[Wildflower Meadow, Before the Gods]<br>
Wildflowers circle a leafy bush and a large, flat boulder, the surface of which is rounded due to years of exposure to the wind and rain.  Lush grass blankets the ground like a living carpet that softens footfalls.  A faint path heads toward the tree line to the north, while the field drops off elsewhere in the other directions.  You also see an elaborate storyplait picnic cloth patterned with fanciful dancing spatulas with several things on it and a commanding bright orange banner whose tattered ends flick defiantly at the air.

Healer Aerilia just arrived.

Kethrai waves to Aerilia.

Aerilia bobs a brief, respectful bow.

Eskila wearily says, "It always felt to like you should kill your own ghouls and things to show that it was you who did the act so I encourage people todo that themselves."

Teavira stretches her arms.

Teavira pops the remaining pieces of the small finch into her mouth, clearly savoring the meal.  Afterward, she plucks a few stray feathers from her mouth.

Kethrai ponders.

Aerilia glances up at the sky.

Kethrai says, "It seems reasonable to walk people through the process if they want, and then for future favors they can bring their own. Kind of like the Hub teacher."

Aerilia draws the folds of her cloak about herself.

Teavira's tail undulates lazily through the air.

Anuril glances up at the sky.

Anuril smirks.

Eskila wearily says, "Yeah if I have time I'd like to take people on hunts first to get them used to the idea, and make sure they're not getting noses instead of skins."

Kethrai says, "Incidentally, I'll be calling for anyone who would like to speak to do so. Please whisper to me if you'd like to, you all can get at the front of the list."

Eskila extends her hand toward a commanding bright orange banner whose tattered ends flick defiantly at the air and concentrates.

Eskila wearily asks, "Speak about what?"

Kethrai says, "The Triquetra, the Kin, any old songs or stories you'd like to share..."

Kethrai looks at Eskila and shrugs.

Eskila ponders.

Eskila wearily says, "Nothing comes to mind... i already talked about how stupid Chadatru is."

Eskila waves to Zersha.

Kethrai laughs!

Kethrai says, "Fair enough."

Zersha grins at Eskila, her dimples flashing into view.

Zersha giggles.

Zersha nods at Eskila, obviously agreeing with her views.

Katamba sets, slowly dropping below the horizon.

Kethrai says, "If I have to vamp, I'm practiced at that."

Eskila fixes Kethrai with an intent, predatory stare.

Eskila wearily asks, "Like a vampire??"

Teavira snickers.

Eskila fixes Anuril with an intent, predatory stare.

Kethrai says to Eskila, "I mean... bloodwyne, I suppose."

Aerilia tilts her head to one side.

Eskila wearily asks, "Do you bite Anuril??"

Anuril snorts, loudly.

Kethrai says, "Not hard enough to shock..."

Eskila holds her hand out towards Kethrai for a highfive.

Kethrai and Eskila highfive each other and follow it up with simultaneous finger snaps.  Sassy!

Eskila wearily says, "I'll bite him for you whenever."

Casari briefly spreads her arms outward and begins to chant sharply.  The skipping, sparkling rhythm entices the air to shed moisture and to warm as if under a summer sun.

Teavira suddenly gives voice to a fast, thrumming purr.

Zersha grins at Crobin, her dimples flashing into view.

Casari briefly spreads her arms outward while singing very softly.  A dome of light begins to build up around Casari as the whispered notes get more complicated.

As each feathery note falls from Casari's lips, she weaves it into a tapestry of subtle harmonics that support a line of melody in a minor key, forming the complex measures of the Sanctuary enchante.

The music takes hold, manifesting as a large dome of shimmering light.

Kethrai praises Casari.

Casari grins.

Kethrai says to Casari, "Perfect, thank you."

Casari says, "Any time."

Eskila wearily exclaims to Mrisa, "Its good isnt it!"

Mrisa nods to Eskila.

The rain slacks off somewhat.

Vixonia briefly spreads her arms outward as her chanting intensifies.  The skipping, sparkling rhythm entices the air to shed moisture and to warm as if under a summer sun.
The air shifts as the persuasive melody of the enchante surrounds you, and suddenly the area seems hotter and drier.

Eskila leans over and licks Sonatina, getting a warm smile in return.

Kethrai says to Vixonia, "Thank you."

Leayne softly says, "In my thougts for a few."

Kethrai says, "My primary hope for today is that together we Prydaen can try to concentrate on the desires of the Triquetra, and see what they desire of us in current... events."

Kethrai says, "However, I also want to give us time to just share our songs, stories, and culture with each other, and with others who might be curious."

Kethrai says, "While we give a few more roisaen for people to arrive if they're straggling, I'll start us out with a song..."

Kethrai says, "Not a traditional one, but one I wrote about the diaspora and our arrival in these lands."

