Blackspine gestures at an arisen goblin zombie.<br>
With a strange croaking noise, silken black dust spills from the cracks of Blackspine's fingers.<br>
The maimed parts of the goblin zombie's body collectively secrete maggoty ribbons of slime, pulsating a little. This prompts the dead skin, flesh and bone that make up the creature to pull apart, be displaced, then knit back together beneath the atrous catalyst.

Eyst says, "I urge us all to... persist... regardless of any nauseous phenomenon."

Zersha blanches.

A risen fiend gazes at Sofina mournfully, then walks over to her and holds out its limb. Sofina makes a series of ritual cuts on the fiend, which start weeping with a dark crimson color that doesn't quite look like blood.

Deep sobs emanate from a risen fiend as thick crimson liquid drips from its wounds.

Zehira says, "I told them."

Kaylecca gestures.<br>
Color leeches from the skin on Kaylecca's head, bleaching it to a pallid mask. Her eyes screw shut in an expression of rapturous pain as her head reshapes itself freakishly, becoming more angular.

<span style="color:red">Something skitters between the stars, an unsettling flicker of movement.

<span style="color:red">(Necromancers)
<span style="color:red">You feel them in the distance, watching for an opportunity, safely avoiding confrontation.

Zfora nods.

Zynell glances up at the sky.

<span style="color:red">From somewhere close, you hear a howl!

Illiya blinks.

Zersha gazes up at the sky.

Khurzh assumes a meditative stance, concentrating on something.

Zehira says to Zynell, "I told you."

<span style="color:red">The scorpion returns, its stinger poised and ready, its pinchers held high in defense. It rotates around, as if scanning the area, and vanishes in a golden haze.

Eyst says, "Onward them. Place the materials into the encasement however you please."

A rapid, nasal trill echoes from the risen creature to mix with a deep bass drone, rapidly becoming a sustained tremelo with chords across at least three octaves you can identify.

Zynell grins at Zehira.

Kaylecca gets an acid-washed chunk of dryad material from inside her saffron cloak.

<span style="color:red">The thin red line appears once more, and suddenly, snaps open, wider and wider, until you see nothing but darkness and pupils, countless pupils staring down at you, His attention boring into you and howling His displeasure at the Conquerer of the Wilds, the Maul that binds him! He fears her.

(Eyst nudges the spilled materials over the edge, allowing them to tumble downward into the waiting vines.)

Sofina draws her blade and makes a thin cut across one of her hands.

Olinslag touches a white runestone and closes his eyes in concentration.

Zynell twitches an ear nervously.

Olinslag puts his runestone in his black-jackal sack.

<span style="color:red">(Non-Necromancers)
<span style="color:red">A gentle breeze sweeps the area, bringing the scent of fresh flowers and rain. The vinewall seems to thicken, rising taller and solidifying.

A swirling vortex of brilliant light spins across the area.<br>
Raw energies rupture near Eyst, leaving him looking pale and drained.<br>
A fearsome mana surge slowly makes its way to the northwest, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.

Eyst frowns.

<span style="color:red">The scorpion again appears, skittering across the area. It seems to grow, the size of a dog, a horse, a house, a mountain, and you find yourself looking up at massive swaying pinchers and a horrifically looming stinger dripping with a glowing silvery fluid that leaves a sparkling trail of stars.

(Zersha gazes at the vinewall, watching it change.)

A fearsome shout falls from the risen creature as it fumbles over its singing. The shout becomes a roar, which then splits into many voices screaming in agony and despair.

Sofina gazes up at the sky.

You hear someone gasp!

<span style="color:red">The scorpions stinger whips forward too fast to follow, its tip disppearing into something far above that you cannot see. Reaching forward with one of its pinchers, the scorpion clasps at something, and brings it closer to its mouthparts. Held within its pincher, something flares with blinding luminescence, and the scorpion is now a hunched man trailing dripping smoke, cupping something in His hands.

Deep sobs emanate from a risen fiend as thick crimson liquid drips from its wounds.

A fearsome mana surge slowly makes its way into the area, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.

<span style="color:red">The man stares at the blinding object, and suddenly looks directly at you, His eyes an endless void, an empty abyss, a boundless chasm into which you fall, fall, fall...

Khurzh concentrates for several moments, a greedy expression on his face.<br>
A fearsome mana surge is abruptly erased from existence!

<span style="color:red">You blink, and everything is normal. The man is nowhere to be seen.

Eyst gazes off into the distance.

Zersha shivers.

Zynell smiles.

Sofina gazes off into the distance.

Sothios grins.

== After Discussion ==

You hear a male Rakash voice say, "So.."

Zersha rubs her eyes.

Eyst tugs at the tip of his mustache distractedly.

A risen fiend shambles about rather aimlessly, though it may have a purpose that isn't clear.

Lilustra kneels down.

Zfora ponders.

The risen creature echoes a series of sharp, staccato notes before transitioning to a wheezing drone that is not unlike the mournful sound of a slowly dying duck.

You hear a voice ask, "What did he catch?"

Zehira slowly empties her lungs.

Eyst asks, "Would anyone take a guess at what we just witnessed?"

Sofina asks, "Who was He?"

An arisen goblin zombie's head swings from side to side viperishly.

Zfora says, "The Maul."

Illiya rubs her head.

Sofina nods to Zfora.

Insidious susurrations lash the air around the risen creature, each punctured by the dying cry of something that sounds like a goat.

You hear a voice ask, "Urrem'tier is the scorpion, right?"

A risen fiend appears to be trying to look stoic, though it is very clear it is suffering.

Zynell nods.

Khurzh gives a slight nod.

Kaylecca puts her material in her saffron cloak.

Olinslag says, "Yeah."

Zersha softly asks, "Isn't he also Lord of the Void? Or am I confusing my Gods again?"

Zehira says, "We witnessed what I have been telling people for years...and years."

Eyst asks Zfora, "What is The Maul?"

Zynell nods to Zersha.

The risen creature gibbers in a chorus of deep voices, each vying to be the loudest.

Zersha grins at Zynell, her dimples flashing into view.

Lilustra glances at Zehira.

A reedy chorus of squawking and braying accompanies a wail emanating from the risen creature.

Zfora says to Zehira, "Please refresh our memory..."

A risen fiend gazes about impassively.

Zehira says to Zfora, "That's not my job."

Zynell says to Zersha, "Well immortal of the Void, there is another Void title for a warmage higherup."

Zfora smirks.

Zersha gives Zynell a slight nod.

The risen creature sways from side to side rhythmically as its overlapping voices become a melodic series of high trilling and low warbling.

Zersha quietly says to Zynell, "I get things confused all the time, so I'll take close."

Zersha looks at Zynell, obviously trying not to grin, but the dimples in her cheeks give her away.

A series of distressed barnyard noises emanate from the risen creature, occasionally broken up by supplications to Meraud.

Eyst frowns at Zehira.

Zynell nods.

A risen fiend winces as its life force drains away through its wounds.

Sofina grins at Zfora.

Zfora nods to Sofina.

Eyst says to Zehira, "Hording knowledge is not exactly in the spirit of the gathering."

An arisen goblin zombie sniffs the air.

A risen fiend looks about, making a groaning sound.

Zfora asks Eyst, "Oh, so you've just met Zehira?"

Zynell giggles at Eyst.

