Light violet paint covers the low walls of the meeting room, and tasteful purple lilies grow in stone pots in one corner. Several rows of high-backed benches are arranged in the center of the room, each finely carved from cedar. A small table against one wall holds a few refreshments.<br />

You say, "Fellow adventurers, the time for action is upon us. We must unite our strengths, our skills, and our resolve in defense of Zoluren. As guardians of this realm, it falls to us to stand as bastions of hope against each encroaching darkness."

Anuril raises an eyebrow.

Anuril casually observes the area.

You say, "Let us temper our courage with prudence and wisdom. We must devise a strategy, a plan of action that will fortify our defenses and repel these threats with unwavering determination."

You say, "With that in mind, there are a number of topics we wish to discuss today: 1. the ongoing appearance of massive voltaic colossi in the Crossing, 2. the possibly resolved threat of the Goblin Krenze, and 3. the looming questions and concerns about the portentous Nascent Unknown."

Anuril raises his hand.

Erolith jots down some notes.

You say, "The format of this meeting will therefore be broken into those three parts, with a quick summary of each topic to be followed by open discussion regarding what measures we might take to protect our province from it."

You nod to Anuril.

Anuril clears his throat.

Imroth nods.

Rifkinn whispers something to Jaelia.

Akeiro's face lights up with joy for Raikage.

Illiya observes Anuril with fascination.

Tirost takes a sip of his whiskey.

Anuril asks you, "How can we plan a strategy to defend the province, when there are threats to the province standing in this very room?"

Kethrai scratches one ear, looking bemused.

Anuril asks, "I know that provincial leaders have recently weakened their stance on necromancers, chastising the hounds and preventing them from pursuing their just duty. Are we then to accept the presence of necromancers among us? Who defy the laws of the province and the immortals?"

Illiya takes a deep breath, looking serene and determined.

Somniumvisum says, "I echo that concern."

Akeiro nods at Anuril, obviously agreeing with his views.

Jessalyne cocks her head.

You say to Anuril, "We hope to discuss these three threats to the province as they currently stand, and plan from there. We will allow time and space for open discussion where such concerns may be presented, if you wish."

Anuril dryly says, "It's your meeting, if you wish to ignore the blight under your very nose, by all means..."

Illiya grins at Aislynn, her dimples flashing into view.

You say to Anuril, "The White Gladiolus Society is not a military organization. We have asked to gather people here to discuss in order to employ the skills of our province's adventurers."

Imroth says, "Outside threats bring us together. We should not spend our time bickering among ourselves."

Raikage looks at Jaelia, obviously trying not to grin.

You say to Anuril, "If I may, we will proceed."

You smile.

Anuril gives you a slight nod.

You ask Navesi, "Firstly, will you please share the most updated news regarding the threat of voltaic colossi?"

Navesi says, "Allow me to speak a moment as co-host. With great respect, Anuril, and one who is very wary of the evils of Necromancy, we have limited time and some very large threats to discuss. The issue of Necromancy is important but would likely eat into our much needed defense plans for these other areas. I would welcome it at the end, or another time."

Navesi nods to you.

You nod at Navesi, in complete agreement with her views.

Anuril nods to Kethrai.

Akeiro whispers something to Anuril.

Navesi says, "In brief, massive voltaic Colossi have attacked the Crossing twice now, and we have reason to believe that they are... iterating. That there will be more, and that they will be stronger. They are, we believe, being produced in the Plane of Electricity."

Anuril smirks at Akeiro.

Maltris whispers something to Anuril.

Huebald nods to Navesi.

Anuril mumbles a word of general praise.

Kethrai angles his ears forward, gazing curiously at Navesi.

Tirost gazes at Navesi.

Navesi says, "We don't yet know how they are getting into Abiding, or why they have targeted the Crossing."

Aislynn ponders.

You nod to Navesi.

Navesi says, "So far we have defeated them by entering a hole in the leg and dismantling them from within. We must begin to prepare for the possibility that it will not be so easy."

Wild Card Elore came through a violet door.

Jessalyne winks and flashes Elore a sly grin.

Navesi says, "I will propose a few solutions of my own and then open the floor to other ideas, which we will gather and submit to our military authorities or others as appropriate."

Kethrai whispers something to Anuril.

Elore smiles.

Elore nods.

Elore takes a seat.

Xionara frowns.

Navesi says, "My first suggestion is that we build ballistae. If there is no obvious hole through which to enter, we must make one."

