Players' Notes
Playing Sircha has been a roller coaster of exclamation points with me barely clinging to the seat the whole time. I started her when I was a very naive, very innocent teenager, aged 16.
I had spent a lot of time researching medieval names, particularly ancient Celtic names. I came up with Sorcha, but I decided I wanted something nobler-sounding so I dropped an "o" for an "i" and Sircha was born. At the time everyone I roleplayed with accused me of being a prudish old lady, and several made serious claims that I must be 86 irl or older. I wouldn't give anyone my picture to 'prove' I was otherwise, I never showed anyone my birth certificate as was demanded by many. People demanded constantly that I 'prove' I was the age I said, instead of just taking my word for it. I really saw no reason to. I was there to play, enjoy and test out my skills in poetry-writing.
The only DR player who has seen my irl picture has been Paerr Irontalon. Paerr and I killed swampies together for a good 3 years. While I don't want to put words into his mouth, this is approximately what I remember him saying when I sent it to him. "Wow, your gorgeous! I'm 27 irl if I wasn't already married I'd ask you. If I ever get divorced, your the first girl I'm asking." A few years after he divorced in a messy legal battle, he did ask me, but I was dating someone seriously at the time and declined.
Sircha's direction, the game is what you make of it, Dragonrealms is there, always will be there, waiting like an old flame. As a player I've never really abandoned the song-writing, poetry-writing side. I enjoy it, often I forget to or completely neglect to practice skills while I'm spending weeks working and reworking and rewriting and writing again a new song to later share with the guild or Elanthia at large. A good song is one you spend weeks in the crafting, reviewing it and writing it again until it is truly and masterfully made well.
Social situations, as a player I'm going to admit I have a low social intelligence, combined with an anti-social attitude. This has always spilled into how my characters think, behave and do. Some times I humor people with my very anti-social slap-stick commentary, and sometimes they laugh. That's fine, people need to laugh and be happy.
I thought it might interest people to know more about me as a player, I've taken several online quizzes over the years. You are Ichigo Kurosaki, the stubborn, short-tempered, and cool high school student who can see spirits and soul reapers. Like Ichigo, you are very outspoken and determined. Your friends can always count on you to defend them and help out however you can. You are a very compassionate person and have the ability to feel empathy for others. http://www.quizrocket.com/bleach-quiz/?q_result=1%7C0%7C0%7C4%7C0%7C0%7C1%7C4%7C4%7C0%7C4%7C1%7C0%7C1%7C0%7C2&e_close=1
You are Baldr! You are the God of beauty, and doomed to die at the hands of a friend. You will watch as all your friends die in Ragnorak (the end of the world). You are very playful and naive, and dont think about the consequences in life. http://quizfarm.com/run.php/Quiz?quiz_id=5541
Roleplaying in Other Games
After leaving DR, I really just wanted to rediscover table-top roleplaying and all the fun and joy it can bring. I had a lot of character deaths along the way as I slowly, ever so slowly turned from Novice Roleplayer to Experienced Roleplayer. You just know when your moment comes, the other players around the table are gazing at you in awe. The GM looked me in the eye and said, "I was expecting you to die, that was awesome, just awesome. Good Job! You took them both out in one move. Now I'll have to up the CR above +5."
The main problem with dragonrealms is that you can't solve problems with creative roleplaying. You can't come up with some new idea to solve a problem and have it work because the system lacks that kind of instant flexibility that a table-top game does, and if you could do it without moderation you would have all kinds of abuse. The only way to really solve problems in dragonrealms is through creative thinking and posting your ideas on the forums and hoping some coder picks it up and does it for a pet project.