The risen creature babbles and shrieks in a strangely melodic fashion.

Blackspine says to Zehira, "You don't know any better than the rest of us."

Blackspine snorts, loudly.

Zehira says, "These are things you all should know. It's not for me to school you."

Zersha smiles at Illiya, revealing the dimples in her cheeks.

Khurzh nods at Blackspine, obviously agreeing with his views.

Despite its otherwise well-preserved appearance, an arisen goblin zombie drips a flap of flesh to the ground.

Without regard for musical sensibility, the risen creature blurts forth a series of rapid, pressured atonal undertone chords in a rich, bass drone admist sharp whistles.

Zersha asks, "Why would I know any of it?"

Zfora chuckles.

Blackspine rolls his eyes.

Zehira says, "Need to know basis for mouth breathers."

Blackspine says, "Oh get over yourself."

Each one of the risen creature's voices fight to be heard over the rest, rising in volume until they become nothing but screams and roars that still somehow convey a sense of consonance.

(Zynell breaths through her nose)

Zfora laughs!

Lilustra stands up.

Zersha says, "If you're not going to be helpful, why even bring it up? It seems silly and petty."

Zersha shrugs.

Eyst says to Zehira, "If you expect us to kneel to your master for a simple question then you ask too much."

The risen creature proudly emanates a rich bass song that quickly alternates with the sharp falsetto calls of a yodel.

A risen fiend appears to be trying to look stoic, though it is very clear it is suffering.

Zynell asks Zfora, "The Maul?"

Zehira says, "I would never ask anyone to kneel to Lord Jeihrem, that is only a desicion you can make on your own."

Olinslag gestures.

Zfora rolls her eyes.

An arisen goblin zombie sniffs the air.

The inhuman sounds coming from the risen creature suddenly devolve into a low, tuneless humming.

An arisen goblin zombie glances about, a feverish intensity lighting its eyes briefly.

Blackspine asks, "Any guesses?"

Zfora ponders.

Blackspine says, "I am young and do not know much."

An arisen goblin zombie glances about, a feverish intensity lighting its eyes briefly.

An arisen goblin zombie sniffs the air.

Zfora says, "Could be a couple of different things."

Sofina nods to Blackspine.

Sofina says to Blackspine, "You're not alone."

Sofina smiles at Blackspine.

Blackspine nods to Sofina.

A risen fiend appears to be trying to look stoic, though it is very clear it is suffering.

A risen creature gazes about impassively.

Zynell blinks.

Sofina asks, "Are we pressing on? Or was that enough?"

Zynell says to Zfora, "Apologies, i seem to have blinked very hard after asking about the Maul."

An arisen goblin zombie sniffs the air.

Eyst says, "Well, we can process what we do know. Something attended our efforts. One of the Immortals and one of Them."

A risen abomination looks about, making a groaning sound.

Blackspine nods to Eyst.

Zynell says, "There are two other sides of this crater."

Zynell says, "If you have more items."

Zynell shrugs.

Eyst shakes his head.

Zfora says, "It could be that the Maul is Urrem'Tier."

Zfora says, "But I don't know why it would only be 1 immortal."

Eyst says, "I for one have spent all my specimens."

Zfora says, "The bolus for CFW turns a wasp into a scorpion..."

Sofina nods to Zfora.

Soft weeping sounds come from a risen fiend.

A cacophony dedicated to Meraud rises from the risen creature, forming an eerie litany of glottal prayers and half-screamed pleas for forgiveness.

Sofina says, "I have a scorpion."

Zfora nods to Sofina.

Sofina says, "Thats what I was reminded of when I saw it."

Zfora nods to Sofina.

Zfora says, "Likewise."

Blackspine looks thoughtfully at Sofina.

Olinslag puts his runestone in his tartan kilt.

Zynell says, "Interesting."

Layers of sibilant whispers float from the risen creature, burgeoning into squalling and desperate ravings.

Blackspine clears his throat.

Sofina asks Blackspine, "Do you have material?"

Blackspine nods to Sofina.

Sofina asks, "May I?"

Blackspine gets a bad chunk of beast material from inside a rugged black backpack.

Sofina stretches out a hand imploringly to Blackspine.

Blackspine moves a withered black heart slick with yellow ichor to his left hand.

Blackspine moves a bad chunk of beast material to his right hand.

Blackspine offers Sofina a bad chunk of beast material.

Sofina accepts Blackspine's beast material.

Blackspine gets a poor chunk of beast material from inside a rugged black backpack.

Sofina gazes at a flawless chunk of sluagh material.

Sofina says, "I dont think this one will work."

Sofina cups her hand before tilting it above a flawless chunk of sluagh material.

Angry hissing accompanies green-hued liquid falling from Sofina's palm all over the sluagh material.

Blackspine cups his hand before tilting it above a poor chunk of beast material.

Angry hissing accompanies green-hued liquid falling from Blackspine's palm all over the beast material.

An arisen goblin zombie's head swings from side to side viperishly.

Blackspine asks, "No?"

A risen creature looks about, making a groaning sound.

Sofina gestures.

Sofina shakes her head.

Blackspine says, "Needs to be cleaned."

An arisen goblin zombie sniffs the air.

Blackspine draws his blade and makes a thin cut across one of his hands.

Sofina says, "Its to low of a creature for my abilities."

Sofina offers Blackspine a bad chunk of beast material.

Sofina says, "But now you have some acid splashed material."

Blackspine puts his heart in his traveler's backpack.

Blackspine accepts Sofina's beast material.

Blackspine says, "Oh."

Eyst asks, "Does anyone believe the second part of the experiment, that is, the castings, would be likely to produce any more results?"

Sofina says, "We are gathered already."

Sofina looks at Eyst and shrugs.

Xibar sets, slowly dropping below the horizon.

Blackspine shrugs.

Eyst gives a slight nod.

Zynell nods to Eyst.

Blackspine gestures.<br>
Caustic violet green lights ensheathe an acid-washed chunk of beast material as it leaps restlessly from Blackspine's hand. Arrested in mid-fall, the gleaming, well-cleaned bones swirl down and begin to rebuild themselves. Amidst a loud but ordered clatter, ligaments grow over the new connections, soon giving shape to a small, long-bodied beast with a thicket of limbs.

In a flurry of legs and a ripple of its segmented back, the skeletal centipede drops to the ground at Blackspine's feet. One end of it quests upward, jointed mouthparts gaping at him, before it runs off into the shadows with a rustle.

Blackspine says, "It does work."

Eyst says, "The solvents then. Do be careful with how you cast them about."

Kaylecca says, "Worth a shot."

Zersha grins at Sofina, her dimples flashing into view.

Blackspine says, "These are from the boars that black goblins ride."

Blending harmoniously, a multitude of serenading voices from the risen creature create a mesmerizing song that almost hides the sobbing within the chorus.

Blackspine moves a bad chunk of beast material to his right hand.

A risen fiend gazes about impassively.

Blackspine offers Sofina a bad chunk of beast material.

Sofina accepts Blackspine's beast material.

Blackspine says, "Oh wait."

A risen abomination looks about, making a groaning sound.

Blackspine rummages through a tattered shadesatin hex bag embraced by a contorted cambrinth centipede, pausing once in a while and then quickly resuming the search.

Sofina offers Blackspine a bad chunk of beast material.

Zehira gets a thin silver cigarillo case from inside her deathfiber carryall.