You nod to Navesi.

Navesi says, "They must be mobile enough to track and fire at the Colossi."

Akeiro asks, "Can we add catapults as well?"

Anuril looks at Xionara and shrugs.

Nemy kisses Sothios on the nose.

Akeiro says, "Can load the threats to the city in them and pshew them over the walls."

Xionara scowls.

Navesi says, "Catapults seem like they would be more difficult to aim properly at the Colossus, but we can consult any prominent Engineers."

Maltris whispers something to Raikage.

Leayne hugs Sothios, who wraps his arms around Leayne with a warm smile.

Navesi says, "The point is not to remove threats but to make a massive hole in a Colossus."

Sothios smiles at Leayne.

Imroth says, "Firing a catapult within the walls might have side effects."

Navesi nods to Imroth.

Akeiro says, "A threat strapped to a boulder accomplishes both I think."

Illiya asks, "Out of curiosity, why do we not want to remove the threats..?"

Elore asks, "Do we have notes from the other attacks debriefing what worked most efficiently against them?"

Anuril casually observes the area.

Kethrai says, "It's unlikely we can catapult one of these colossi over the walls. They need to be destroyed from within -- though thankfully they seem to leave after that."

Rifkinn appears to be whispering to those in his company.

Miskton says to Illiya, "I think it's just meant to be a step toward dealing with the threat, but not expected to be sufficient on its own."

Kethrai says, "Somewhat explosively..."

Navesi says to Elore, "We entered the Colossi through a hole in the leg and dismantled the interior."

You nod.

Maltris joins Raikage's group.

Dasheek says, "A ballista generated by a Warrior Mage is fairly precise. Enough so for this application, I'd imagine."

Navesi says, "The ballistae would create a hole if the next Colossus does not have one."

Tirost says to Elore, "I've written a report on the method I can share with you later, if you like."

Elore ponders.

Navesi says, "We were lucky that the first two had such easy access."

You say, "In the past, gaining entry to the interior was the key to taking each colussus down. Trying to fight it from outside was rather futile."

Elore smiles at Tirost.

Sir Genthieldur came through a violet door.

Sothios grins at Chelinde.

Jaelia says, "I think Akeiro meant, a catapult to launch boulders or things, or to also launch people higher up on them if needed. But a ballistae is a more targeted force attack."

Sothios nods to Chelinde.

Jessalyne glances at Genthieldur.

Navesi says, "My second suggestion is that, once inside the next Colossus, we try to take apart what we can and keep the parts for study."

Jaelia nods to Navesi.

You say, "A catapult for people would be an interesting, if possibly dangerous, idea."

Timorias says, "A Catapult might not be a bad idea, if we could use it to knock it prone. It would give us time to find any openings."

Navesi says, "The more we know about it the better."

Navesi says, "Questions in a moment."

Navesi says, "I can answer questions about that, but the main thrust is that if you're interested, please join us in that experiment."

Navesi says, "Now, questions and other suggestions for how to defeat Colossi."

Seydin asks, "Are we concerned the parts taken out of the colossus might disappear like the main body? Is there a potential for damage if those parts are in someone's possession?"

Feayra waves to Tirost.

Kethrai whispers something to Nemy.

Seydin says, "The disappearance seemed rather... violent."

Nemy nods at Kethrai, obviously agreeing with his views.

Navesi says, "Hmm, a very good question. Personally I'd say it's worth the risk. If you're worried, you could set the items down away from yourself until the Colossus disappears, to see if they do too."

Tirost raises his hand.

Navesi points at Tirost.

Seydin asks, "Can we nominate Shuya to hold them?"

Timorias grins.

You giggle at Seydin.

Navesi begins chortling at Seydin.

Timorias exclaims, "I second that!"

Timorias hums to himself.

Tirost says, "Might we continue to explore Zengmodaleth? There seems to be a direct connection between the custodians, selreks and the colossi, and it is probable that their source lies in Zengmodaleth."

Navesi nods to Tirost.

Kintryn nods at Tirost, obviously agreeing with his views.

Shuya nods to Seydin.

Aislynn nods at Tirost, obviously agreeing with his views.

Sceth leans on Xionara.

Shuya nods to Timorias.

Seydin says to Shuya, "Only because we trust in your exceptional abilities to keep them contained, obviously."

Timorias says, "I'll join any expedition. You'll prolly need healing at some point."

