Raikage was born in Ilithi at the monastery of the House of the Rowan Branch. He remembers very little of this time in his childhood other than that he was very awkward with the solemn culture and pious figures moving about him. When he reached the age of 10, he impressed a local alchemist with his aptitude for potions and knowledge of herbs. Not long after, the alchemist caught Raikage stealing from his stores to do experiments on his own. Once Raikage's parents learned of this, they turned to the council of their leader, Sainyuso Neineloa Fyearik'a Ithna. In following the traditions of punishment for those who would bring dishonor among their own, they tied Raikage to the great precipice and left him to the fate of the gods. In an unusual turn of fate for Raikage, he was visited on the third night by a dark-haired Elothean wearing a pupilless eye pendent. "What is your life worth, young Elothen?" asked the dark figure. Background
Raikage was desperate to continue living, so he agreed to whatever the dark figure would want from him. For the next two decades, he spent his life on the move. Doing whatever his rescuer needed from him. Preparing poisons, stealing food, stealing coins, and training with weapons constantly He was never given the name of his master and was always kept out of the secret meetings he attended. One night on the road in Therengia, his master told him to set up camp and wait for his return. That was the last time he ever saw his Dark Rescuer. He waited for weeks for his return, to no avail. Raikage then spent the next few years moving from province to province, stealing to survive, and working as an alchemist apprentice when he could find the work. He was apprehended one day while stealing from a shop in crossing by thieves guild thugs and taken to Kalag the Black for judgment. Kalag Kreethanni was impressed with Raikage's skills and offered to help him improve them in exchange for a debt to be paid.