Blackspine accepts Sofina's beast material.

Blackspine chuckles.

Blackspine puts his material in his hex bag.

Blackspine gets an acid-washed chunk of dancer material from inside his hex bag.

Soft weeping sounds come from a risen fiend.

Blackspine offers Sofina an acid-washed chunk of dancer material.

Eyst gestures.

The air about Eyst begins to bleed with bilious, deep green hues that oddly strain the eye.

An arisen goblin zombie sniffs the air.

Sofina accepts Blackspine's dancer material.

Zynell says, "Preferably targetting the creatures."

Zynell giggles.

Blackspine says, "There, already acid-washed."

The hiss of bile-green droplets drowns out nearly all other sound as acidic showers erupting from around Eyst soak everything in sizzling wetness!

Zehira gets a long black cigarillo printed with crimson lips from inside her cigarillo case.

(Zersha takes a couple of steps back from the encasement, just in case.)

Zehira puts her case in her deathfiber carryall.

Zehira gets a diminutive tin magma viper from inside her deathfiber carryall.

Zehira points her tin viper at a long black cigarillo and a flame shoots from the creature's mouth, making the cigarillo quickly catch fire.

Sofina glances at Lilustra.

Zersha gets a bright red silk umbrella painted with golden yellow sunflowers from inside her encompassing shadows.

The greenish radiation around Eyst burbles warningly before a sphere of hissing acid spews forth in all directions!

Zersha opens her silk umbrella with a snap.

Zehira puts her viper in her deathfiber carryall.

Zynell leans forward.

Zehira takes a long drag off of a burning black cigarillo.

Sofina asks Lilustra, "What do you make of that?"

Lilustra raises an eyebrow in Sofina's direction.

Illiya stands near Zersha.

Sibilant jets of vile acid spout from around Eyst, dyeing the vicinity an obscene shade of green!

(Eyst stands at the edge of the encasement and casts his acidic waves forth into the mass of vines.)

Sofina asks, "Anything that could possibly relate to whom you worship?"

Lilustra says, "Of the material? Rather suprised you not have any."

Zersha quietly says to Illiya, "I don't know if it'll help but it can't hurt."

Sofina giggles.

The greenish radiation around Eyst burbles warningly before a sphere of hissing acid spews forth in all directions!

A risen fiend appears to be doing its best to avoid drawing attention.

Sofina says, "Sorry, I should have said what we had witnessed."

Eyst gazes off to the north.

Illiya nods to Zersha.

Zehira takes a long drag off of a burning black cigarillo.

Zfora asks, "What are we doing? Casting CFW?"

The greenish radiation around Eyst burbles warningly before a sphere of hissing acid spews forth in all directions!

Blackspine shrugs.

Sofina says, "I was trying to bring my scorpion out."

The risen creature quiets for a moment, its voices soft and almost pleasent. Then it screams with infernal volume!

A torrent of sizzling, bile-green acid sprays outward from Eyst!

Your vision blurs and you experience a sharp pain deep within your skull as the risen creature hits a series of impossibly high notes.

Eyst says, "I've chosen the solvent, whatever you believe best will do."

Zehira takes a long drag off of a burning black cigarillo.

Lilustra says, "Oh silly me. I was hopeful for a few. But I doubt she would take either of those forms."

Zynell nods to Sofina.

The greenish radiation around Eyst burbles warningly before a sphere of hissing acid spews forth in all directions!

the cigarillo as fragile tendrils fill the air with a wild, persistent aroma.

Soft weeping sounds come from a risen fiend.

The risen creature babbles and shrieks in a strangely melodic fashion.

Lilustra puts her fetish in a heavy silk backpack.

Sibilant jets of vile acid spout from around Eyst, dyeing the vicinity an obscene shade of green!

Zfora gets a flawless chunk of beast material from inside a swirling eddy of incandescent light bound by a gold-striated coralite frame.

Sofina asks, "The womans voice we heard?"

Sofina asks, "What do we make of that?"

The hiss of bile-green droplets drowns out nearly all other sound as acidic showers erupting from around Eyst soak everything in sizzling wetness!

Tiny puffs of smoke rise from Zehira's black cigarillo as it burns.

Zfora asks, "Skairelden?"

Eyst tugs at the tip of his mustache distractedly.

The sun rises in a crisp, clear blue sky, heralding another fine day.

A torrent of sizzling, bile-green acid sprays outward from Eyst!

A risen creature appears to be doing its best to avoid drawing attention.

Sofina says to Zfora, "Thats why I asked Lilustra what she thought. Thats who she prays to."

Kaylecca twitches several times as the ridges encompassing her form recede and vanish.

Lilustra says, "Like I said I was hopeful for a bit."

The greenish radiation around Eyst burbles warningly before a sphere of hissing acid spews forth in all directions!

Zfora grins at Lilustra.

Zehira asks, "The woman that flew by?"

Eyst asks, "I recall purple eyes. Does that aid in identification?"

Zfora nods to Eyst.

A risen creature gazes about impassively.

Blackspine says, "WIth purple eyes."

Zfora says, "I think it was a manifestation of Skairelden."

Zfora says, "Very rare..."

Eyst says, "More than one of Them, then."

Zfora nods to Eyst.

Blackspine asks, "Seems like They are mostly waiting out this conflict though, right?"

Zfora cups her hand before tilting it above an acid-washed chunk of sluagh material.

Angry hissing accompanies green-hued liquid falling from Zfora's palm all over the sluagh material.

Wheezing chants emanate from the risen creature, its body shaking violently as the droning reaches a peak.

Lilustra grins.

Blackspine frowns.

Zfora says, "That was what was implied."

Zehira says, "It was the Mysteriarch."

Lilustra says, "I wouild what ever is left would be weaker."

The risen creature erupts with the sound of a piercing, keening wail, its mournful cry sustained for quite some time.

Zfora says to Zehira, "Maybe."

Blackspine nods to Lilustra.

Zehira takes a long drag off of a burning black cigarillo.

Zfora says to Zehira, "But probably not."

Zynell nods to Lilustra.

An arisen goblin zombie sniffs the air.

Zehira casually flicks some ashes off the end of her black cigarillo.

Blackspine says, "It does seem like the wise thing to do."

Monotonous droning underscores a quavering and shrill wailing that pours from the risen creature.

Your vision blurs and you experience a sharp pain deep within your skull as the risen creature hits a series of impossibly high notes.

Zersha rubs her head.

Eyst asks Zehira, "That is what you call Sivroch, yes?"

Zfora gestures.

A risen creature wanders away, seeking rest.

Zehira says, "Yes it is."

An arisen goblin zombie sniffs the air.

Blackspine says, "Well no progress on the walls, but that was very interesting."

Eyst puts his fetish in his tinker's pack.

Zehira takes a long drag off of a burning black cigarillo.

Zfora cups her hand before tilting it above a flawless chunk of beast material.

Angry hissing accompanies green-hued liquid falling from Zfora's palm all over the beast material.

Zehira's black cigarillo glows faintly as it burns down.

A risen fiend winces as its life force drains away through its wounds.

Eyst asks Lilustra, "If it was Skairelden, what would you make of it?"

Zfora laughs!

Zfora says, "I guess you can't cast CFW on demonic material."

An arisen goblin zombie shambles off with a groan.

Lilustra says, "Gives me hope."