Tirost asks Saragos, "Can we meet when you have time to discuss it?"

Kethrai closes his eyes and takes on a look of supreme focus.

Navesi asks, "Any other thoughts on how to defeat a Colossus?"

Navesi nods to Timorias.

Saragos asks Navesi, "Shall I do a preview of what I came up with?"

Navesi says to Saragos, "We need to wrap up and let the other two talk for this meeting, but we can make ourselves available another time."

You nod to Navesi.

Navesi says, "Very well. Thank you all for your suggestions and thoughtful criticism."

Navesi says, "Allye, back to you."

Levie says, "Sounds like this is less of a "big explosion" solution and more of a "small group of sneaky nimble fellas" solution.."

Jaelia looks at Navesi and applauds!

Navesi says to Levie, "I know some Warrior Mages who would be happy to hear your ideas for a 'big explosion' solution."

Kethrai says to Levie, "If it's anything like the last attacks, anyone outside the colossus will have their work cut out for them in the defense as well."

You chortle at Navesi.

Tirost chuckles.

Saragos says to Tirost, "Absolutely. We can chat right after this, if you want. Short version is that I've been struggling to come up with something that makes me say, "Yes, this is the right thing to do, this is going to work." But I've got something I'm excited about now."

Levie laughs!

Tirost nods to Saragos.

Timorias says, "We can always have Raikage sing to them. That'll stop them in their tracks."

You ask, "Navesi, would you be willing to be the point person in case anyone has any further ideas about the colossi to follow up?"

You say, "About 16 days ago, the pyromaniac goblin marshaled his forces and unleashed chaos upon our lands, both around the Greater Fist and by sending forces into Crossing proper. And with even greater audacity, he breached the sanctity of our realm by tearing open a rift to the Plane of Fire."

Kethrai frowns at you.

Kethrai closes his eyes and takes on a look of supreme focus.

You say, "Fortunately for us, his plans went awry, and he and his dragon construct were both seemingly destroyed in the aftermath as he was seen falling toward the rift and the caldera collapsed upon them."

Jessalyne takes a sip of her coffee.

Ayrell nods at Ezerak, obviously agreeing with his views.

Somniumvisum ponders.

Navesi says, "Key word: seemingly."

Timorias asks, "Do we know for certain he's dead though?"

Jessalyne says, "He ain't."

Jessalyne quietly says, "Forces wouldn't have made it here if not for the moongates."

Kintryn asks, "Did we find the body?"

You nibble your lip thoughtfully.

You shake your head at Kintryn.

You say, "A cursory scouting mission of the volcano's peak today no longer shows any signs of the Fortress or of the rift. Krenze's forces have also scattered, outside of a handful of imps, scavenger giants, and a single pyroclastic ash cloud."

Kintryn says, "Then hes not dead."

Navesi says, "I haven't had any reports of anyone seeing or sensing a meteor crossing the sky at his passing."

Timorias nods at Kintryn, obviously agreeing with her views.

Jessalyne says, "Handful? There were over three hundred up there as of last night."

Soft waves of a gentle, warm peach color flicker around Akeiro.

You hear the voice of Sofina say, "And three goblin units."

Jessalyne says, "Multiple full units."

You tilt your head with a curious expression.

Huebald frets.

You say, "There were none there today."

Jessalyne laughs!

Feayra says, "I dont believe anything without evidence, no way hes dead."

Timorias says, "Until I can dance on his corpse I'll prceed as if he's alive."

Kintryn says, "Maybe they needed a nap."

Jessalyne says, "Guess they got bored waiting for Therengia to finish the job."

Miskton says, "Somebody had a busy night."

Somniumvisum says, "I don't think it was quite accurate that he *sent* his forces into crossings proper. I believe they were invited in via a very obvious and deliberately announced moon gate... just to be very clear."

You nod at Miskton, in complete agreement with his views.

Kintryn glances at Jessalyne.

Jessalyne says to Miskton, "Needed more than two hands to do it."

Illiya asks, "Where is the ash cloud?"

You say, "In that case, it may be even more prudent to perform a more thorough exploration of the area, particularly by Elemental magic users, to determine if there may be any unforeseen consequences from opening a rift to the Plane of Fire there."

Anuril yawns expansively.

Saragos nods to you.

You say, "I'd like to open the floor now for discussion of this topic. Please share any thoughts or suggestions of strategy you may have on how we as Zoluren's adventurers should proceed regarding the aftermath of Krenze's apparent downfall."