Kethrai effortlessly begins a mournful elegy on his cherrywood lute, his eyes sparkling with pride at his hard-won skill.

Kethrai says, "Some of my earliest memories are of gatherings with my extended family, when I got to sit with my cousins and listen to songs and stories from my great grandparents. All of them survived the Great Migration from our ancestral homeland... Which was true for only a tiny fraction of Prydaen living at the time."

Kethrai says, "Many think the Migration lasted a relatively short time, but in fact it took the better part of a generation. My grandpas Ahmir and Mrrar were born after it had begun, and were 10 and 12 when the Barrier was raised. So, many of the stories I heard from them came from that time."

Kethrai says, "Another mistaken belief is that only Prydaen and Rakash were in the Migration. But many of the seven Kermorian races had made their home in the far west, and traveled alongside them. This was how the Westerners even knew where they were going: they learned from their traveling companions about the ancient and storied lands where all of us are standing today."

Anuril appears to be trying hard not to grin.

Kethrai says, "So, this song is about that journey that my ancestors took, that eventually led them to settle here in Zoluren. It's called Distant Home."

(Kethrai plucks a slow and winding tune on his lute, starting in a flattened mode that lends an aura of mystery and exoticism to the story he's telling. After an introductory measure, he adds his accompaniment in a breathy voice.)

     We braved treacherous trails where the floodwaters roiled,<br>

     Crossed miles beyond measure as we grew ever older.<br>
     We sang songs for our uncle when no more he toiled,<br>
     When our aunt breathed her last, begged Tenemlor to hold her."

(Kethrai navigates a dramatic modulation into a major key for the chorus, bringing an air of cheery optimism and more resonant weight to his voice as he sings what sounds like a Prydaenese folk song.)

(Kethrai lowers the intensity of his playing back down for the next verse and deftly shifts the key back down a couple flats, regaining the exotic air of the harmony.)

Leayne softly says to Crobin, "Thanks hun."

Vixonia trills softly at Kethrai.

Kethrai sings in a baritone voice:

    "It's a beautiful place we heard whispered in prayer,<br>
     A land to be welcome and be safe from the threat<br>
     That the Kin and Rakash and all the world share.<br>
     These stories we heard from the friends that we met:"

Miskton nods politely to Saragos.

Crobin says, "Welcome."

Vixonia glances up at the sky.

Kethrai sings in a baritone voice:

    "Where the sun daily rose, its birthplace was theirs,<br>
     So we kept our backs turned as Westward it set.<br>
     This First Land must be where we settle our heirs,<br>
     Western songs must be sung with the East in duet."

(Kethrai strums the series of major chords again, stronger, resilient and triumphant.)

Kethrai sings in a baritone voice:

Kethrai hopefully sings in a baritone voice:

    "At last we discovered what was once Journalai,<br>
     First a few, then a dozen, then thousands and more.<br>
     We raised up a barrier right where we'd arrived,<br>
     And bound the lives of our elders to shield you and yours:"

Kethrai sings in a baritone voice:

    "No evil could cross it while they were alive.<br>
     It left time to prepare for the drumbeat of war,<br>
     And space for our people to grow and to thrive,<br>
     In Zoluren, our new distant home evermore."

(Kethrai strums so energetically for the final chorus that he must raise his voice to a cry above the sound of it, echoing off the distant mountain slopes.)

    "Modir, phoferitaen, ri cuihle aenan,<br>
     Sa makroaen ia rema abu aevan,<br>
     Listen, you aspiring, to our ancient song,<br>
     Be welcomed and weave all your voices along!"

Mrisa trills, his ears relaxing minutely back against his head.

Zersha pulls Sofina to her in a tight hug.

Anuril gazes at Sofina.

Kethrai sings in a baritone voice:

    "Yes, lay in your path new spokes of your Wheel,<br>
     The First Land will close out your final ordeal:<br>
     No more must your Kin be driven to roam,<br>
     Zoluren will now be forever your home!"

As you look her over, you are struck by something about her coloration and markings, the shape of her facial structure -- a wash of of familiarity, like looking into a mirror.  She is your ancestor.
The fog dissipates momentarily, and you see behind her a vast, endless array of other Prydaen, positioned in a branching configuration, forming and endless lineage, a massive tree.  Your ancestor speaks:

You hear a voice say, "I do not trust that it is golden-light, this time."

Ruea tilts her head inquisitively.

Unaka fixes Mazilyn with a heavy, ponderous stare.

Kethrai says, "I won't try to convince anyone to believe anything -- my hope was only to receive guidance here. What everyone does with that guidance is a personal choice."

Vixonia says, "It was a golden light suffused with green."

Mrisa searches around for a moment.