Zehira takes a long drag off of a burning black cigarillo.

Blackspine smiles.

Illiya says, "Um could someone tell me what they saw with the woman? I couldn't see any of that."

Illiya smiles, revealing the dimples in her cheeks.

Zfora fixes Illiya with a serene, lofty stare.

Illiya smiles at Zfora, revealing the dimples in her cheeks.

Zehira takes a long drag off of a burning black cigarillo.

Eyst says, "Ah. I did not consider that what we saw was not witnessed by all present."

Sofina nods to Eyst.

Sofina says, "It seems the others had only seen a skittering in the sky."

Zersha says, "I didn't see the woman or hear her either, I think it might have just been those of you that are...you know."

Zersha grins, revealing her dimples.

Zehira asks, "Necromancers?"

Blackspine smirks.

Zfora's eyes look a bit clearer now.

Lilustra grins at Zehira.

Eyst says, "It was quite near the beginning of their appearances. A womans voice called from the distance, "Their focus shifts, and we move." A shadow flitted across the sky, and we caught her purple eyes as she flew."

A risen fiend glances about, looking for someone.

Zehira says, "You can say it. we know what guild we are."

Zfora chuckles.

Zersha nods to Eyst.

Zynell gasps at Zehira!

Zynell exclaims to Zehira, "You do?!"

Zehira takes a long drag off of a burning black cigarillo.

Olinslag comes out of hiding.

Lilustra says, "I fear Zehira is more likely righter then I am. However, I do cling to my sliver of hope."

Zynell playfully tilts her ears toward Zehira.

Sothios grins at Zynell.

Eyst asks Zersha, "Were you able to see the scorpion?"

Zersha nods to Eyst.

Zehira says, "I mean I think I do."

Eyst gives a slight nod.

Zfora ponders.

Zersha says, "It came around a few times."

Sothios says, "I didnt see the woman either."

Zehira's black cigarillo glows faintly as it burns down.

Zfora says, "I'm pretty sure that wasn't Sivroch."

Zersha asks, "Did you all feel the breeze that brought the scent of flowers and rain?"

A risen abomination looks about, making a groaning sound.

Kaylecca grimaces as the pallid mask upon her face falls away, returning color to her skin.

Sofina shakes her head at Zersha.

Eyst shakes his head.

Zynell nods.

Faint groans come from a risen fiend, though it appears to be trying to hide them.

Zehira says, "I'm pretty sure it was. She's been informed of the goins on."

Sothios nods to Zersha.

Zersha says, "I should maybe sure that then."

Zersha blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.

Eyst asks Zehira, "Has she taken an interest then?"

Zehira takes a long drag off of a burning black cigarillo.

Blackspine says, "Well take care, all. I need to think about all of this."

Zersha says, "A gentle breeze swept the area, bringing the scent of fresh flowers and rain. The vinewall seemed to thicken, rising taller and solidifying..."

Eyst nods to Blackspine.

(Zersha glances at the encasement.)

Blackspine says to Eyst, "Thank you for bringing us together."

Blackspine bows.

Sofina says, "Hmm...interesting."

Zehira says, "When she feels like it."

Eyst says, "Indeed. Thank you for joining our company."

Zehira slowly empties her lungs.

Zehira casually flicks some ashes off the end of her black cigarillo.

Blackspine goes south.

Demyr says, "Yes, it has been enlightening. Thank you."

Zersha whispers something to Sofina.

Sofina giggles at Zersha.

Eyst asks Zersha, "Did you notice any other changes in the vinewall before that?"

Eyst nods to Demyr.

Zersha says, "Not since the other evening when Sir Madigan tried to break in."

Sofina says, "Between forcefully being attacked and having necromatic items plalce next to it, it strengths itself."

A risen fiend appears to be trying to look stoic, though it is very clear it is suffering.

Sofina glances at a risen fiend.

A risen abomination looks about, making a groaning sound.

Sofina says, "You can stop that."

A risen fiend wanders away, seeking rest.

Illiya says, "I think it's interesting that the vinewall became stronger."

Zersha nods at Illiya, obviously agreeing with her views.

Illiya grins at Sofina, her dimples flashing into view.

Sofina nods to Illiya.

Sofina says, "It is a rather curious bit."

Zynell says, "I think the interior became weaker or.. lesser."

Zehira says to Sofina, "I look forward to seeing you when I attempt to manifest Them."

Zehira says, "As always...such a lovely gathering."

Zynell beams at Zehira!

Sofina says to Zehira, "I do hope you share more infomation at that time."

A dark veil of shadows envelops Zehira, and she disappears!

Zynell says, "Always lovely to see you."

Zynell says, "And not see you i suppose."

Zynell ponders.

Zersha grins at Zynell, her dimples flashing into view.

Zersha slides a bright red silk umbrella painted with golden yellow sunflowers closed.

Zynell says, "One of those or both."

Zersha puts her umbrella in her encompassing shadows.

Illiya asks Eyst, "Could I speak with you a moment when you have time?"

Zynell rubs her head.

Eyst says to Zynell, "Indeed? Then perhaps we have accomplished... something."

Zfora says, "We have not tried anything that would resonate with the wall."

Lilustra nods to Eyst.

Khurzh nods to Eyst.

Khurzh goes south.

Zfora says, "We have peppered it with demonic items."

Zynell says to Eyst, "He took something from it at the very least."

Zfora says, "We have not tried Life."

Eyst says to Illiya, "Certainly, perhaps we can speak when we are finished here."

Illiya nods to Eyst.

Zersha cocks her head at Zfora.

Zfora removes a turning knife made from a length of blackened soulstone from her wrist.

Sofina taps a rusty dual-pronged blade set into a grip of charred bone that she is wearing.

Zfora taps a turning knife made from a length of blackened soulstone that she is holding.

Sofina says, "I do love that knife."

Sofina smiles at Zfora.

Zfora grins.

Sofina says, "Much better than my rusty ole thing."

Eyst says to Zynell, "Indeed. It's possible he walked off with that something."

Sofina says, "But I do enjoy plunging a rusty knife into people."

Sofina cackles to herself!

Zynell nods to Eyst.

Zersha gives Sofina a gentle poke in the ribs.

Sofina giggles at Zersha.

Eyst says to Zynell, "What do you make of that? Frankly I wouldn't have thought anything we produced from this to be of aid to the Immortals."

Tinkerer Olinslag stomps south.

Zfora says, "It doesn't look like anything here will respond to my knife."

Avoxies just arrived.

Avoxies goes south.

Zfora attaches a turning knife made from a length of blackened soulstone to her wrist.

(Zersha stares long and hard at the encasement before sighing softly and shaking her head.)

Zynell says to Eyst, "I am uncertain, but i suspect it will benefit Them in someway later after the Immortals prevail here."

Sofina says, "The Immortals are desperate right now."

Eyst nods to Lilustra.

Zynell grins at Eyst.

Sofina says, "They are reaching out to whomever they can to help them, including us."

Sofina shrugs.

Zfora nods to Zynell.

Zersha relaxes her body, allowing the vines to roam downward to test the ground for nutrients.

The vines sink deeply into the dirt and begin to feed, binding Zersha in place.

The feeding vines undulate in a pleased manner as they gorge themselves on the rich nutrients in the dirt.

Sofina grins at Zersha.

Zynell says to Eyst, "Unless of course that was Urrem'tier taking advantage of the distraction."