Illiya asks you, "Where is the ash cloud that you referred to?"

Saragos says to you, "The thing I want to do regarding Zengmodaleth might also give us an idea if there's a planar tear on the Fist as well."

Navesi nods at Saragos, obviously agreeing with his views.

You say to Illiya, "It was very near the top of the volcano."

You nod at Saragos, in complete agreement with his views.

Kethrai closes his eyes and takes on a look of supreme focus.

Kethrai says to Somniumvisum, "A moongate that did deliver a large number of our forces to the volcano. And even if Krenze used it opportunitistically, he's used his own moongates plenty of times before, there's nothing to say he couldn't have gotten his shamans to open one if he truly wanted to make an attack."

You say to Saragos, "That would make sense."

Akeiro closes his eyes for a moment and grows still.

Jessalyne takes a sip of her coffee.

Jessalyne says, "'If we hadn't done it the bad guy would have' is not the ah, biting riposte it was laid out to be."

Somniumvisum says to Kethrai, "It's just a matter of accuracy. We attacked him in that instance as I recall. He did not attack the city."

Navesi says to you, "My suggestion would be to visit the peak with Elementalists and Life mages and probe the area for signs of activity beneath the collapse."

Saragos asks Kethrai, "Krenze used Moongates?"

Huebald nods to Saragos.

Jaelia says to Saragos, "It has always ben a trick of his."

Feayra giggles at a fluffy cream kitten wearing a strawberry creampuff costume with pink sprinkles.

Miskton says, "He delivered fireballs to the Empath guild via moongate at least once, I believe."

Saragos asks, "Did it seem like he was casting the Moongates himself, or someone doing it for him?"

Kethrai says to Saragos, "I don't mean to say he opened them himself, I suspect he had his shamans do it."

Anuril says, "The walls have never stopped Krenze from getting forces inside."

Jaelia nods at Miskton, obviously agreeing with his views.

Saragos nods to Kethrai.

Somniumvisum says, "He invited people into an obvious trap which backfired on him... but he did not attack Crossings by his own volition. He had assistance."

Timorias asks, "We don't know how Krenze came to be, so doesn't it make sense that who, or whatever created him or caused him to be wouldn't let him dissappear so easily?"

Somniumvisum shrugs.

Rifkinn says to Saragos, "He took the opurtunity after some foolishness from the Northern Provinces."

Huebald shakes his head at Somniumvisum.

Shuya rhythmically says, "I just want to give a big Shuya shout out to Elore, who was porting people up and down the volcano during the raid on Krenze's fortress to circumvent the blockades of goblins that were preventing our esteemed heroes from joining each other easily."

Shuya lets out a loud "Huzzah!" for Elore!

Jessalyne says, "Regardless of whose fault it was last time perhaps there could be some manner of agreement going forward about the placement of moongates."

Betlind praises Elore.

Jessalyne shrugs.

Saragos says, "Moongates should be impossible to open Sorcerously unless a link has been established to the Plane of Probability, just like Fire Rain being done by someone else. If Krenze managed that, it would be a Big Deal."

Kethrai says, "Operational security... could use a review."

Seydin says to Jessalyne, "Or a muster point that's not inside the walls."

Illiya says to Rifkinn, "Kaldean is not nor has he ever been associated with the militias of the northern provinces, if that's who you're referring to."

Jessalyne nods at Seydin, obviously agreeing with his views.

Somniumvisum says to Jessalyne, "Yes.. like not opening a moongate into a war zone from the sanctity of the town green? That seems very sensible."

You nod.

Navesi says to Saragos, "I don't know if he did it personally. He may have had goblin mages who made the gates for him."

You say, "Elore's gate was available from the gate of Sicle Grove, I believe. Potentially a safer spot if future moongates are needed there."

You smile at Elore.

Kethrai nods at Navesi, obviously agreeing with her views.

Somniumvisum says, "I wonder how many innocent citizens were slain due to that. Is there even a tally? It seems to be being brushed over quite interestingly, much like the necromantic presence here."

Rifkinn says to Illiya, "It was Mazrian who publically broadcast the location of the Moon gate."

Chelinde says to Navesi, "Kaldaen opened the gates. Krenze just made use of them."

Elore says, "My gate was at the bottom at the volcano, where his units could easily walk, and threatening no one."

Kintryn ponders.

Navesi nods to Chelinde.

You nod to Elore.