<span style="color:red">Your head swims amidst a golden green glow, and you feel almost a warmth in the ground beneath your feet.  Briefly, somehow, it seems as though you can feel -- everything.  Every blade of grass, every twisting branch and bush, even the hearts of the stones sunk deep within the ground.


<span style="color:red">Your mind opens, and you watch as life flourishes, from the wild and untamed to the prosperous Hubs and far-off cities.  Walking across it all are three luminous beings, their cold gazes watching.  You see their hands fall occasionally, touching mountains, lakes, forests and jungles, the stars overhead, drawing forth sustenance.  <span style="color:red">They touch the back of a dark, bristly Prydaen who is watching some kits.  He doesn t seem to notice.


<span style="color:red">The wheel turns, with difficulty, but it turns.  The luminous beings stroll by, and graze their hands along the edge of the wheel, causing it to slow, ever so slightly, but slow.  They do not look down at the wheel as they pass. 


<span style="color:red">Time passes and you feel...  drained.  Everything dims and you gasp for breath.  Tremors shoot through you, shivers of fear and pain.  The life you observed wilts and then dies, turning to ash that blows away in the wind.  The luminous beings shrug their shoulders lightly and go back to touching the stars.  


Ruea frowns.

Eskila flicks one ear back as though listening for something.

Vixonia quirks her ears outward in surprise.

Xionara takes a pair of sun vulture-winged boots tinted deep brown off her feet.

Unaka softly asks, "Everybody okay?"

Xionara puts her boots in her hitman's backpack.

Vixonia's ears droop for a moment.

Kethrai shakes his head.

Leayne nods.

Mrisa says, "It's... hard to describe."

Xionara takes a sip of her bloodwyne.

Saragos casually observes the area.

Kethrai quietly says, "A vision of the Heralds, it seemed like."

Unaka nods to Kethrai.

Mazilyn's ears droop for a moment.

Kethrai says, "But they were able to take some from the Wheel, and it slowed."

Eskila gathers up an elaborate storyplait picnic cloth patterned with fanciful dancing spatulas and all the food it holds, stuffs the bundle into a pale spiritwood picnic basket strung with miniature glaes spatulas, and closes the lid securely.

Eskila puts her basket in an effervescent eddy of honey-hued light captured by a sungold frame.

Vixonia says to Kethrai, "And thank you for letting me sing."

Kethrai says to Ruea, "It wasn't the message I most expected to hear, but getting some kind of message was certainly what I hoped."

Nevali's ears droop for a moment.

Vixonia exclaims, "Hey... give me an audience and an excuse to sing songs about our kin... and I am THERE!"

Vixonia chuckles to herself.

Kethrai nods in agreement.

Nevali says, "I wish it hadn't been golden... I wish I had something to hold onto."

Eskila nods to Sonatina.

Eskila wraps her arm around Nevali's shoulder in a friendly hug.

Nevali trills softly at Eskila.

Sonatina just hugged Nevali.

Eskila pushes her glasses up the bridge of her nose.

Vixonia says, "It was both... which... I don't know what that means."

Nevali wipes one of her eyes.

Kethrai says, "It may be that Eu is green, and Demrris and Tenemlor are golden. They're a different... sort of being."

Nevali says, "But then what are they..."

Kethrai says, "And when Eu appears in the form of your ancestor, it's supposed to be Eu-Demrris-Tenemlor speaking."

Vixonia says, "White Gold, Blue Gold and Yellow Gold are the colors of the trinity."

Ruea says, "When the thirteen reached out to their followers they were bathed in golden light, I wonder if that is connected."

Kethrai nods to Ruea.

Kethrai says, "I expect that Demrris and Tenemlor are the same kind of being as the Thirteen, and Mrod, Coshivi, and Enelne, and maybe the Gorbesh Ten, and all the other gods people pray to."

Nevali says, "It was only green, the first time... when Junebug called us here..."

Vixonia's ears droop sleepily for a moment.

Kethrai asks Nevali, "Green versus gold-and-green might be the difference between Eu and Eu-Demrris-Tenemlor?"

Eskila trills softly at Vixonia.

Kethrai looks at Nevali and shrugs.

The orange banner fades out of sight.

Nevali says, "Need more sample data."

Kethrai laughs!

Nevali flicks her tail defiantly!

Sonatina hugs Vixonia, getting a smile in return.

Vixonia says, "Oh.. forgive me for running off.  Apparently I need my beauty sleep..."

Vixonia grins sheepishly.

Kethrai says, "I think gods usually look askance on us trying to science them. But if you want to organize something, I'll come."

Ruea hugs Vixonia, getting a smile in return.

Ruea waves.

Dancer Vixonia goes north.

Nevali says to Kethrai, "I could barely drag myself out of bed for this."