The feeding vines undulate in a pleased manner as they gorge themselves on the rich nutrients in the dirt.

Zynell shrugs.

Eyst gives a slight nod.

The mass of feeding vines retract from the dirt, having their fill of the rich nutrients. They rapidly slither back up around Zersha's body.

Zfora raises an eyebrow.

Zersha gazes off into the distance.

Eyst says to Zynell, "Perhaps that was it, taking from whatever is out there rather than us."

Alchemy Guru Lilustra goes south.

Zynell says to Eyst, "You did invoke the Life verse Death and played undeath in between."

Zfora grins at Zynell.

Zynell shrugs.

Zersha says, "I think I'm going to spend some time with the trees and think about what I saw. Thank you for allowing me to watch."

Zersha curtsies gracefully to Eyst.

Zynell grins at Zersha.

Zersha pulls Sofina to her in a tight hug.

Eyst nods politely to Zersha.

Illiya hugs Zersha, getting a smile in return.

Sofina hugs Zersha, who wraps her arms around Sofina with a warm smile.

Zersha hugs Illiya, getting a smile in return.

A risen abomination gazes about impassively.

With a graceful movement of her hands, Zersha lowers her head and sinks into a formal curtsy before Zfora.

Zersha nods at Sofina, obviously agreeing with her views.

Desert Dancer Zersha goes south.

A risen abomination appears to be doing its best to avoid drawing attention.

Eyst says, "Well, I would say the experiment is well concluded."

Illiya nods to Eyst.

A risen abomination glances about, looking for someone.

Eyst says, "My thanks to all of you for your attendance."

Zynell asks Zfora, "I am not certain i have seen one of the scorpions. Does it have the silvery tail goop?"

Zynell bows to Eyst.

Zfora grimaces as the pallid mask upon her face falls away, returning color to her skin.

Eyst nods to Zynell.

Zfora twitches several times as the ridges encompassing her form recede and vanish.

Eyst asks Illiya, "What was it you wished to speak of?"

Illiya says to Eyst, "So I am a reporter for the Herald and I would like to try to document your experiment for posterity's sake."

Eyst says, "Ah."

Sofina says, "I can bring a scorpion."

Sofina says, "It'll take me a moment to go create it."

Illiya says, "I of course will not mention anyone by name here unless they explicitly say that they don't mind being mentioned."

Zynell observes Sofina with fascination.

Zynell nods emphatically.

Zynell takes a seat.

Sofina says, "Give me a few moments and I will return."

Eyst says, "I don't mind answering questions, but if it's for publication, I would rather you keep names out of it."

Eyst nods to Illiya.

Illiya nods at Eyst, obviously agreeing with his views.

Eyst says, "We are on the same page then."

Illiya says to Eyst, "I understand completely."

Illiya says to Eyst, "Can you tell me more about what you saw, as I don't think I could see the same things as you as an Empath."

Eyst gives a slight nod.

Zfora frowns.

Eyst says, "Of course, let me think for a moment. And if any of the others recall something I don't, please feel free to correct me."

Zfora sweetly says, "Unfortunately, I've forgotten everything."

A risen abomination gazes about impassively.

Illiya smiles at Zfora, revealing the dimples in her cheeks.

Eyst tugs at the tip of his mustache distractedly.

Sofina searches around for a moment.

Sofina searches around for a moment.

Sofina points at a lithe obsidian scorpion coated in a viscous acidic secretion, ruining its hiding place.

Sofina says, "Thats my scorpion."

Sofina gestures at a lithe obsidian scorpion coated in a viscous acidic secretion.

Eyst says, "Certainly there was a presence. You felt that yourself. Unfortunately, it seemed none of us could identify it with any certainty."

Illiya nods to Eyst.

Zynell says, "Interesting."

Sofina asks Zfora, "Shall we get out of here and discuss this in more private?"

Zfora nods to Sofina.

Sofina nods to Zfora.

Eyst says, "What was certain was the arrival of the scorpion. I understand you and the others saw it quite clearly."

Zfora hugs Zynell, getting a smile in return.

Zynell says to Sofina, "Many thanks."

Zfora hugs Sothios, who wraps his arms around Zfora with a warm smile.

Zynell just hugged Zfora.

Sofina nods to Zynell.

Sothios just hugged Zfora.

Zfora waves.

Zynell waves.

Sothios raises his hand in a quick salute.

Zfora left the group.

Sofina curtsies.

Illiya waves.

Eyst asks Illiya, "Did he look at you as well?"

Illiya says, "No.. I don't think so."

Eyst gives a slight nod.

Illiya says, "I saw it skittering around, scanning the area, then it came back and grew huge."

Eyst says, "He had a gaze that was... hm, indescribably empty."

Illiya asks, "The scorpion?"

Eyst nods.

Illiya ponders.

Illiya asks, "Did it make you flinch?"

Eyst says, "Not the emptiness of a bare cupboard or finished glass. An emptiness as if nothing had or ever would be there."

Eyst says to Illiya, "No, it was quite entrancing. Unnerving after the fact of course."

Illiya ponders.

Eyst glances at Zynell.

Eyst asks, "I don't suppose he gave you the look either?"

Illiya shakes her head at Eyst.

Illiya asks Eyst, "Can you describe it?"

Eyst says, "That is about as well as I can put words to it."

Illiya ponders.

Illiya asks Eyst, "So, going back to the beginning.. the experiment was to put blighted objects around the encasement and see if there would be any reaction?"

Eyst says, "Indeed."

Illiya asks Eyst, "Was there another part about casting, or did you end up doing that?"

Eyst says, "Of course, that reaction was expected from the encasement itself or the heralds."

Illiya nods to Eyst.

Zynell grins at Eyst.

Eyst says to Illiya, "Some attempted it, after. Frankly I think the.. occurence took the wind out of our sails."

Illiya nods to Eyst.

A risen abomination wanders away, seeking rest.

Zynell nods in agreement.

Zynell flicks one ear back as though listening for something.

Illiya asks Eyst, "May I.. mention that you were here? Or would you rather I not mention you by name?"

Illiya says, "Either way is fine."

Eyst says, "I would appreciate if you did not mention my name. While I stand by the merit of the experiment, the masses might not agree."

Illiya nods to Eyst.

Zynell says to Illiya, "Soth and i are "attendees."

Zynell grins at Illiya.

Illiya asks Zynell, "So I can mention you both as observers?"

Zynell says, "No, no mention of us would be great."

Illiya says, "Okay, no problem."

Kaylecca left the group.

Illiya asks Eyst, "How do you feel about the results of the experiment?"

Eyst tugs at the tip of his mustache distractedly.

Zynell says, "Fantastic."

Zynell nods to Eyst.

Illiya grins at Zynell, her dimples flashing into view.

Zynell shrugs.

Zynell says, "Cannot deny the results."

Eyst says, "Mixed I suppose. One the one hand, we certainly had a reaction. But whether that has done anything to aid whatever might be left of Knife Clan, or help stop the wild magic phenomenon, hard to say."

Illiya nods to Eyst.

Illiya says, "The reaction was certainly amazing.. and that giant scorpion was really something."

Zynell ponders.

Illiya asks Eyst, "May I ask how you came by the idea to conduct this experiment to begin with? Was there some theory behind it?"

