The Akhaal horse is bred exclusively by the Wind Elves of Horse Clan. Selective breeding through the generations have given these animals stronger than average hides and the ability to better dodge attacks. Because of these abilities they are not meant to wear armor. They are all 16hh with a unique color pattern -- solid colors with a white blanket over the hips, or with leopard spotting, or lacy spots like snowflakes.