Nevali says, "I'm not the soldier you want in whatever war is going on, not anymore."

Ruea raises an eyebrow.

Kethrai says to Nevali, "I don't want any soldiers, and I sure don't want to be one."

Eskila ponders.

Nevali shrugs.

Kethrai says to Ruea, "Thanks for coming also. I'd offer you wine but it's all made of blood."

Nevali says, "I'll think on it. But until I'm whole again, I'll keep just being no one in particular."

Nevali parades north.

Eskila's ears droop for a moment.

Kethrai trills, his ears relaxing minutely back against his head.

Kethrai says, "Poor girl."

Ruea laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement.

Eskila frowns at Ruea.

Sonatina nods to Kethrai.

Eskila wearily says, "Manners."

Ruea says to Kethrai, "I've attended a few Prydaen events, bloodwine isn't the worst I've been offered."

Ruea asks Eskila, "Yes?"

Kethrai says to Eskila, "Laughing at my bloodwyne joke, I believe, not Nevali's suffering."

Eskila wearily says, "Oh."

Ruea glances at Eskila.

Eskila pulls Sonatina to her in a tight hug.

Sonatina snuggles up to Eskila.

Eskila wearily says to Ruea, "Sorry then. I'll save that for when I want to get back at you for real."

Kethrai casually observes the area.

Ruea says to Eskila, "Darling if you'd like to have it out we certainly can, otherwise reconsider your options."

Ruea smiles at Eskila.

Ruea says, "This isn't the time or the place."

Eskila wearily says, "You made me feel awful."

Eskila wearily says, "And you make me feel awful every time I see you."

Kethrai quirks one ear sideways in confusion.

Ruea says to Eskila, "I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about."

Eskila wearily says, "Then it doesn't matter."

Ruea says to Kethrai, "I apologize, I'm not sure what this is but it shouldn't be happening here.  I'll excuse myself."

Kethrai says to Eskila, "Whatever it was that caused it, I know Ruea didn't mean offense to you."

Ruea says to Eskila, "You and I clearly need to have a chat, so you contact me when you're ready for that and we'll discuss what is upsetting you."

Ruea says to Sonatina, "You're welcome to come along for that, of course."

Ruea smiles at Sonatina.

Ruea says to Kethrai, "If you two would like to have a drink later, I'll be available."

Ruea curtsies gracefully.

Sonatina waves to Ruea.

Kethrai says to Ruea, "Thank you for coming, travel safe..."

Ruea saunters north.

Eskila wearily says, "Sorry."

Kethrai says to Eskila, "Ruea isn't a bad sort. She's a bit, uh... refined? Sometimes she might come off meaning something... yeah."

Eskila wearily says, "I was never supposed to leave the pig pens."

Sonatina bends down and grooms Eskila's ears for a moment, purring softly.

Kethrai says, "I was never supposed to leave my parents' farm. S'good I did though."

Eskila wearily says, "How does Rileos get away with being so gruff and disgusting all the time and everyone loves him."

Kethrai says, "That's a mystery for the ages..."

Sonatina says, "He's just that way. mybe its because He doesn't appear to focus on anyone."

Kethrai says to Eskila, "Anyway, I hope you'll give Ruea a chance. She's fancy, but she's always treated me and Anuril well. And not just in a fancy-person way. She's been there for us when we've needed it."

Eskila wearily says to Kethrai, "I'm sorry for making your friend leave like that... if I paid better attention."

Kethrai shakes his head.

Kethrai says, "It was a misunderstanding, they happen."

Kethrai says, "Also maybe I just know Elven body language better."

Kethrai looks at Eskila and shrugs.

Eskila sighs.

Eskila ponders.

Anuril quietly asks Kethrai, "Ever..?"

Kethrai says to Anuril, "It's a lot of tsann."

Sonatina kneels down before Eskila.

Sonatina kisses Eskila on the nose.

Kethrai says, "...it'll go bad eventually I suppose...."

Kethrai's ears droop for a moment.

Eskila's eyelids droop slightly as she utters a low, affectionate trill at Sonatina.

Sonatina stands up.

Eskila wearily says, "Magic food doesn't go bad."

Anuril grins.

Anuril chortles softly at some secret joke.

Kethrai asks Anuril, "Shall we go someplace with a roof so you can air-dry me?"

Eskila wearily says, "Cryle said magic food is actually when you take the tiny things from the air and add more tiny things to them so they change shape and then somewhere else nearby a tiny rock vanishes and rocks don't go bad, but they do get mossy."

Anuril grins at Kethrai.

Sonatina grins.

Anuril nods.

Sonatina hugs Kethrai, who wraps his arms around Sonatina with a warm smile.

Kethrai exclaims to Eskila, "That... kind of makes sense, I guess!"

A pained expression crosses Kethrai's face.