Eyst says, "If one believes it is the Immortals who will put a stop to this one, I would say the results were quite encouraging."

Eyst says, "To this all, that is."

Eyst nods to Illiya.

Zynell nods to Eyst.

Eyst says, "The theory behind it is two fold. The heralds cannot stand sorcery. Necromancy, is of course sorcery."

Illiya nods to Eyst.

Kaylecca says to Eyst, "Thanks for organizing the experiment! It was exciting for sure. Safe travels."

Eyst says, "The other is that their medium appears to be that of life itself. If anything is capable of twisting life against itself, it is the arcane arts."

Eyst nods politely to Kaylecca.

Kaylecca waves.

Eyst says to Kaylecca, "Of course, thank you for your attendance."

Illiya waves to Kaylecca.

Alchemist Kaylecca goes south.

Illiya says to Eyst, "Interesting theory.."

Illiya jots down some notes.

Illiya asks Eyst, "Do you take the appearance of the scorpion to be related to Urrem'tier?"

Eyst says, "It would seem so. As I understand, the appearance of the Immortals is not so surprising as of late."

Zynell nods to Eyst.

Illiya asks, "Does Urrem'tier.. um.. feature often in your.. practices?"

Zynell giggles.

Eyst says, "No. I would say not."

Zynell giggles.

Zynell giggles.

Illiya asks, "So your practices are, in general, separate from any involvement of the Immortals?"

Eyst says, "Perhaps if one were to be too zealous and call is attention at the wrong moment."

Eyst says to Illiya, "That, is a matter of perspective. I'm not sure your paper has the space for the nuance of the subject though."

The winds shift slightly to bring respite from the hot sun.

Illiya asks, "I suppose what I mean is, a sign from the immortals in response to a necromantic experiment is in and of itself quite amazing, would you say?"

Eyst says, "Indeed, what it means, I could only speculate at."

Illiya says, "Granted, I really don't know much about necromancy and perhaps that's fine for the current article."

Zynell says, "Given the theory of the event, it is not surprising Urrem'tier would be the one to show up if any though. he is very.... protective of the Void and cycle of life and death."

Illiya nods to Zynell.

Illiya says, "Perhaps it was as Sofina said, that the Immortals are desperately in need of help right now and will take it from any source."

Eyst gives a slight nod.

Zynell says, "Demons, immortals, entities from the plane of probability, and adventurers are opportunistic by nature."

Illiya asks Eyst, "Anything that you wish for others to know or take away from your efforts today?"

Illiya grins at Zynell, her dimples flashing into view.

Zynell looks at Illiya and shrugs.

Zynell says, "Many a time our community has relied on the necromancers for aid."

Eyst nods in agreement.

Illiya asks, "Can you give some examples of those times?"

Zynell says, "Not just begrudgingly accepted but relied upon."

Zynell says, "Pick just about any large scale battle in history."

Eyst says, "A good point. Perhaps this might be a reminder that these arts should not be so feared as they are. Just as sorcery in general has been reviled, but not proven to be our salvation, so too might necromancy."

Eyst says, "Rather, has been proven."

Illiya nods to Eyst.

Illiya says, "At any rate, what we face now appears to be bigger than all of these smaller disagreements."

Eyst nods.

Illiya asks, "Any other comments or thoughts that any of the attendees would like to be known?"

Zynell shakes her head.

Illiya nods.

Demyr shakes his head.

Illiya says to Eyst, "If you think of any information later that you would like to share with others, let me know."

Eyst nods to Illiya.

Zynell left the group.

Illiya says, "I will of course not mention anyone's name in the article."

Zynell grins at Illiya.

Illiya says, "Thank you for your time, and your efforts to save us all."

Arrival & Explanation

[Viper's Nest, The Pit]
The Viper's Nest is known throughout the land for catering to the dregs of society. The premises are often frequented by spies, conspirators, thieves, smugglers, rogue adventurers and crooked traders. Folks congregate around long, rough-hewn tables, hunched forward listening, gesturing or speaking in harsh, sibilant whispers. The ale is warm, the viands are inedible, nonetheless the Pit is jammed. You notice a large proportion of S'Kra Mur and Gor'Togs in the mix. You also see a heavily scarred door, a crowded bar with several things on it, Amfitro, a dimly-lit staircase in the back of the room and a scrawled menu.

Eyst says, "Good evening to all you newly arrived."

Zersha curtsies gracefully to Zynell.

Zynell bows to Zersha.

You hear a male Human voice say, "Hello."

Kaylecca says, "Hiya."

Zynell says, "Hello."

Lilustra gets a can of sickly yellow liquid from atop a crowded bar.

Eyst asks, "Does anyone know if any others are still on their way?"

Lilustra sniffs at a can of sickly yellow liquid.

Zynell perks her ears up happily as she gazes at Lilustra.

Zynell says, "The empath meeting just ended."

Eyst tugs at the tip of his mustache distractedly.

Zynell says, "But i did not see anyone who would typically head this way."

Zynell shrugs.

Zersha grins at Zynell, her dimples flashing into view.

Eyst says, "It will be interesting if we pulled any from their ranks."

Lilustra smiles at Zynell.

Zynell says, "Aye well some of them have no sense of adventure."

Zynell playfully tilts her ears in opposite directions.

Zynell leans on Zfora.

Zfora smiles at Zynell.

Zynell playfully tilts her ears toward Zfora.

Sothios just hugged Zfora.

Sothios grins.

Zfora hugs Sothios, who wraps his arms around Zfora with a warm smile.

Eyst says, "Some do. I know at least one, though it doesn't seem like they will be joining us tonight."

Zfora nods to Zynell.

Zynell nods at Eyst, obviously agreeing with his views.

Eyst says, "But anyway, let us get on with the preparations."

Zynell beams at Eyst!

Sothios nods to Zfora.

Sothios searches around for a moment.

Eyst says, "If you are here then I expect you know a little of what will go on here. We will be performing an experiment on the encasement involving blighted materials, and arcane abilities. If this offends you, you may leave at any time."

You hear someone chortling.

Zynell giggles.

Lilustra searches around for a moment.

Eyst says, "I recognize some of you as the uninitiated. You will have the opportunity to directly aid in this experiment should you choose, but it is not required."

Sofina reveals herself.

Zynell nods to Eyst.

Eyst says, "To begin, I would like to explain the thought process behind this experiment. We have seen environments twisted by demonic corruption. We have seen areas inundated by elemental forces. However, despite some areas of course being more verdant than others, I am unaware of any locations so overflowing of Life as the encasement zones."

Lilustra takes a sip of her liquid.

Eyst says, "That is, Life with a capital L. Possibly a few underscores. I want to make clear this is Life as an energy. Life as a cycle. This seems to be the medium through which the Heralds act. The materials and abilities I have asked you to bring to bear today are ideally suited to combat this, I believe."

Eyst asks, "After all, what is the antithesis of Life?"

Zfora smirks.

Zersha nibbles her lip thoughtfully.

Lilustra takes a sip of her liquid.

(Eyst glances around at those gathered for an answer.)

Lilustra sniffs at a can of sickly yellow liquid.

Zersha asks, "Death?"

You hear a voice say, "I haven't had enough tea for this."

Khurzh matter-of-factly says, "Unlife."

Zersha quietly says, "I didn't know there would be a quiz."

Zersha appears to be trying hard not to grin.

Eyst nods to Khurzh.

Kaylecca laughs!

Zynell nods at Zersha, obviously agreeing with her views.

Zfora smoothly says, "Zehira, it's been so long, how lovely to see you again."

Eyst says, "Indeed. Death is an obvious answer to some. But death comes for life, as life consumes death."

Eyst says, "Undeath is the interruption of this process."

Eyst asks, "Does anyone have thoughts on the soundness of this theory?"

Zersha gnaws on her lip.

Lilustra takes a sip of her liquid.

Zfora says, "I do."

Naturalist Coilm came through a heavily scarred door.

Eyst gives Zfora a slight nod.

Zfora says, "Arcane mana is anchored with Life mana."

"Burn him! Burn him!" You hear the cries echo around you as everyone in the vicinity immediately gives Coilm a wide berth!

Eyst tugs at the tip of his mustache distractedly.

You hear a voice say, "For once its not me their after."

You hear someone giggle.

Zersha chortles softly at some secret joke.

Pack Brother Ghust came through a heavily scarred door.

Zfora says, "And we work our thanatological magic due to a corruption of the empathic link."

Sofina glares at Ghust.

Sothios ponders necro's in a justice area i see that happening a couple times

Zfora fixes Ghust with a serene, lofty stare.

Ghust quietly says, "Oh no please go on."

You hear a voice say, "Oh not hikm."

You hear a voice say, "You can be my sacrifice this evening."

Ghust suddenly yelps!

Zersha gazes upward.

Zfora says to Eyst, "I think your theory is correct, however I think there could be more to it than simply undeath being in opposition to life."

Eyst says, "Indeed, yet undeniably we perform our art and disrupt the cycle."

Ghust quietly says, "Well that would be borin wouldnt it. Ah support ya."

Eyst gives a slight nod.

Eyst says, "It is a good point. Whether it is truly an opposing force might be questioned."

You hear a voice say, "Worth a shot at least."

Eyst says, "If it is yet another path that the cycle might take, then perhaps that will be enough."

Sofina reveals herself.

Eyst says, "On to the experiment though. It will take place in two parts. The first is straight forward. We will be bring our collected specimens and see whether any latent energies in them produce an observable phenomenon with the encasement. If mere proximity is not enough, then we will... hm, physically project, the specimens into the zone."

Zersha glances at Eyst.

Lilustra takes a sip of her liquid.

Zfora says to Ghust, "Buckle up buttercup."

Ghust smirks.

A Prydaen commoner quietly walks into view.

Eyst asks, "I know some of you have gathered such specimens, may I inquire if any more have?"

Ghust quietly says, "Like ah said, ahm just here ta support you all."

You hear a voice ask, "You lost my torso?"

You hear a voice ask, "What sort of specimens?"

Strawberry Nurse Illiya came through a heavily scarred door.

A Prydaen commoner suddenly howls in pain, and you notice its left arm fall apart in a shower of blood and a dozen small, neatly slashed limb sections that remind you of dicing a vegetable.

Zersha asks, "Maybe she ate it?"

You hear Sofina muttering to herself from the shadows.

Eyst says, "Material from creatures of an undead or demonic nature."

You hear a voice say, "I have material but not whole parts."

A Prydaen commoner wanders away, seeking rest.

Zynell ponders.

Eyst says, "Skins, bones, flesh, anything will do."

You hear a voice ask, "Anyones?"

Eyst coughs.

You hear some shuffling of items.

You hear some shuffling of items.

Eyst says, "Only those of an undead or demonic nature. Or anything that might have grown from a corrupted area."

Sothios ponders undead material?

You hear a voice say, "Damn."

Eyst gets a rugged black backpack from inside his tinker's pack.

Zfora fixes Illiya with a serene, lofty stare.

Zynell glances at Illiya.

Eyst says, "As an example, this is what I have gathered."

You hear a voice say, "Yes I know what the things are."

(Eyst opens the backpack and takes a step back. At once a fetid smell emanates from it, the first warning of its contents. A clear view into the backpack shows all manner of organic matter, from viscera taken from creatures, to the fruits and clippings of plants. Regardless of its origin they all bear the similar tell tale markings of corruption, unnatural growths, sickly colorations, the visible story of their previous tortured existences.)

Zersha blanches.

Zfora smirks.

Eyst closes his black backpack.

Eyst nods in agreement.

Lilustra drops a can of sickly yellow liquid.

Eyst puts his backpack in his tinker's pack.

Eyst says, "Regardless, we will make do with what we have."

You hear a voice say, "I have some regular black coffee. Dark magic if there ever was."

You hear a female Elf voice say, "My risen lost my body parts. I may have to stop at the xalas to aquire some more."

Eyst says, "Our second step, I leave open to the opinion of the group. It must involve necromantic sorcery and the manipulation of the arcane mana streams. What methods we employ is the question."

Eyst says, "The floor is open to suggestions."

Zynell casually observes the area.

You hear a voice exclaim, "Well let's get to it!"

You hear a female Elf voice say, "I agree both steps should be tried."

You hear a voice say, "Until our options are bled dry or run out of them."

Eyst gives a slight nod.

Sothios says, "Well people tried pure mana andthat didnt work for crap, why not give sorcery a shot."

Sothios shrugs.

Zynell asks, "Like lots and lots of acid?"

Zynell angles her ears forward in curiosity.

Zfora grins.

You hear a voice say, "So much acid."

Zynell says, "Excellent."

Zynell joins Eyst's group.

Blackspine wavers into view for a moment.

Blackspine joins Eyst's group.

Zersha joins Eyst's group.

Khurzh joins Eyst's group.

Sothios joins Eyst's group.

Zfora joins Eyst's group.

You hear a voice ask, "Which Spire are we going to?"

You join Eyst's group.

Eyst says, "I'm of a mind that a risen chorus would go well with what we do. Something I saw during the recent pure magic gathering leads me to believe that it may alter the streams in a way inimical to the heralds."

Lilustra joins Eyst's group.

Zehira wavers into view for a moment.

Zehira joins Eyst's group.

You hear a voice say, "I have a many headed risen just for that."

Eyst ponders.

You hear a voice say, "Its a disgusting beast but it loves to sing."

Kaylecca joins Eyst's group.

Zynell nods.

Zehira reveals herself.

Eyst says, "Acid might be a wonderful idea. A necromantic solvent to serve as both herbicide and to further our magical goals."

Sofina reveals herself.

Zynell nods to Eyst.

Eyst asks, "I don't wish to linger here too long. Are there any other thoughts?"

Zfora says, "No, lets go, we've been here for too long."

Eyst gives a slight nod.

Eyst says, "One more point before we leave."

Eyst gets a large box from inside his tinker's pack.

Eyst says, "There are some among you here who are not capable of these sorceries. I have taken the liberty of providing an option for you as well. In this box you will find several scrolls, all low necromancy patterns. It is of course up to you whether you wish to take part."

Eyst drops a large box.

Eyst says, "I warn you now, there may be consequences to your use of these scrolls. But a few low sorceries does not a necromancer make, I would say."

Zfora grins.

Sothios raises his hand.

Eyst nods to Sothios.

Sothios says, "Thief, no magic here sorry."

Zfora pats Sothios on the back.

Sothios grins.

Kaylecca sniffs at a large box.

Zynell exclaims, "Thief?!"

Zynell gasps at Sothios!

Zersha glances at Zynell.

Zersha glances at Sothios.

Sothios says, "I know i know."

Zersha nods to Illiya.

Zersha smiles at Illiya, revealing the dimples in her cheeks.

Sothios grins.

Eyst says to Sothios, "I regret I have nothing to offer those unverse in magical arts. I hope our experiment will be of value to you nonetheless."

Zynell says to Sothios, "Corrupted xalas stabber."

Strawberry Nurse Illiya went through a heavily scarred door.

Zynell nods to Sothios.

Eyst casually observes the area.

Eyst asks, "Is anyone planning to take from the box?"

Zfora smirks.

You hear some shuffling of items.

Sothios says, "Ive been a friend a your guild for longer then most of yahave been in it, im here for moral support."

Sothios grins.

Zfora asks Ghust, "I thought you were a supporter?"

Zynell says, "No, but many thanks for the offer. my Immortal is not keen on that level of involvement."

Zynell bows to Eyst.

Eyst says to Sothios, "It is good to know we have such friends."

Eyst says, "Very well."

Eyst picks up a large box.

Zynell nods at Sothios, obviously agreeing with his views.

Zfora fixes Ghust with a serene, lofty stare.

Eyst says, "If you would all follow me, we will see about finding an appropriate space."

Ghust quietly says, "Ah do."

Khurzh nods to Eyst.

Zfora says to Ghust, "Then I really do insist you take a scroll..."

Ghust nods.

Eyst drops a large box.

Zynell nods at Zfora, obviously agreeing with her views.

Eyst raises an eyebrow in Ghust's direction.

Ghust quietly says, "Ah yeah ah support you but ah cant taint my empathy eithor."

Eyst picks up a large box.

Zfora says to Ghust, "It won't."

Eyst gives a slight nod.

Zynell says, "Eh."

Eyst says, "We will be moving in a moment, if you are left behind, knife clan will be our first stop."

Zynell nods to Eyst.

Eyst puts his box in his tinker's pack.

Esotericist Eyst's group went through a heavily scarred door.

Knife Clan

You follow Eyst north.
[Wilderness, Edge of the Primal Encasement]

Narrowing her eyes, Zehira presses her fingertips against the side of her neck.

Zehira gestures.

Blackspine gestures.

Zehira gestures.

Lilustra gestures.

Whispers swirl throughout the area.

Zfora gestures.
A smoky film of grey mist exudes from Zfora's palms as she draws them close to her face. Breathing in deeply, her mouth remains open as she trembles for a second. She recovers after a moment and looks pleased.

The whispers intensify, fading in and out.

(non-necros) You hear Them screaming, echoing in the distance. The cacophony fades.

(Necromancers) A thin red line appears in the air above you, and suddenly, snaps open revealing a large eye with several distorted pupils.

(Non-Necromancers) You smell burnt hair and stinging solvents, and a winged creature flits across the sky, marked by twin streaks of purple.

(Necromancers) A womans voice calls from the distance, "Their focus shifts, and we move." A shadow flits across the sky, and you catch her purple eyes as she flies.

Kaylecca holds out her arms to her sides in a preparatory gesture.
Kaylecca shudders slightly as streams of black energy slide up across her arms from her fingertips before arcing out along her entire body.
Whitened ridges rise up from beneath Kaylecca's skin all across her limbs and torso.

Eyst drags the point of his ritual knife along the palm of his hand, letting some of the blood drip onto his lobster fetish.
As if drawn from thin air by some inexplicable magic, a risen creature appears close by.
A risen creature walks toward Eyst with a slight growl, but does not attack.

A scorpion skitters into the area and darts back and forth. It waves its pinchers and with a loud *clackclack!* snaps them in the air, sending silvery sparks of starlight drifting upward, motes of light that slowly fade. You blink, and the scorpion is nowhere to be found.

Zfora holds out her arms to her sides in a preparatory gesture.
Zfora twitches several times as the ridges encompassing her form recede and vanish.
Zfora shudders slightly as streams of black energy slide up across her arms from her fingertips before arcing out along her entire body.
Whitened ridges rise up from beneath Zfora's skin all across her limbs and torso.

Narrowing her eyes, Zfora presses her fingertips against the side of her neck.
Seams of reddish-black energy spread from Zfora's hand, burrowing into her body.

Lilustra gets a perfect spider fetish from inside a canvas knapsack.

(Non-Necromancers) Several individuals in attendence gag and retch.

(Necromancers) Something shifts in your gut.

Blackspine reveals himself.
Blackspine gestures at an arisen goblin zombie.
With a strange croaking noise, silken black dust spills from the cracks of Blackspine's fingers.

Kaylecca gestures.
Color leeches from the skin on Kaylecca's head, bleaching it to a pallid mask. Her eyes screw shut in an expression of rapturous pain as her head reshapes itself freakishly, becoming more angular.

(Non-Necromancers) Something skitters between the stars, an unsettling flicker of movement.

(Necromancers) You feel them in the distance, watching for an opportunity, safely avoiding confrontation.

Zfora nods.

Zynell glances up at the sky.

From somewhere close, you hear a howl!

Illiya blinks.

Zersha gazes up at the sky.

Khurzh assumes a meditative stance, concentrating on something.

Zehira says to Zynell, "I told you."

The scorpion returns, its stinger poised and ready, its pinchers held high in defense.

Narrowing his eyes, Khurzh presses his fingertips against the side of his neck.
Seams of reddish-black energy spread from Khurzh's hand, eventually settling into a monstrous pattern shining through his scales.

Zersha casually observes the area.

Lilustra drags the point of her ritual knife along the palm of her hand, letting some of the blood drip onto her spider fetish.
As if drawn from thin air by some inexplicable magic, a risen abomination appears close by.
A risen abomination walks toward Lilustra with a slight growl, but does not attack.

(Non-Necromancers) Several individuals in attendance flinch.

(Necromancers) The thin red line appears once more, and suddenly, snaps open, wider and wider, until you see nothing but darkness and pupils, countless pupils staring down at you, His attention boring into you and howling His displeasure at the Conquerer of the Wilds, the Maul that binds him!

(Non-Necromancers) A gentle breeze sweeps the area, bringing the scent of fresh flowers and rain. The vinewall seems to thicken, rising taller and solidifying.

(Necromancers) Something approaches, and suddenly, you cannot feel Their presence.

Olinslag gestures.
The air around Olinslag shimmers with a blinding yellow luminescence. The scintillating light writhes and twists, abruptly coalescing into a translucent field before blinking out of sight.
A swirling vortex of brilliant light spins across the area.
Raw energies rupture near Eyst, leaving him looking pale and drained.
A fearsome mana surge slowly makes its way to the northwest, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.

Eyst frowns.

The scorpion again appears, skittering across the area.

The scorpions stinger whips forward too fast to follow, its tip disppearing into something far above that you cannot see.

The man stares at the blinding object, and suddenly looks directly at you, His eyes an endless void, an empty abyss, a boundless chasm into which you fall, fall, fall...

Khurzh concentrates for several moments, a greedy expression on his face.
A fearsome mana surge is abruptly erased from existence!

You blink, and everything is normal. The man is nowhere to be seen.

Eyst gazes off into the distance.

Zersha shivers.

Zynell smiles.

Sofina gazes off into the distance.

Sothios grins.

After Discussion

Blackspine gestures.
